On 29 December, 33-year-old nurse Reshmi Raj had ordered food from Hotel Park in Kottayam. She died on 2 January.

The death of a young woman in Kottayam district of Kerala recently, after having a non-veg dish from an eatery, has been found to be due to food poisoning and the chief cook of the restaurant was arrested on Sunday, police said.
An officer from Gandhinagar police station in Kottayam said during their investigation it was found that the woman, a nurse in Kottayam Medical College, died due to food poisoning and subsequently, the chief cook of the eatery in question was arrested.
The woman, Reshmi, had ordered food from that eatery in the last week of December 2022.
Besides her, 21 others too had fallen sick after consuming food from the same eatery, police said.

In a major crackdown after the death of a nurse due to suspected food poisoning, Kerala authorities shut down 40 hotels on 3 January 2023. The Kerala food safety department also levied a fine on 62 hotels, while 28 establishments were given a warning after raids across the state.
On 29 December 2022, 33-year-old nurse Reshmi Raj had ordered food from Hotel Park in Kottayam. She was later hospitalised, and died on 2 January 2023.
At least 20 other people who ate at the hotel also fell sick, according to officials.

However, a report by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), suggests that people are repeatedly getting food poisoning and are falling sick after consuming frozen chicken cooked in these appliances. &nbsp;
Packaged food items containing chicken require a conventional oven heating of at least 165 degrees fahrenheit to be considered safe for eating.
But according to the CDC survey, 30 per cent of people in the US use air fryers and other appliances which do not have the wattage to kill the bacteria and properly cook the chicken which leads to several health ailments.&nbsp;
