Hansal Mehta’s directorial ‘Faraaz’ has been banned by the Bangladesh High Court for the promotion and screening of the film in Bangladesh.

Petition claims that the law enforcement agencies of Bangladesh are also shown in a poor light and that can damage the reputation of the country. 

Bangladesh High Court banned 'Faraaz' from streaming online in the country, after hearing a petition file against the Hansal Mehta directorial.

Hansal Mehta&rsquo;s directorial &lsquo;Faraaz&rsquo; has been banned by the Bangladesh High Court for the promotion and online streaming of the film in the country. As per reports, as of now, there is no ban on the theatrical release of the film because their censor board has not yet taken any decision on its certification.
The film, which was released on February 3 this year, is based on the 2016 Dhaka attack wherein 22 people, mostly foreigners were killed and seven terrorists were sentenced to death. &nbsp;
According to the High Court order, Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (BTRC) is directed to ban the streaming of &lsquo;Faraaz&rsquo; on online platforms in the country.
According to an AIR report, the bench of justice Md Khasruzzaman and justice Md Iqbal Kabir passed the order in Bangladesh High Court on Monday, in response to a writ petition filed by the mother of Abinta Kabir, Ruba Ahmed. Abinta was one of the many who were killed in the terror attack in 2016.
Just after the &lsquo;Faraaz&rsquo; trailer was released, Ruba reportedly went to court and requested them to stop the release of the film in Bangladesh. The AIR report added that Ruba claimed that the film depicts Abinta's character &lsquo;in a derogatory manner&rsquo;. The report further added that the law enforcement agencies of Bangladesh are also shown in a poor light and that can damage the reputation of the country.

Filmmaker Hansal Mehta praised actor Shah Rukh Khan and his latest release &lsquo;Pathaan&rsquo; which has emerged as a blockbuster. In a new interview, he said that &lsquo;Pathaan&rsquo; has proved that 'a good film will reach the audience'. He added that a good film and a good man can't be stopped for 'too long'.
In an interview with news agency PTI, Hansal said that &lsquo;Pathaan&rsquo; is as political as perhaps his film &lsquo;Faraaz&rsquo;, but the expression is different.
&lsquo;The way it is done is different, the audience is different. All kinds of films need to be made. If my film has to be made then a Rohit Shetty film also should be made. A Pathaan has to flourish for my film to breathe. The industry is interdependent...A good film is a good film and it will reach the audience. And that is what Pathaan has proven,&rsquo; he said.
He added, &lsquo;You cannot keep a good film and a good man down for too long. There are some really good films that didn't find an audience. But then they found an audience on OTT or somewhere. Times are changing.&rsquo;
Talking about his projects, Hansal said, &lsquo;My intention is to gain a greater understanding of our world, of our times, to seek empathy for the people who suffer through this, through storytelling. The larger human empathy is for the people who go through this kind of ordeal. I will continue doing it. I approach my films with utmost sensitivity. I don't judge my characters, I don't pass judgments through the film, I explore them as human beings.&rsquo;
Hansal's latest film &lsquo;Faraaz&rsquo; is based on the July 2016 terror attack on a bakery in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The film, which stars Zahaan Kapoor and Aditya Rawal in the lead roles, released on February 3.

Delhi High Court refused to stay the release of Hansal Mehta&rsquo;s film, &lsquo;Faraaz&rsquo;, which is scheduled to release in theatres on Friday. Since the film is based on a 2016 terrorist attack in Dhaka, the court made it clear to the makers that they shall scrupulously adhere to a disclaimer that says the film is inspired by the attack and the elements contained in it are purely a work of fiction. The mothers of two victims of the Holey Artisan terrorist attack in Dhaka (Bangladesh) had objected to the release of the film on the ground of invasion of privacy.
According to the news agency PTI, a bench of justices Siddharth Mridul and Talwant Singh granted time to the appellants&rsquo; counsel to obtain further instructions in the matter and listed it for hearing on February 22. &nbsp;The court observed that the counsel for the filmmakers has categorically stated that pictures or images relating to the appellants&rsquo; daughters do not feature in the movie.
As the appellants&rsquo; counsel sought the court&rsquo;s direction to the filmmakers to shorten the disclaimer, the division bench said it was in full agreement with the view of a single-judge bench on the long disclaimer.

Former Bollywood actor of 'Mehendi' fame Faraaz Khan and son of senior actor Yusuf Khan, is currently fighting for his life in a Bengaluru hospital.
Faraaz who has been admitted to the ICU was reportedly diagnosed with a brain infection and pneumonia.
The actor requires ₹25 Lakhs for his treatment, out of which only ₹1.8 lakh has been generated through donations.
Meanwhile, actor-filmmaker Pooja Bhatt has urged her followers on Twitter to help raise funds for Faraaz's treatment.
