State-run Doordarshan has changed the colour of its logo to orange, a move that has come under criticism from Opposition parties.
They have called it saffronisation of the broadcaster. TMC MP Jawhar Sircar said that it&rsquo;s not Prasar Bharati any more but is 'Prachar Bharati'.
Prasar Bharati CEO Gaurav Dwivedi has defended the move. Speaking to Indian Express, Dwivedi said, "&ldquo;Using a bright, appealing colour is purely about the channel&rsquo;s branding and visual aesthetic and it is unfortunate for anyone to be reading anything else into that."
&nbsp;&ldquo;It&rsquo;s not only a new logo, the entire look and feel has been upgraded &mdash; we have a new set, new lighting, seating arrangement and equipment," he added.

Gitanjali Aiyar, one of the first English news presenters of the country, died on Wednesday. She joined Doordarshan in 1971 and presented news on the channel for over 30 years. &nbsp;
She won the best anchor award four times in her career and was also presented with the Indira Gandhi Priyadarshini Award for Outstanding Women in 1989. Aiyar also presented a weekly song request show on All India Radio
Gitanjali Aiyar graduated from Kolkata's Loreto College with a degree in English and also held a diploma from the National School of Drama.

Leaders have been asked to avoid hugging, shaking hands and organisers have been asked to ensure availability of paper napkins and proper santisation of the venues. The Election Commission, meanwhile, doubled the broadcast time allotted to recognised political parties in Bihar on Doordarshan and All India Radio for "non-contact based" campaign.
