Newly appointed Uttar Pradesh DGP Rajiv Krishna on Monday unveiled a 10-point agenda to elevate policing standards in the state, underlining that police will maintain an uncompromising stance against criminals.
Addressing his first press conference here, the 1991-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer said he will focus on ensuring women's safety, tackling cybercrime and addressing public complaints.
Krishna also expressed his gratitude to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for trusting him to lead the world's largest police force.
"This is a huge responsibility and I am committed to taking Uttar Pradesh Police to unprecedented heights of excellence," he said.
"In the last eight years, under the energetic leadership and clear vision of the Hon'ble Chief Minister, the direction of policing in the state has remained consistent. I will continue on this path with renewed strategic focus and enthusiasm," he added.
Krishna unveiled a comprehensive 10-point agenda to elevate policing standards in the state.
He said police will maintain an uncompromising stance against criminals, especially organised crime networks.
"Zero tolerance towards crime will remain the bedrock of our law enforcement strategy. We aim to create a secure environment for all citizens," he said.
Underlining the urgent need to address crimes against women, Krishna said special focus will be on its prevention and redressal.
"Our initiatives will be directed at empowering women and reinforcing their sense of safety," he said.
The DGP further said that responsive and sensitive handling of public grievances will be a top priority.
"We will ensure that every voice is heard and every complaint is resolved empathetically and swiftly," he said.
Krishna warned that any disruption will be dealt with firmly. He also identified cybercrime as a growing challenge, especially in the post-Covid era.
"We have strengthened our cyber infrastructure and will further modernise it using advanced technologies," he noted.
Krishna took charge as DGP on May 31, replacing Prashant Kumar on his superannuation.

A significant incident has unfolded involving Ranya Rao, the daughter of a high-ranking police officer, who was apprehended at Bengaluru airport on Monday night. The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) arrested Ms. Rao after discovering 14.8 kg of gold in her possession.
This news has reportedly left her stepfather, Ramachandra Rao, Director-General of Police for the Karnataka State Police Housing Corporation, both shocked and devastated.
Mr. Rao attempted to distance himself from his stepdaughter's actions, stating, "The law will do its job. There is no black mark on my career," as reported by ANI.
Expressing his surprise, he added, "Like any other father, I was shocked and devastated when it came to my notice through the media. I was not aware of any of these things."
He emphasized that Ms. Rao does not reside with them but lives separately with her husband, suggesting possible personal issues as a contributing factor.
Ranya Rao, who is known for her acting role opposite Kannada superstar Sudeep in the 2014 film 'Maanikya', was intercepted by the DRI after returning from Dubai on an Emirates flight.
She was allegedly attempting to smuggle the gold by wearing some of it and concealing the rest within her clothing. It has been reported that two aides also carried gold bars in briefcases.
Investigations revealed that Ms. Rao might have leveraged her connections to bypass security checks, introducing herself as the daughter of a DGP in Karnataka and seeking an escort from local police.
The authorities had been monitoring her activities due to the frequency of her travels to Dubai&mdash;four trips in 15 days&mdash;and seized the opportunity to catch her during this last trip.
The DRI team intervened just as she was about to clear customs. The gold, valued at approximately Rs. 12.56 crore, represents one of the largest seizures at Bengaluru airport in recent years.
Further searches conducted at her home on Lavelle Road in Bengaluru resulted in additional discoveries of Rs. 2.06 crore in gold jewelry and Rs. 2.67 crore in cash, totaling Rs. 17.29 crore involved in this case, significantly impacting organized gold smuggling networks.
The DRI has detained Ms. Rao under relevant provisions of the Customs Act, and she has been remanded to judicial custody.
The ongoing investigation seeks to uncover any possible connections with law enforcement officials or others who might have aided the smuggling attempt, and determine whether she was acting independently or as part of a larger network.

The West Bengal government on Monday appointed Vivek Sahay as the new DGP, hours after the Election Commission of India removed Rajeev Kumar from the post, sources said.

Rajeev Kumar, who was appointed as the DGP last December, was reassigned to the information and technology department, a role unrelated to election duties. Sources said the move is an interim arrangement.
The decision to transfer Rajeev Kumar stemmed from his previous removal from active election management duties during the 2016 assembly elections and the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.
Consequently, the EC instructed the Chief Secretary BP Gopalika to reassign Kumar to a non-election-related role and appoint an officer junior to him as DGP temporarily.
In response to the EC's directive, the state government provided a panel of three officers for consideration: Vivek Sahay, Sanjay Mukherjee, and Rajesh Kumar.
Incidentally, Vivek Sahay had previously faced suspension by the EC in March 2021 during his tenure as the director of security.
This action was taken following an incident during which Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee sustained injuries in Nandigram during the 2021 state assembly elections.
The incident involving the Bengal CM occurred when she was greeting her supporters from the footboard of her vehicle. Due to pressure from the crowd, she was sandwiched between the front door and seat of the car, resulting in injuries to her left foot.&nbsp;

The Maharashtra government on Wednesday appointed Rashmi Shukla, a 1988-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, as the state's next director general of police.&nbsp;

Rashmi Shukla, a 1988-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, was appointed as Maharastra's next director general of police (DGP) on January 4, becoming the first woman cop to take over the reins of the state police force.
Shukla will succeed Rajnish Seth, who retired on Sunday and took charge as the chairman of the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC). Mumbai police commissioner Vivek Phansalkar was holding the additional charge as DGP Maharashtra after Seth retired.
Before being appointed as the DGP, Shukla served as the director of the Sashastra Seema Bal, the central police force deployed along the border with Nepal.
The senior police officer was also the Pune police commissioner and headed the State Intelligence Department (SID) when the Devendra Fadnavis-led BJP government was in power.
According to reports, Shukla will turn 60 in June this year, but is expected to get a two-year term.
Her tenure as the head of the SID was mired in controversy after the opposition leaders alleged that their phones were being tapped by the Devendra Fadnavis-led government between 2014 and 2019. FIRs were also registered against her when the Uddhav Thackeray-led Maha Vikas Aghadi came to power.
Shukla was then transferred to Civil Defence, seen as a non-executive post, in 2020 by the Thackeray government due to her perceived close relations with the BJP.&nbsp;
In September 2023, the Bombay High Court quashed two of the three FIRs &ndash; in Pune and Mumbai &ndash; registered against her. After the Eknath Shinde-Fadnavis government came to power in Maharashtra, the third case was transferred to the CBI.
But this case also got closed last month after the high court allowed the CBI&rsquo;s closure report, paving the way for her return to the state

The JD(U) released list of the candidates at a press conference addressed by state president Basistha Narayan Singh, party leader in Rajya Sabha RCP Singh and its state working president Ashok Choudhary.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar headed party has already allocated seven seats out of its quota of 122 seats in the 243-member assembly to its associate partner Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) of former chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi.
Roy, father of Tej Pratap Yadav's estranged wife Aishwarya, had recently switched over to the JD(U) from RJD.
Roy, son of former chief minister Daroga Prasd Rai and a minister in the RJD government in the past as well in the 2015 Grand Alliance ministry, will be in fray from Parsa constituency in Saran district which he has represented six times in the past.
The name of the former state police chief Gupteshwar Pandey, who took VRS last month and later was given membership of the JD(U) by the chief minister himself, is missing from the list of nominees made public during the day.
Buxar, hometown of Pandey and Shahpur constituency from where it was speculated in the media that he might contest the state polls have gone to the BJP under seat-sharing formula.
The JD(U) got two seats in the Buxar district- Dumraon and Rajpur (reserved SC)-where it named Anjum Ara and state minister Santosh Kumar Nirala respectively.
Kumar's party has yet not named anybody for the Valmiki Nagar Lok Sabha seat which will see by-election on November 7.
The by-poll has been necessitated due to death of JD(U0 sitting MP Baidyanath Mahto. There was hectic speculations in the media about chance of the former DGP being fielded from there.
Pandey, who had hit the national headlines in the death case of actor Sushant Singh Rajput, hopes now rest on Valmiki Nagar bypolls or a berth in the legislative council in future.
Though Pandey could not find place in the JD(U)'s list, his former police colleague Sunil Kumar, who retired as Director General (Home Guards) recently has been nominated by the JD(U) from Bhore (reserved seat) in Gopalganj district.
Majority of the ministers and turncoats have been given ticket by the JD(U).
Speaker of the outgoing assembly Vijay Kumar Chaudhary will contest from his traditional seat Saraiganj in Samastipur district.
Ministers- Bijendra Prasad Yadav, Ram Sevak Singh, Shrawan Kumar, Jai Kumar Singh, Bima Bharti, Madan Sahni, Khursheed Firoz Ahmad, Shailesh Kumar and Krishnandan Prasad Varma have been repeated from their old constituencies.
Jaivardhan Singh Yadav, grandson of former Bihar minister and a powerful yadav leader Ramlakhan Singh Yadav has been given ticket from his old seat Paliganj while Faraz Fatmi has been named from Darbhanga rural seat. Both had left RJD and joined JD(U) recently.
The two RLSP MLAs-Lallan Paswan and Sudhansu Sekhar- who had crossed over to Kumar's party have also been renominated.
HAM has already named its seven candidates. Jitan Ram Manjhi filed his nomination Wednesday from Imamganj (reserved SC) seat.&nbsp;

Patna, PTI: Bihar Director General of Police (DGP) Gupteshwar Pandey on Tuesday took voluntary retirement from service, triggering speculations that the outspoken officer would contest the coming state Assembly polls.
Pandey's request seeking voluntary retirement was approved by Governor Phagu Chauhan, a notification issued by the state home department said.
Director General (Homeguards) SK Singhal has been given additional charge of DGP, ADG (Headquarters) Jitendra Kumar told PTI.&nbsp;
Pandey, a 1987 batch IPS officer, was involved in the investigation of actor Sushant Singh Rajput's death by suicide in Mumbai.
He had recently been in the headlines for his stout defence of the Nitish Kumar administration when it was under attack from the Shiv Sena-led government in Maharashtra over Bihar Police's probe into the death of Rajput.&nbsp;
