Delhi minister Atishi on Sunday rued the fact that Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was not invited to an event, in which a metro line was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
She said not inviting the Delhi chief minister to an event of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) reflects "cheap mentality" and added that the prime minister should rise above party lines.
The nearly 2-km extension of the Airport Express metro line from the Dwarka Sector 21 station to the YashoBhoomi Dwarka Sector 25 station was inaugurated by Modi on Sunday. The line will be opened to passengers later in the day.
Addressing a press conference, Atishi pointed out that the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is a 50:50 venture of the Centre and the city government.
"This means half the funds are spent by the city government and the other half by the Centre. But it was not considered important to invite the Delhi chief minister to the event. I want to tell the prime minister that he is the guardian of all the state governments. He should rise above party lines," she said.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader said not inviting Kejriwal to a DMRC event reflects "cheap mentality" and added that since Delhi is the national capital, the Centre and the city government should work together for its development.

Delhi Metro passengers can now conveniently travel on the Airport Line using a newly launched ticketing service based on WhatsApp. This digital system enables commuters to receive QR code-based tickets directly through WhatsApp. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation introduced this service on Tuesday. By adding the official DMRC WhatsApp number (9650855800) to their contact list, passengers can use the dedicated WhatsApp chatbot to generate QR code-based tickets in English or Hindi. This feature is especially beneficial for national and international travellers using the Airport Line, as they can conveniently purchase and use tickets directly from their smartphones. Each passenger can generate a maximum of six QR code-based tickets for single or group journeys, which remain valid until the end of the business day. However, passengers must exit within 65 minutes of reaching their destination station or within 30 minutes if exiting at the source station. The service is available during business hours, and a nominal convenience fee is charged for credit or debit card transactions, while UPI-based transactions are fee-free. &nbsp; &nbsp;

Tamil Nadu Assembly witnessed ruckus immediately after Governor R N Ravi began his customary address of the opening session on Monday. Legislators of the ruling DMK and its allies, the Congress and the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) started raising slogans against the Governor for his recent remarks that 'Tamizhagam' rather than 'Tamil Nadu'would be more appropriate name for the State and staged a walkout from the assembly.
DMK MLAs also raised slogans against the Governor, saying "don't impose BJP, RSS ideology."
The DMK and allies opposed the Governor's stand and accused him of toeing the BJP's ideological position. "This is not Nagaland, this is proud Tamil Nadu," the legislators raised sloganeering. However, Governor Ravi continued delivering his address amid the uproar. There was also a demand to ban online gambling by the leaders in the assembly. Legislators protested putting the blame on the Governor who has not yet given his assent to the Bill banning online gambling.
The state is witnessing a tussle between the ruling DMK regime and the Raj Bhavan over several bills which are pending with the Governor including the one prohibiting online gambling, and wager-based online games of chance of Rummy.

Delhi Metro's Blue Line and Pink Line hit the racks on Wednesday after being closed for 171 days due to the coronavirus-induced lockdown. On Monday, the Delhi Metro had resumed services on its Yellow Line, with curtailed operations and a slew of measures for safety of passengers and employees. Trains are to operate in batches of four-hour each from 7-11 AM in the morning and 4-8 PM in the evening for now. Over 15,000 passengers availed the Yellow Line and Rapid Metro combined on the first day of resumption of services on Monday.

New Delhi, PTI: Delhi Metro's Blue Line and Pink Line hit the racks on Wednesday after being closed for 171 days due to the coronavirus-induced lockdown.
On Monday, the Delhi Metro had resumed services on its Yellow Line, with curtailed operations and a slew of measures for safety of passengers and employees.
Metro services in Delhi-NCR were closed since March 22 due to the pandemic.
The Ministry of Home Affairs had recently issued guidelines allowing the Delhi Metro to resume operations in a graded manner, following which the DMRC had said it would be done in three stages from September 7-12.
Under stage one, Yellow Line or Line 2 and Rapid Metro were made operational with restricted service hours.
Trains are to operate in batches of four-hour each from 7-11 AM in the morning and 4-8 PM in the evening in the first stage, it said.
While nearly 15,500 passengers availed the Yellow Line and Rapid Metro combined on Monday, on Tuesday, the figures after the the end of services at 11 AM, stood at 8,300, officials said.
"As part of the stage I of graded resumption of metro services, the Delhi Metro will resume operations after 171 days on its Blue Line i.e., Line-3/4 from Dwarka Sector 21 to Electronic City/Vaishali (65.35 km, 58 stations) and Pink Line i.e., Line-7 from Majlis Park to Shiv Vihar (57.58 km, 38 stations) from tomorrow," the DMRC said in a statement.
Services will be available on both of these lines from 7-11 AM in the morning and from 4-8 PM in the evening along with Yellow Line and Rapid Line which are already operational as per the given timings, it said.
