Heavy rains over the last week that caused flooding in major parts of Madhya&nbsp;Pradesh&nbsp;have pushed the death toll to 24. "These fatalities were recorded between August 1 and 7,&rdquo; Revenue Secretary Gyaneshwar Patil said.&nbsp;The downpour has affected&nbsp;Gwalior, Shivpuri, Guna, Sheopur, Datia, Ashoknagar, Bhind and Morena.
Nearly 9000 people stranded due to the floods have been rescued by the NDRF, SDRF, Army and the air force. Over 25,000 houses and buildings damaged in the floods and 6 bridges were washed away.
Meanwhile, State Congress chief Kamal Nath visited the flood-affected people in the region on Saturday.

The state has incurred massive loss of property due to the floods. Over 25,000 houses and buildings damaged in the floods and 6 bridges were washed away.
The government dispatched helicopters and boats to rescue 145 people trapped in their homes after the Parvati river overflowed its banks in Guna district&rsquo;s Sunda village.
