A scary video was captured in Haryana's Panipat on May 7. An operation to safely capture a leopard went awry, and it was all caught on camera.
A station house officer (SHO) and two forest department personnel were injured in Behrampur village. They were responding to an emergency call by villagers about the presence of a leopard.
When the police and forest department spotted the leopard around 9:30 pm, the wild cat attacked them. Some police personnel were seen trying to stop the leopard by hitting it with a cane. Eventually, the big cat was tranquilised.
Sanouli station house officer Jagjit Singh, Panipat forest department ranger Virender Gahlyan and the forest department’s veterinary surgeon Ashok Khasa were injured. Two of them were hospitalised, and were in stable condition.

A purported video that has gone viral on social media showed 'baraatis' (people from the bridegroom's side) dancing on the streets of Karanjia town on Wednesday night with a snake charmer hired by them displaying the reptile in his bamboo basket with its lid open.
Terrified locals informed the Forest Department, and its personnel reached the spot and rescued the cobra. Five people including the snake charmer were detained for misutilising the reptile, a police officer said.
Questioning is underway and action will be taken under Wildlife Protection Act, 1982, he said.
Snake Helpline convenor Suvendu Mallick said that in the video, the snake seemed frightened due to high decibel music played in the procession.
"The snake charmer must have removed the poisonous teeth of the cobra, which is also illegal. I demand strict action against the bridegroom and his father for allowing such a heinous act. This could be one of the first such cases in the country," he said.

The man, Ramchandra Jankar, is a former Sarpanch of a village in Satara district. His wife, Pratibha Jankar and him are seen kicking and beating Sindhu Sanap and her husband Suryaji Thombre, both forest rangers in Maharashtra's Satara. 
Sanap, who is believed to be three months pregnant was repeatedly kicked in her stomach, causing outrage among social media users. 
The Jankar couple fled the scene soon after beating up Sanap and her husband. A complaint was filed by Sanap in Satara Taluka police station and a case has been registered against the couple. 
As per local reports, Ramchandra Jankar repeatedly demanded money from her which Sanap refused to give. He threatened her because she refused to take bribes and give the money to him. 
Since Sanap was repeatedly threatened, her husband Suryaji Thombre was instructed by their seniors to accompany her on duty. However, even Thombre was beaten with slippers and kicked by the former Sarpanch. 
Maharashtra minister Aaditya Thackeray responded to the viral video posted by a Forest Officer in a tweet on Thursday, saying, 'The accused has been arrested this morning and will face the law at its strictest. Such acts will not be tolerated.'

Eco-tourism: dolphin safaris along river Ganga launched at 6 sites

A 'My Ganga My Dolphin' campaign has been launched by the&nbsp;National Mission for Clean Ganga, the Wildlife Institute of India and the Forest Department to mark&nbsp;Ganga River Dolphin Day.&nbsp;
As a part of this, dolphin safaris have been launched at six sites along the banks of river Ganga&nbsp;in&nbsp;Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and West Bengal.&nbsp;
The Ganga Praharis in all the sites have been trained in biodiversity-based eco-tourism and will take the tourists on boat rides to view Dolphin and explore the biodiversity of the holy river.&nbsp;
Announcing the initiative via video conference, the Jal&nbsp;Shakti&nbsp;Minister&nbsp;congratulated the nation and informed that the population of Gangetic Dolphins has increased in recent years.
