The blockbuster which is a sequel to the 2016 film, 'Doctor Strange' managed to garner ₹ Rs 30 crore on its first day and ₹ 26 crore on its second day.
The Benedict Cumberbatch starrer film is doing a phenomenal business in India as it has become its fifth market in the international circuit after Korea, UK, Mexico, and Brazil.'Doctor Strange 2' has also smashed its debut box office records which opened to Rs. 13.90 crores in November 2016.
'Variety’ states that the sequel has minted $27 million internationally on its opening day overseas. The film had sold $65 million worth of tickets in domestic pre-sales alone.
The Sam Raimi directorial follows the story of Doctor Stephen Strange who lands in the multiverse where he faces multiple alternate versions of himself. The film also stars Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff aka Scarlet Witch, Benedict Wong as Wong, and Xochitl Gomez as America Chavez.

Marvel Studios' much anticipated movie "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness" has been banned in Saudi Arabia and several other Arab countries due to the presence of a gay character.
The “Doctor Strange” sequel, which will release in the US on May 6, was originally scheduled for hit theatres in the Saudi Arabia and other Gulf countries on May 5.
According to Variety, the Saudi Arabian censors didn't issue the distribution certificate to the Benedict Cumberbatch-led superhero movie.
The Sam Raimi-directed sequel stars Cumberbatch as the titular character and also features new hero America Chavez, played by actor Xochitl Gomez. Her character in the film is reportedly gay.

Actor Hugh Jackman played the character for close to two decades starting with X-Men (2000) and right up to Logan (2017). However, according to the new leak, the Wolverine in the Doctor Strange sequel will be played a new actor altogether. 
Movie insider Jospeh Deckleimer tweeted on Sunday that, "We will see Wolverine in #DoctorStrangeInTheMultiverseOfMadness but it definitely won’t be Hugh Jackman." This led to fans speculating as to who the new Wolverine actor could be, with names like Daniel Radcliffe and Cal Dodd doing the rounds. 
Other leaks and rumours have claimed the presence of several other stars in the film, most notably Tom Cruise playing a version of Iron Man, Ryan Reynolds reprising his role as Deadpool, and John Krasinski introducing a new version of Mr Fantastic. The film's new trailer appeared to also welcome back Patrick Stewart as Professor X. Patrick and Hugh acted alongside each other for almost the entire length of the X-Men franchise.  Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, directed by Sam Raimi, is part of Phase 4 of the MCU. Mark these dates on your calendar. 2021 and 2022 will be an exciting time for Marvel fans, as a whole host of big ticket Hollywood releases are slated for the end of this year and early next year.&nbsp;
Disney India has announced the release dates of the much-awaited movies from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which include films like 'Eternals'&nbsp;and 'Doctor strange: Multiverse&nbsp;of Madness'.
'Eternals' starring Angelina Jolie, Kit Harrington and Richard Madden, will be releasing in India along with the US on Diwali, November 5. The film will release in six Indian languages - English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam.&nbsp;
'Doctor Strange: Multiverse Of Madness' will hit the theatres on March 25, 2022; while Chris Hemsworth-starrer&nbsp;'Thor: Love and Thunder' will be released in Indian theatres on May 6, 2022. 'Black Panther: Wakanda Forever' will release on July 8, 2022.
