<p>Actor Kareena Kapoor, alongside her family, recently had a memorable meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi, where she secured a unique keepsake for her sons, Taimur and Jeh Ali Khan. The gathering was part of a special initiative to commemorate the 100th birth anniversary of Raj Kapoor, the legendary filmmaker and actor.</p>
<p>Kareena, accompanied by husband Saif Ali Khan, brother Ranbir Kapoor, sister-in-law Alia Bhatt, and other Kapoor family members, attended the meeting to extend a formal invitation to PM Modi for the upcoming Raj Kapoor Film Festival. The festival is a tribute to Raj Kapoor's monumental contributions to Indian cinema.</p>

<p>One of the highlights of the meeting was a personalized autograph by PM Modi addressed to Kareena&rsquo;s sons, Tim and Jeh, capturing a thoughtful and endearing gesture. Photos shared by Kareena feature the Kapoor family, including Neetu Kapoor, Karisma Kapoor, Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, and others, posing with the Prime Minister.</p>
<p>The Raj Kapoor Film Festival, slated to run from December 13 to 15, will span 101 cinemas in 34 cities, showcasing a curated selection of the icon&rsquo;s most celebrated films, including Awara, Shree 420, and Mera Naam Joker. This extensive retrospective aims to reconnect audiences with the brilliance of Raj Kapoor's cinematic vision, honoring his enduring influence on Indian cinema.</p>

<p>As the &lsquo;boycott&rsquo; trend grows in Bollywood with each new release, Amitabh Bachchan spoke about freedom of expression and civil liberties.</p>
<p>He made the comment while speaking at the inauguration of 28th edition Kolkata International Film Festival. Bachchan made an extensive mention of censhorship and regulation of content in his speech</p>
<p>Comparing the nature of censorship in colonial and post colonial days, the veteran actor pointed that even today questions are being raised on civil liberties and freedom of expressions.</p>
<p>He went on to describe the changing nature of cinema and highlighted how the subjects have changed over the years. The veteran actor said that the 'current brand of historicals couched in jingoism, along with moral policing has kept the audiences reflecting on the politics and social concerns of our times'</p>
<p>Bachchan's remarks assume significance in view of the latest protests against Shah Rukh Khan's film 'Pathaan'.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Bachchan spoke at length on evolution of censorship in India. He said that the policing of Indian Cinema grew exasperatingly stringent in the 1940s and it was the 1952 Cinematograph Act that set out the structure of censhorship as it stands today upheld by the film certification board.</p>

<p>Talking about the history of censorship, Bachchan said the film censorship was 'born out of a raging fire and into the consequent clamping down on human rights'.</p>
<p>The megastar also made a mention of the Indian Cinematograph committee of 1927- 28, which was the first enquiry into movie viewing, censoring and exhibiting habits in the country.</p>
<p>Bachchan along with actor Shahrukh Khan inaugurated the film festival in the presence of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Governor C V Ananda Bose, his wife Jaya Bachchan, former India cricket skipper Sourav Ganguly among others.</p>
<p>An exhibition on the 80-year-old legendary actor's life and works will be showcased during the film festival, with the inaugural movie being 'Abhimaan'.</p>
<p>A total of 183 movies will be screened in 10 theatres across the city from December 16-22.</p>

"It brings back an era that is gone, but not forgotten. This is why saving India's film heritage is so important. I hope that this is just the beginning of many festivals that will celebrate landmark films of Indian cinema back on the big screen,’ the actor said.      Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap also shared a post on Instagram that read, ‘The man who shaped our childhood. He personified the angst of Salim Javed, Yash Chopra, the everyman of Hrishikesh Mukherji, the man from the street, the orphan, the unemployed sarcasm-laden young man who gave up on god and embraced the anti-hero. He shaped our childhood; he taught us to rebel. And now you can see all those films restored for the big screen again .. thank you Film heritage foundation and Shivendra Singh Dungarpur for giving us back our hero.’     The press release issued by Film Heritage Foundation states that audiences across cities such as Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Surat, Baroda, Raipur, Kanpur, Kolhapur, Indore, including Big B's hometown Prayagraj will get a chance to watch the actor’s hit films on the big screen again.      As a part of the film festival, the prominent films that will be premiered are ‘Don’, ‘Kaala Patthar’, ‘Kaalia’, ‘Kabhi Kabhie’, ‘Amar Akbar Anthony’, ‘Namak Halaal’, ‘Abhimaan’, ‘Deewar’, ‘Mili, Satte Pe Satta’, and ‘Chupke Chupke’.
