The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) shares an easy&nbsp;trick&nbsp;to detect whether the widely consumed food item,&nbsp;besan, is adulterated or not.

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) is back with yet another hack to check for food adulteration and this time it's for&nbsp;besan or gram flour.

According to FSSAI, besan&nbsp;can be contaminated with&nbsp;artificial colours and khesari dal&nbsp;which can lead to serious health risks. So, it is best to conduct an adulteration test before consumption. FSSAI recently shared a simple experiment on Twitter, so check it out and take notes!
Take 1 gm of besan in a test tube and add 3 ml of water to extract plant pigments from it. Now, add 2 ml of concentrated hydrochloric acid (HCL) to this. Shake the contents in the tube and allow the mixture to stand for a bit. If the besan is unadulterated, there will be no change in colour. Adulterated besan, on the other hand, will change its colour to pink.
