Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Monday met Union Home Minister Amit Shah to discuss certain issues related to the state government requiring approvals from the Centre.
The meeting took place at the residence of Shah, who is also the Union minister for cooperation.
"Met our leader, Hon Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amitbhai Shah in New Delhi today, as a follow up of some important issues of government of Maharashtra which require approvals from the government of India," Fadnavis said in a post on X.
Earlier, Fadnavis chaired a brainstorming session in the national capital on setting up the Bhonsala University in Nagpur.
The university is being planned by the Nagpur-based Central Hindu Military Education Society that runs the Bhonsala Military School.
The interactive session was moderated by Vijay Chauthaiwale, the BJP's foreign affairs department in-charge.
Several academic experts were present at the meeting.
"Chaired and interacted at a workshop in New Delhi, on Distinct Deemed University to be established in Maharashtra today. Also, heard and welcomed the views of various eminent experts from the education sector," Fadnavis said on X.
In his post on X, Chauthaiwale said, "Today in Delhi, I moderated a brain storming session chaired by Maharashtra's dynamic CM @Dev_Fadnavis ji, a mentor of an ambitious project of setting up world class "BHONSALA UNIVERSITY" in Nagpur. Several prominent academicians of the country gave their valuable inputs," Chauthaiwale said.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday said that the first World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit (WAVES) will take place in Mumbai from May 1 to 4.
The chief minister said Mumbai will be the permanent venue for the yearly summit, which will boost the "creative economy", the fastest-growing in terms of wealth and job creation.
He said 5,000 delegates from 100 countries are expected to attend the summit.
Fadnavis said the Indian Institute of Creative Technology (IICT) will come up on land in Film City, and the Centre and state government have inked a memorandum of understanding for this project.
He said that a 240-acre plot belonging to the Information and Broadcasting Ministry in Malad can be used for film production and post-production activities, he said.
Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw had earlier said WAVES will focus on nurturing creative talent through 31 &ldquo;Create in India&rdquo; challenges, which have already shortlisted over 400 creators across fields such as gaming, music, comics, animation, visual effects and broadcasting.
The goal is to help these creators transform their ideas into market-ready products while protecting their intellectual property rights.
More than 725 creators are expected to be showcased at the summit.

The Maharashtra government is creating an ecosystem to attract investment across all regions and implementing four river-linking projects worth around Rs 3 lakh crore to make the state drought-free, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said on Tuesday.
He said prominent regions and cities of Maharashtra are emerging as hubs in different sectors and this will address the issue of regional imbalance.
Speaking at the ''India Global Forum Next" event in Mumbai, Fadnavis maintained Maharashtra is ensuring smooth and uninterrupted facilities for investors, and an ecosystem is being created to attract investment across all regions of the state.
As a result, a balanced development will be seen throughout Maharashtra over the next five years, he insisted.
Fadnavis underlined that the state is creating new investment opportunities and supporting the global supply chain.
"The state is also leading in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in India. In addition, many major national and international companies are already operating in Maharashtra," the CM noted.
Four river-linking projects worth approximately Rs 3 lakh crore are being implemented to make the state drought-free, and a canal-based irrigation venture in Vidarbha is also underway, he said.
To meet the workforce demands of industries, a dedicated Skill University is functional, ensuring there was no shortage of trained manpower in the state, Fadnavis emphasised.
The Mahayuti government is encouraging setting up of industries based on green and smart technologies, he stated.
The Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), spread across the financial capital and its adjoining districts, will play a significant role in making Maharashtra a USD 3 trillion economy. The MMR alone has the capacity to build a USD 1.5 trillion economy, the CM noted.
The metropolis is already India's fintech capital, and a "Third Mumbai" is being developed in Navi Mumbai, Fadnavis said.
This new area (Third Mumbai) will include an EduCity and an Innovation City. Five universities are already in final stages of planning to set up their campuses in the proposed EduCity, he highlighted.
The Navi Mumbai International Airport is nearing completion, and the Atal Setu, a 21.8km-long sea bridge connecting Sewri (Mumbai) and Nhava Sheva (Navi Mumbai), has significantly improved connectivity to the upcoming airport and surrounding areas, Fadnavis averred.
The country's largest port is being developed at Vadhavan (in Palghar district) and it will be connected via the Mumbai-Nagpur Samruddhi Expressway, facilitating the development of a "Fourth Mumbai" in that region, he said.
Alongside the development of MMR, equal emphasis is being placed on rural and underdeveloped regions -- Pune is a major hub for the automobile industry, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar is emerging as a centre for the electric vehicle sector and Gadchiroli is set to rise as India's new steel hub, the CM pointed out.
The Vidarbha region is expanding rapidly in solar energy production and the 700-km-long Samruddhi Expressway will benefit farmers and entrepreneurs across 15 districts, he said.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Monday said stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra should apologise for insulting Deputy CM Eknath Shinde with his remarks, and asserted that "urban Naxals" and "Left liberals" supporting such acts will be taught a lesson.
Talking to reporters in the state legislature complex, Fadnavis said Kamra's action was condemnable.
During his performance at the Habitat Studio at the Unicontinental hotel in Mumbai's Khar area, Kamra had referred to Shiv Sena leader Shinde as a "traitor" and went on to sing a parody on him.
Kamra used a modified version of a Hindi song from the movie 'Dil Toh Pagal Hai' to describe the 2022 rebellion of Shinde against his then boss Uddhav Thackeray.
Fadnavis said, "The 2024 assembly polls results have shown who is 'gaddar' (traitor) and who is 'khuddar' (self-respecting). People have put a stamp of approval on Shinde being the true inheritor of (Shiv Sena founder) Bal Thackeray's legacy."
He said the people have defeated those who betrayed Bal Thackeray's ideology.
"People have the freedom of satire and comedy. But insulting (a person) deliberately is not allowed. Kamra showed the red book of the Constitution which is carried by Rahul Gandhi. Both have not read the Constitution. He cannot justify his action by showing the book," the CM said.
"The Constitution says when you attack others' freedom, your own freedom is restricted," Fadnavis said.
Kamra cannot justify his actions and escape action by showing Rahul Gandhi's Constitution (red book), he said.
Speaking in the state assembly after the issue figured in the House, Fadnavis reiterated that Kamra has insulted Shinde.
"We have no objection to political satire. We like and appreciate it. But insulting people on constitutional posts and targeting institutions will not be tolerated, and the 'urban Naxals' and 'Left liberals' supporting such acts will be taught a lesson," he said.
The "reckless" misuse of the freedom of speech will not be tolerated, the CM said.
How can comments made by influencer Ranveer Allahbadia about parents be tolerated? Fadnavis asked.
Allahbadia had been in the eye of storm over his comments during a show on parents and sex.
 "We will not succumb to the pressure and take strictest possible action," Fadnavis said.
He said Kamra has a history of making low-level comments on the Prime Minister, the Chief Justice of India and the judiciary.
"His modus operandi is to create a controversy for publicity," the chief minister said.
Fadnavis said Kamra has now targeted Deputy CM Shinde, and the people of Maharashtra showed through the 2024 assembly polls mandate that who is "khuddar" (self-respecting) and who is "gaddar" (traitor).
"Is Kamra bigger than the people of Maharashtra?" he asked.
The people of Maharashtra have shown that Shinde is the true inheritor of Shiv Sena founder Bal Thackeray's ideology.
"Kamra's aim was to belittle Shinde in the eyes of the people. The opposition is supporting such a talk and one wonders whether Kamra is hand-in-glove with the opposition. He has posted a picture of himself with a red copy of the Constitution book which Rahul Gandhi carries," Fadnavis said.
"When you attack the freedom of others, your freedom is restricted. If you insult people on constitutional posts to create disturbances by taking supari (contract) to get publicity, it will not be tolerated. No one will object to stand-up comedy and satire. If we behave recklessly in the garb of freedom of speech and expression, it will not be tolerated. Strict action will be taken as per law," the CM said.
Earlier, the House witnessed uproarious scenes over the Kamra show row, with Shiv Sena members demanding strict action against the stand-up comedian.
Arjun Khotkar (of Shiv Sena) raised the issue and demanded strict action against Kamra.
Minister Shambhuraj Desai also supported Khotkar's demand.
Members of the ruling benches were on their feet shouting slogans.
Speaker Rahul Narwekar then adjourned the House for five minutes.
On Sunday night, several Shiv Sena workers went to the studio and allegedly vandalised it and the hotel, according to police.
The Mumbai police on Monday registered an FIR against Kamra for allegedly making defamatory remarks against Shinde, officials earlier said.
The police also arrested Shiv Sena functionary Rahul Kanal and 11 others for ransacking the venue at the Mumbai hotel where Kamra made the controversial "traitor" jibe against Shinde, an official said.

Quota activist Manoj Jarange has said Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde should not listen to Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis and spell out why the notification on 'blood relatives&rsquo; of Kunbi Marathas was not being implemented. Jarange made the remarks late Sunday night after CM Shinde said the activist must not test the patience of his government.
Speaking in Antarwali Sarati village in Jalna district earlier on Sunday, Jarange alleged Fadnavis was trying to kill him. He also announced that he would march to Mumbai and protest outside the residence of the deputy CM.
Jarange had also claimed that a poisoning attempt was made against him through saline, though he did not elaborate on it.
He was speaking to reporters on the eve of the budget session of the Maharashtra legislature.
Jarange later left from Antarwali Sarati and stopped at Bhamberi village in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar while on way to Mumbai.
The Maharashtra legislature during a one-day special session last Tuesday unanimously passed a bill providing 10 per cent reservation for the Marathas in education and government jobs under a separate category, but Jarange has been firm on his demand for quota for the community under the OBC head and converting the notification on &lsquo;blood relatives&rsquo; of Kunbi Marathas into a law.
Asked about the CM's comments, Jarange told Marathi news channel ABP Majha, "I have not heard it. But he should tell why the notification for quota of relatives (of Marathas) was not implemented. I respected him a lot. He should not listen to Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and speak his (Fadnavis') language." Jarange said nobody is bigger than the Maratha community.
"It was his (Shinde's) responsibility to implement the notification for the relatives (of Marathas) and consider taking the gazette (of Nizam state, Satara) as proof for issuing certificates of Kunbi caste. The distribution of certificates has been stopped. Which demand was extra from our side?" he asked.
CM Shinde on Sunday said those who are protesting again and again against the government must not test its patience. They should not create a law and order problem.
He wondered why Jarange's speech looks like the script generally used by Sharad Pawar and Uddhav Thackeray.
Asked about it, Jarange said, "I still respect him (CM Shinde). Our caste is our &lsquo;script&rsquo;. Our feeling was you were a true chief minister. I am sincere and don&rsquo;t let me speak much. I am coming to Mumbai." "What should we say if cheating is being done. Do the three (Shinde, Fadnavis and Deputy CM Ajit Pawar) want to kill the Maratha community for their politics? The Maratha community still speaks in support of Shinde side and he should not listen to them (Fadnavis)," he said.
The activist asked if it was the government's culture to "befool" the people and file cases against them.
Jaranage said the government should tell what it did about the issue of Maratha quota.
"They did not take the gazette, data of records found in Marathwada was not given. The list of records found was not displayed in the gram panchayats," he claimed.
Earlier, Fadnavis said the state government has a fair idea about the people behind Jarange, adding that details would come out at an appropriate time.
Asked about Jarange's announcement that he would march to Mumbai to protest in front of his bungalow, the deputy CM said it was his official residence and anyone with any kind of work can visit it.

Fadnavis requested those who have made contact with him recently to get tested for the virus as well.

Speaking on the floor of the Legislative Assembly, the Leader of Opposition said he knew the capacity of the Mumbai Police since had had served as chief minister of the state for five years.
"But, the police can come under political pressure," he said.
Fadnavis also said since handling of Rajput death casewas "wrong", the probe was entrusted to the CBI.
"What had been happening? 40 days of inquest? This was a perfect case of 'aa bail mujhe maar' (inviting trouble)," he said referring to the probe of the case by Mumbai Police.
Seeking to dismiss allegations raised by the Shiv Sena and other ruling parties the the BJP's demand for a CBI probe had demoralised the police, Fadnavis said many legislators had passed adverse remarks against the police at different points of time.
"Even Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, during a rally in Kalyan, had said the police were capable of only washing utensils," he said.
Ranaut's recent remark comparing Mumbai to Pakistan- occupied Kashmir (PoK) has drawn ire of the ruling Shiv Sena whose leaders are targeting the BJP for defending her.
Fadnavis further said any reference to the CM without respect was wrong.
"Even though we are in opposition, but Uddhavji is our chief minister," the senior BJP leader said.
Citing the arrest of a Marathi news channel reporter over a report on partial resumption of train services during the initial phase of lockdown, Fadnavis said the state government wanted to stifle the voice of journalists who are critical of its functioning.&nbsp;
