The family members of the 19-year-old Dalit woman, who died after allegedly being gangraped by four men in Uttar Pradesh&rsquo;s Hathras district, appeared before the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad high court amid tight security. The court had on October 1 asked the woman&rsquo;s family to apprise it of their version of the incident. The hearing is likely to be held in-person. The court had ordered the Hathras district administration to arrange for the family&rsquo;s travel.

Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has taken over the investigation into a 20-year-old Hathras Dalit girl&rsquo;s alleged gang-rape on September 14. Yogi Adityanath led Uttar Pradesh government had recommended a CBI probe into the Hathras case. A letter was also sent in this regard to the central government. The Dalit girl was allegedly sexually assaulted by four men and was referred to Safdarjung Hospital in an extremely critical condition with spinal injuries and paralysis. Her death on September 29th and subsequent hasty cremation generated considerable political heat on the UP government.

She was admitted to the hospital in critical state with multiple fractures. Her tongue had also been cut off. All the 4 accused have been arrested.
