Doctors, medical students among 13 people arrested in Mangaluru drug bust

The Mangaluru police had first arrested Neel Kishorilal Ramji Sha (38), an Indian-origin person, last week in connection with alleged drug peddling in his flat.

Three more people, including a doctor and a pharmacy student, were arrested in Mangaluru on Thursday in connection with drug use and peddling taking the total arrests so far in the case to 13, police said.
Among the arrests are three doctors, six medical students including four women and a pharmacy student. The remaining persons are drug peddlers, the police added.
The arrested persons have been identified as Harsh Kumar V S from Tumakuru, a final-year pathology student at Kasturba Medical College, final-year pharmacy student Adon Dev from Kochi and Mohammed Afrar from Mangaluru who works at a fruit shop, police said.

The Mangaluru police had first arrested Neel Kishorilal Ramji Sha (38), an Indian-origin person, last week in connection with alleged drug peddling in his flat.
He was residing in Mangaluru for the last 15 years and was a fourth year student of a dental college in the city.
Sha spilt the beans as the police interrogated him. Police found over two kilograms of marijuana, weapons, mobile phones, other electronic gadgets.
Based on his inputs, police arrested 13 people in the last two days.

Bollywood actor Shraddha Kapoor's brother Siddhanth Kapoor was released on bail late on Monday after he was arrested for alleged consumption of drugs. 
The other four people arrested have also been released on bail, said police.
Siddhanth Kapoor and the four others will have to further appear before the police as and when called, said Bheema Shankar Gulled, Deputy Commissioner of Police for East Bengaluru.
Siddhanth Kapoor was detained by Bengaluru Police earlier in the day for allegedly consuming drugs at a party in the city on Sunday night.
Guled said, "Siddhanth Kapoor's medical shows he had consumed drugs. We have already arrested him and are following the procedure. We will be sending him to judicial custody."
Acting on a tip-off, police raided a hotel on MG Road in the city on Sunday night where a party was hosted.
"Last night we got info that a party is going on and they have consumed drugs. We raided and detained 35 people. We didn't find any drugs on their person but found MDMA and ganja disposed of nearby. We will investigate CCTV to check who disposed it of," added DCP Guled.
Samples of people suspected of having consumed drugs were sent for medical tests and Siddhanth's sample tested positive. Police said it was unclear whether they had consumed drugs at the hotel or had come to the party after taking drugs outside.
"The hotel has been given notice, we have asked specific questions, they will have to answer. Bengaluru city police have declared war on drugs and this was part of it. Earlier in the month, we had conducted a raid where 34 people tested positive for drugs," added the senior police officer.
