BJP chief JP Nadda has reportedly pulled up a party MLA from UP who has been defending an aide who shot a man dead in public in Ballia. Nadda has sought an explanation from Ballia MLA Surendra Singh and has also reportedly warned the party's UP chief over the MLA's conduct. The BJP's notice to the MLA comes four days after his aide, former army man Dhirendra Singh, allegedly shot a villager dead during a Panchayat meeting in the presence of officials and the police. The MLA had defended the alleged killer saying that he fired in self-defence. Dhirendra Singh, was missing since the shooting on Thursday, was arrested on Sunday.

Ballia shooting accused Direndra Singh arrested

Dhirendra Singh, the main accused in the Ballia shooting case, was arrested by the Uttar Pradesh Police on Sunday. A team of UP Special Task Force (STF) team arrested Singh near Janeshwar Mishra Park in Lucknow. Two other accused -- Santosh Yadav and Marajeet Yadav have also arrested. So far, 10 people have been arrested in the shooting case. A police official said that arms were also recovered from the possession of Dhirendra Singh's accomplices. Reports quoting STF sources said, Dhirendra Singh had contacted several BJP leader in Uttar Pradesh after he fled. The Uttar Pradesh Police has said that those accused in the killing of a 46-year-old man in UP's Ballia will be charged under the National Security Act and the Gangster Act.
