In an apparent display of unity, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Tuesday visited his deputy D K Shivakumar's residence for breakfast, just days after the two broke bread in the wake of a raging power tussle.
Shivakumar said, they have reaffirmed their commitment to good governance and the continued development of the state under the Congress vision.
Siddaramaiah drove down to the Deputy CM's Sadashivanagar residence here, where he was received by Shivakumar and his brother and former Congress MP D K Suresh.
Suresh and Kunigal MLA H D Ranganath (a relative of Shivakumar), joined the two leaders for breakfast, which apparently had a combination of veg and non-veg dishes.
"Hosted the Hon'ble CM for breakfast at my residence today as we reaffirm our commitment to good governance and the continued development of our state under the Congress vision," Shivakumar posted on 'X'.

Though this is being projected as a reciprocal visit, after Shivakumar visited the CM's official residence three days ago for a similar breakfast meeting, the political ramifications of it are being keenly watched, as it is taking place as per the directions of the Congress high command.
On Monday, Shivakumar had said that he and CM were "working like brothers", while asserting that there were no groups in the state Congress, and blamed the media for creating confusion.
Following the initial breakfast meeting on Saturday, at the CM's official residence, as part of an attempt by the Congress high command to break the logjam over the leadership row involving the two leaders, both Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar had publicly stated that "there won't be any confusion".
On the leadership issue, the two had maintained that they would obey the high command.
The development is seen as a move by the high command to pause the leadership tussle between the two, and signals Siddaramaiah's continuation as the CM for the time being, especially ahead of the Belagavi legislature session from December 8.
The power tussle within the ruling party had intensified amid speculations about a change in chief minister in the state after the Congress government reached the halfway mark of its five-year term on November 20. The speculation was fuelled by talks of a 'power-sharing' agreement said to have been arrived at while the party was elected to power in 2023.
Meanwhile, Home Minister G Parameshwara termed the breakfast meeting as a "good development", and expressed hope that all issues are settled.
"It's a good thing that our leaders are getting together again for breakfast. All we want is a peaceful settlement of whatever has happened over the month or so. As suggested by the high command, they are meeting for the second time. I hope all the issues are settled," he told reporters here.
Stating that it is just a reciprocal breakfast meeting, and nothing else, he said, "Siddaramaiah had called Shivakumar, and now Shivakumar has called Siddaramaiah. It's a nice development. We see it as a nice development."
On other leaders not being invited for the breakfast meeting, Parameshwara said, "We normally have a CLP (Congress Legislature Party) meeting, which is followed by dinner together. There is nothing wrong with it. We also feel that everything is going smoothly."
Regarding the demand from some sections to see him as CM, Parameshwara said, "Different people have different aspirations. I don't think it is wrong. Naturally, people want to see their own leaders (as CM), and express their aspirations when the time comes."

Official sources on Monday said the CM is likely to have breakfast with Shivakumar on December 2.
However, Siddaramaiah said he is yet to receive a formal invitation and would go on receiving it, while Shivakumar maintained that it's a matter between him and the CM, and that they were working like "brothers".
In an attempt to break the logjam over the leadership row involving the two leaders, Shivakumar had visited the CM's residence for a similar breakfast meeting, convened by Siddaramaiah at the behest of the Congress high command.
Following the initial meeting held on Saturday both leaders had publicly stated that "there won't be any confusion".
On the leadership issue, Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar maintained that they would obey the high command.
The development is seen as a move by the high command to pause the leadership tussle between the two, and signals Siddaramaiah's continuation as the CM for time being, especially ahead of the Belagavi legislature session from December 8.
"As told by the CM on Saturday, he is scheduled to visit Shivakumar's residence for breakfast tomorrow," official sources said.
However, speaking to reporters on Monday, Siddaramaiah said, "On that day (Saturday) he (Shivakumar) asked me to come to his house for breakfast on Tuesday. I have not received any call till now, other than what he said day before yesterday. If invited, I will go. He may call. I think he will invite me."
Meanwhile, responding to a question if he has extended an invitation to the CM to join him for breakfast, Shivakumar said, "It's a matter related to me and the CM, we both are working like brothers."
"We met under your (media) pressure (on November 29). There was no need for it. You are alleging groupism, but there are no groups. You are creating groups -- DK group , Siddaramaiah group and others," the state Congress chief said.
Asserting that he is not in any group, Shivakumar added, "I have 140 people (MLAs) with me."
"When we are born or die, we are alone. When it comes to the party, we will take everyone together. There is no need for anyone to worry."

While Siddaramaiah is asserting that he would complete five years term, Shivakumar wants to replace him to hold the coveted post as the Congress government completed half of its five years term on November 20.

The cryptic post is seen as his reminder to the Congress and Siddaramaiah about a rumoured power-sharing agreement between the two in 2023 when both vied for the CM's chair after the party swept the state polls.
In his post explaining how he "bettered the world", Siddaramaiah spoke about the five guarantee schemes -- Shakti, Gruha Lakshmi, Yuva Nidhi, Anna Bhagya and Gruha Jyoti.
These are schemes in various sectors including providing free electricity, cash dole to women heads and free bus rides for women.
Siddaramaiah said that in his first term from 2013 to 2018, 157 of 165 promises were fulfilled with over 95 per cent delivery. In the current term, over 243 assurances out of 593 are already completed, and "every remaining promise will be fulfilled with commitment, credibility, and care", he added.
"The mandate given by the people of Karnataka is not a moment, but a responsibility that lasts five full years. The Congress party, including me, is walking the talk for our people with compassion, consistency, and courage. Our word to Karnataka is not a slogan, it means the world to us," the Chief Minister said.
There was stiff competition between Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar for the chief minister's post after the declaration of Assembly election results on 20 May 2023, and the Congress had managed to convince the latter and made him the Deputy CM.
There were some reports at the time that a compromise had been reached based on a "rotational chief minister formula," according to which Shivakumar will become CM after 2.5 years, but they have not been officially confirmed by the party.
However, Siddaramaiah rejected these reports and asserted that he will be the chief minister for five years.
MLAs and ministers loyal to Shivakumar have been going to Delhi to impress upon the party high command to make their leader Chief Minister "as agreed upon", Congress sources said.

Shivakumar, also the state Congress president, had taken everyone by surprise by singing the RSS prayer song on the floor of the House recently.
"I am sorry if anyone is hurt," he said. "None from the party high command have questioned me on this." The deputy CM told reporters that he only made a "passing reference" in the Assembly.
"I'm not bigger than anyone, my life is there to give strength to everyone. I have stood by everyone in their difficulty, still I stand by them...as a loyal Congressman I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings... If you want an apology, yes. For all the Congressmen and many political party friends of INDIA bloc they may be hurt." "If you feel that I have committed a mistake, which I have not done, I'm still ready to apologise," he said.
On August 21, Shivakumar recited a couple of lines of the RSS' prayer "Namaste Sada Vatsale..." in the Assembly during a debate on the June 4 Chinnaswamy stadium stampede. The BJP had welcomed Shivakumar singing the anthem by thumping the desks in the House.
Reaffirming his loyalty to the Congress party and Gandhi family, Shivakumar further said, "My loyalty to the Congress party and Gandhi family cannot be questioned by anyone." "I'm a born Congressman, I will die as a Congressman." Senior Congress leader B K Hariprasad on Monday had wondered if Shivakumar was trying to &ldquo;impress someone&rdquo; by singing the RSS' prayer inside the Assembly.
"We have no objection to Shivakumar reciting the prayer as the Deputy CM because a government belongs to all, including the RSS. If he said it as Congress president, he&rsquo;ll have to apologise," he had demanded.&nbsp;

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar has said that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) was being misused for political purposes, and cited his own case as an example of such "abuse".
Speaking to reporters in Kodihalli, Kanakapura on Monday, he said the Supreme Court's observations in the MUDA case, where it dismissed the ED's appeal, reflected a pattern of selective targeting.
"My case itself is proof of the ED being misused politically. They filed a case against me, sent me to Tihar Jail, and eventually the case was dropped," he said.
The Deputy CM urged the ED to introspect and examine whether it is succumbing to political pressure.
Referring to the MUDA case, he said, "Once a 'B' report was submitted, there was no question of further appeal. That is probably why the Supreme Court made such observations." Shivakumar questioned why ED cases were being filed only against Congress leaders.
"Why are there no ED cases against BJP leaders? Why are only Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, Robert Vadra and other Congress leaders targeted? Has everyone who joined the BJP suddenly become pure? Isn't this the BJP's washing machine?" he asked.
Shivakumar's remarks follow the Supreme Court's dismissal of the Special Leave Petitions (SLPs) filed by the ED in the MUDA (Mysuru Urban Development Authority) land allotment case involving Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's wife Parvathi B M and Congress MLA Byrathi Suresh.
The Karnataka High Court had earlier quashed the ED's notices in the case, observing that the agency acted without legal basis under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
The Supreme Court upheld that decision, stating that it found no fault in the High Court's ruling.
The MUDA case involves the allotment of compensatory sites to Parvathi in an upmarket Mysuru locality in lieu of 3.16 acres of land acquired from her by MUDA.
The ED had issued notices alleging irregularities in the allotment, but the courts have now rejected those proceedings.

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Wednesday asserted that he will be in office for a full five-year term.
He said that the Congress party was united and the party's government will be in power "solid as a rock" for five years.
"Yes, I will be. Why do you have the doubts?" Siddaramaiah said in response to a question by reporters whether he will be the CM for five years.
There has been speculation within political circles, especially within the ruling Congress, for some time now about the Chief Minister change later this year, citing power-sharing agreement involving Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar.
However, Shivakumar on Tuesday said there is no discussion on leadership change and stressed on strengthening the hands of CM Siddaramaiah and the party's government in the state.
Responding to a question on claims by the BJP and JD(S) leaders that the CM will be replaced, Siddaramaiah shot back, "Are they our high command?" "R Ashoka (Leader of Opposition in the Assembly) is a BJP man. B Y Vijayendra (state BJP President) is a BJP man. Chalavadi Narayanaswamy (Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council) is a BJP man. Will you write if they say such things? Should you verify or not?" he asked.
Alleging the BJP of spreading lies about the stability of the government, Siddaramaiah said that the Congress party was united and the government will be in power "solid as a rock" for five years.
"No one believes in the BJP. They only lie. They are experts in lying. They don't know how to speak the truth. So, whether they believe it or not, we don't know. We are all together (in Congress). As I have said in Mysuru recently, we will be in power for five years. Our government will be as solid as a rock. BJP people are daydreaming," he said.
Accusing the BJP of doing nothing while in power, he asked, what evidence have they left to say that they have worked for the development of the state in sectors such as -- irrigation, rural development, public works, education, and health? "They (BJP) were in power for about four years and for 1.2 years in coalition government with JD(S) under H D Kumaraswamy's Chief Ministership. What have they done? They have done nothing. By lying they are trying to mislead the people," he added.
Responding to a question on ministerial aspirants in the Congress, the CM said the Congress high command will decide.
"In a democracy, everyone has the right to become a CM. The high command (of Congress) will ultimately decide. There are about 140 people (legislators) in our party. Only 34 people can be made ministers. Can everybody be made minister?" he asked.

The Kerala government on Saturday reiterated that no animal sacrifice was held near a temple in the northern part of the state as claimed by Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar.
Kerala Devaswom Minister K Radhakrishnan said that Shivakumar had made a huge allegation that animal sacrifice was performed near the Rajarajeshwara temple at Taliparamba in Kannur district of the state against him, CM Siddaramaiah and the Congress government in Karnataka.
"We investigated the claim and also contacted the Malabar Devaswom Board. The preliminary report we got states that nothing like that has happened in or near the temple. The Devaswom Board also confirmed it," the minister said.
He said that it needs to be examined why Shivakumar made such an allegation.
Radhakrishnan also said that the government was investigating whether anything as alleged by the Karnataka Deputy CM happened anywhere else in Kerala, even though according to initial reports such an incident has not occurred in the state.
He also said that animal sacrifices were prohibited by law since 1968 and therefore, it was unlikely that it took place in Kerala.
The managing committee of the temple in question had on Friday refuted Shivakumar's allegations and termed his claims as 100 per cent false.
The Special Branch has also given a report to the State Police Chief stating there is no evidence of any animal sacrifice taking place near a temple in Kerala as claimed by the Deputy CM of Karnataka.
Shivakumar on Thursday had claimed that a ritual named "Shatru Bhairavi Yaga", which involves the sacrifice of animals, was performed at a temple in Kerala, targeting him, Siddaramaiah and the Congress government in Karnataka.
Without revealing any names, he had alleged that some political people in Karnataka were getting the ritual done, and that 'aghoris' (monastic order of ascetic Shaivite sadhus) were being consulted for it.

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar on Saturday said he has received an Income Tax notice though the case against him was a &lsquo;settled matter&rsquo;.
Accusing the Centre of harassing the opposition, the Kanakapura MLA and state Congress chief said the BJP was afraid of the Congress and the INDIA bloc.
&ldquo;I too got a notice last night from the Income Tax, which is already a settled matter. I was shocked, as well as my personal assistant and all,&rdquo; Shivakumar said.
The DCM said, &ldquo;The I-T officials were going to all the places even though the matter is in the court.&rdquo;
There are many cases involving BJP leaders against whom no action is supposed to be taken, he said, but refused to make the details of the cases public.

The Supreme Court on Tuesday dismissed money laundering charges against Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister and senior Congress leader DK Shivakumar.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) had booked Shivakumar for alleged offences under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act in 2018.&nbsp;
The case was based on a charge sheet filed by the Income Tax Department before a special court in Bengaluru, accusing Shivakumar and his alleged associate SK Sharma of tax evasion and 'hawala' transactions worth crores of rupees.
The Congress leader was arrested by the ED in September 2019 and sent to Tihar Jail. The Delhi High Court granted him bail a month later on a Rs 25-lakh bond, barring him from leaving the country.
Throughout the legal saga, Shivakumar maintained that he was innocent, and accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of political vendetta.

Congress leader DK Shivakumar, one of the party's five observers sent to Himachal, categorically brushed aside rumours of Sukhwinder Sukhu's government falling in the state, a day after six of its MLAs were suspended for cross-voting during Rajya Sabha elections.
In a press meet on February 29, Shivakumar, who appeared with CM Sukku, Congress leader Pratibha Singh, and other members, said that all issues have been sorted out and exuded confidence in the Congress government completing its five-year term in Himachal Pradesh.
"Our CM accepted that some failure has happened. But it will not continue further. We have spoken to all the MLAs personally. We have spoken to the PCC president, CM. One round of discussion will happen later. So all of them have sorted out all their differences. They'll work together... We are forming a coordination committee between the party and the government with five to six members....They will all work together to save the party and save the government," Shivakumar said.
Earlier, Pratibha Singh, wife of former Himachal CM Virbhadra Singh, said it was natural for MLAs to be upset, seemingly backing the six rebel MLAs who had cross-voted in the Rajya Sabha elections.
"Definitely, why not? When it has been more than a year and you take no cognizance or listen to them, it is natural for them to be upset. Had you sat them down, talked to them, and found out a solution, this situation would not have occurred," she said.
Following the disqualification of the rebel legislators, the effective strength of the House has reduced from 68 to 62 while the number of Congress MLAs has shrunk from 40 to 34.
It is for the first time in the history of Himachal Pradesh that any MLA has been disqualified under the anti-defection law aimed at checking defections.
The disqualified MLAs are Rajinder Rana, Sudhir Sharma, Inder Dutt Lakhanpal, Devinder Kumar Bhutoo, Ravi Thakur and Chetanya Sharma.
