The woman, a second-year B.Com student enrolled with DU's Non-Collegiate Women&rsquo;s Education Board, had claimed that three men hurled acid on her near Ashok Vihar while she was on her way to an extra class on Sunday.
However, the police said they found no traces of acid at the spot, nor was there any sighting of the attackers in CCTV footage from the crime scene. The Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team also failed to find any discarded acid bottles in the area, and the probe revealed that she had poured toilet cleaner on her own hand to frame the accused, who are her relatives, they said.
A police officer said, "The girl will be examined today. Team, including other senior police officers, will question her to know the reason behind it. So far, we got to know that the entire family is behind the conspiracy," the officer added.
Her father, Akil Khan, was arrested on Monday after he confessed to plotting the fake attack to avenge a rape complaint filed against him by the wife of one of the men his daughter had named. The woman had earlier accused Khan of sexually assaulting her between 2021 and 2024 while she worked in his socks factory.
Meanwhile, the police said the examination of the liquid seized from the scene has confirmed it is a toilet cleaner, not acid. Further probe is underway.

According to police, the slain gangsters have been identified as Ranjan Pathak, Vimlesh Mahto, Manish Pathak and Aman Thakur -- all residents of Bihar who were wanted for heinous crimes, including multiple murders and extortion.
During the operation, the accused allegedly opened fire at the police team, prompting retaliatory action that left all four injured, the officer said.
They were rushed to a hospital in Rohini, where doctors declared them brought dead, he added.
Ranjan Pathak, the gang's kingpin, operated an organised criminal network in parts of Bihar and adjoining states, police sources added.

Delhi Police has booked a self-styled godman, Swami Chaitanyananda Saraswati alias Parth Sarthy, after several female students of a management institute here accused him of sexual harassment. Despite raids and surveillance, the accused remains on the run.
The complaint was filed on August 4 at the Vasant Kunj North Police Station.
According to police, the accused was a sanchalak (member of the management committee) at the institute.
During the enquiry, the statements of 32 female PGDM (Post Graduate Diploma in Management) students under the EWS scholarship at Sri Sharada Institute of Indian Management were recorded. Of these, 17 alleged that Saraswati used abusive language, sent obscene messages, and made unwanted physical advances.
Police said some faculty members, including women, also pressured the students to comply with his demands.
A case was registered under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, with 16 victims later deposing before a magistrate.
Investigators also found in the institute's basement a Volvo car with a forged diplomatic number plate -- 39 UN 1 -- allegedly used by Saraswati. Another FIR was lodged on August 25, and the vehicle was seized. Police said the accused has been evading arrest since.
Meanwhile, the Sri Sri Jagadguru Shankaracharya Mahasamsthanam Dakshinamnaya Sri Sharada Peetham, Sringeri, with which Saraswati was earlier associated, has issued a public statement distancing itself from him.
"The public is hereby informed that Swami Chaitanyananda Saraswati, formerly known as Swami (Dr.) Parthasarathy has engaged in activities that are illegal, inappropriate, and detrimental to the interests of Sri Sri Jagadguru Shankaracharya Mahasamsthanam Dakshinamnaya Sri Sharada Peetham, Sringeri (Peetham). As a result, the Peetham has severed all ties with him," the statement said.
It further said that the Peetham has also lodged complaints with the relevant authorities regarding illegal acts committed by Saraswati.
The statement added that the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has approved the running of 'Sri Sharadha Institute of Indian Management-Research' in the name of the Peetham from Plot No. 7, Institutional Area, Phase II, Vasant Kunj, New Delhi.
"The Peetham administers the institution through a Governing Council, chaired by Dr Krishna Venkatesh, a respected educationist, along with other distinguished individuals. The Governing Council is actively taking steps to ensure the welfare of students and to prevent any disruption to the ongoing educational programmes," it said.
Police said efforts are underway to trace Saraswati, and multiple teams have been formed. Sources also said that teams are keeping a strict vigil at airports to prevent him from fleeing the country.
"Teams have been conducting raids at his known hideouts in Delhi and neighbouring states," said the officer.
Investigators added that statements from students, faculty members, and staff are being cross-verified, while digital evidence, including messages and call records, has been collected as part of the probe.
"The allegations are serious, involving multiple victims, and we are pursuing the case with priority," he said, adding that the accused, however, remains at large.

&ldquo;The arrests were made under &lsquo;Operation Bullet&rsquo;, a targeted initiative by the Delhi Police to curb the increasing theft of premium motorcycles, especially Royal Enfields, from the area,&rdquo; Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outernorth) Nidhin Valsan said in his official statement.
According to police, a team was formed to work on recent theft patterns and acting on a specific tip-off, the police team laid a trap near Bhalswa Lake in the Mukundpur area on May 20.
At around 6 pm, two men arrived on a Royal Enfield Bullet motorcycle, and on verification, the bike was found to be stolen and linked to a case registered at Swaroop Nagar Police Station on May 12, police said in its official statement.
&ldquo;On sustained interrogation, both accused confessed to multiple motorcycle thefts and revealed the locations of other stolen vehicles,&rdquo; the DCP said, adding that subsequent raids in parts of Delhi and Uttar Pradesh led to the recovery of nine more motorcycles from their hideouts.
The officer added that the accused typically broke handle locks and used direct wiring techniques to start the motorcycles. In one instance, they stole a vehicle from a house and attempted a break-in, though the burglary was unsuccessful, he added.

The accused were identified as Neeraj Verma (33) and Ravi Verma (30), both residents of Faridabad in Haryana.
&ldquo;The complainant, a retired BSF inspector residing in Pushp Vihar, filed an online complaint alleging he had been cheated of Rs 24,54,216 by unidentified persons in the name of block trades, IPOs, and share market profits,&rdquo; Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Ankit Chauhan said.
A case was registered on August 9, 2024, and an investigation was launched, he said.
During the probe, it was found that the accused contacted the complainant using Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) calls.
An analysis of the money trail revealed that the accused transferred the amount received from the victim to an account registered under the name 'Naitik Traders', linked to Ravi, the officer said, adding that he was apprehended from Ballabhgarh following technical surveillance.
Based on his disclosures made during interrogation, his associate Neeraj was also arrested.
Two mobile phones, a cheque book, and three bank kits that were used in the crime were recovered from their possession.
Neeraj, who studied up to Class 10, told the police that he came across an advertisement on social media promoting income through the use of corporate accounts for gaming-related transactions, the DCP said.
He then contacted Ravi and received instructions from a handler in Mumbai, following which he obtained GST and Udyam registrations and opened several bank accounts under a fake business.
Neeraj provided Rs 1 lakh to open these accounts and shared the details with the handler, who used them to conduct cyber frauds.
Neeraj allegedly earned a 2 per cent commission on transactions, which he split with Ravi.
The transactions primarily involved the buying and selling of USDT cryptocurrency on a platform, the police said.
Further investigation is underway to identify other associates and trace the handler.

The main accused has been identified as Suraj who manipulated an identity card to enter the residence in Kohat Enclave in north Delhi as a domestic helper and disappeared after a house burglary on April 26, he said.
Suraj was tracked through his girlfriend in Kanpur and was arrested after a bearly 1.5-km chase through agricultural fields in Kanpur Dehat, the police said.
The other accused have been identified as Karan, who waited outside on a scooty to assist in the getaway, Suraj&rsquo;s cousin Saurav, who helped forge the Aadhaar card using online tools, and Pramod Kumar Soni and Pawan Sahoo, who purchased the stolen jewellery. Soni has a prior criminal history related to a temple theft case registered in Ayodhya.
&ldquo;The gang&rsquo;s modus operandi involved using digitally manipulated Aadhaar cards to secure jobs as domestic helpers, selecting homes with minimal security and coordinating escape plans with accomplices waiting outside,&rdquo; Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northwest) Bhisham Singh said.
The accused also used stolen phones and SIM cards to avoid digital traceability and switched them off immediately after the crime, he added.
The police said the victim, Gaurav Dhingra, returned from dinner with his family to find his house ransacked and jewellery boxes emptied. The domestic help, Sonu, was untraceable and his phone was found switched off.
A case was registered and an investigation was launched. Despite scanning over 100 CCTV feeds, no escape route was evident.
However, technical analysis of CDR and IPDR data linked the accused to a stolen keypad phone previously reported missing at Mohan Garden Police Station, the DCP said.
Investigators discovered that Suraj had forged an Aadhaar card to get hired. A raid in Patna revealed that the Aadhaar number was real, but the photo had been digitally altered. Suraj was apprehended from Uttar Pradesh&rsquo;s Kanpur.
Subsequently, Karan, Saurav, Pramod and Pawan were also arrested and the police recovered multiple gold and diamond rings, pendants, earrings, bangles, and a bracelet.
They also recovered approximately 16.9 grams of melted gold and three mobile phones.
Suraj admitted to keeping three jewellery items for his girlfriend and these were also recovered.
The police said the gang surveyed homes before choosing targets, specifically selecting jobs that allowed full access to the premises. They used digitally secure methods to avoid leaving a trace.
Suraj was previously allegedly involved in a 2024 armed robbery case at Moti Nagar.
Further investigation is underway to identify more accomplices and recover additional stolen property.

The main accused, identified as Rashid Choudhury, a native of Hyderabad, allegedly ran a cyber scam by using the name "National Rural Development and Recreation Mission (NRDRM)" to falsely present it as a government body under the Ministry of Rural Development, police said.
"The matter came to light following a complaint from the Ministry of Rural Development on March 22, reporting fake recruitment advertisements on two different fake websites featuring images of Union ministers and top officials to mislead job seekers.
"The scam involved collecting registration fees ranging from Rs 299 to Rs 399 from applicants," Deputy Commissioner of Police (New Delhi) Devesh Kumar Mahla said at a press briefing.
He said that an FIR was registered and further investigation was taken up.
During the investigation, a QR code embedded in the fraudulent websites was traced to a bank account in Assam. The money was routed through multiple mule accounts and withdrawn from ATMs.
Over a hundred CCTV footages were analysed to track the cash withdrawals, eventually leading the police to the Laxmi Nagar area in east Delhi, where surveillance confirmed the presence of suspects, said the DCP.
A raid was conducted on May 18, resulting in the arrest of Ikbal Hussain (27) of Assam, who confessed to withdrawing money for the gang. Based on his disclosure, the police later arrested Rashid Choudhury from a separate flat in the same locality.
"Choudhury is a habitual cybercriminal and the mastermind behind the racket. He operated a network involving web developers, account handlers and SIM procurers," said the DCP.
The police seized 11 mobile phones, 15 SIM cards, 21 cheque books, 15 debit cards, a POS machine, four fake stamps, and five Wi-Fi dongles, besides identifying six fake websites used in the commission of the crime.
The seized devices and bank records are being analysed in coordination with the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C). Further investigation is underway to trace more victims and co-accused linked to the pan-India scam.

The accused, identified as Raja (27) and Sonu (34), operated from the Old Delhi Railway Station, where they would pick up lone passengers in autorickshaws, often with one or two accomplices posing as commuters.
"Once the auto reached a relatively isolated stretch, the assailants would suddenly overpower the passenger by grabbing and choking him until he lost consciousness. The victim would then be looted of all belongings and dumped on the roadside," Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Raja Banthia said.
The case that led to their arrest was registered on May 10, when Ranjit Kumar, a resident of Lal Bagh in Azadpur, reported that he had been assaulted and robbed in a similar manner around 4:45 am while travelling from Old Delhi Railway Station to Azadpur.
According to the FIR, the men sitting in the back of the auto attacked him, choked him unconscious and fled with his mobile phone, wallet, documents, and travel bag after throwing him out of the moving vehicle.
Based on Kumar's complaint, an e-FIR was registered and an investigation was launched.
"The breakthrough came after examining footage from over 100 CCTV cameras along the suspected route. Police identified the culprits as Raja, a repeat offender from Welcome Colony and Sonu, a known criminal from Loni in Ghaziabad. Both had multiple prior cases against them, including robbery and snatching," said the DCP.
On May 14, Raja and Sonu were apprehended from Loni after raids.
Raja, who committed the crimes in an auto given to him by his sister, had another accomplice named Deepak, alias Totla, and targeted railway passengers regularly.
The police also recovered the auto used in the crime and a mobile phone linked to another robbery near Geeta Colony Flyover. That incident was reported at the Kotwali Police Station on May 15, linking the suspects to yet another robbery.
"The accused have a long criminal history. Raja has 14 previous cases and Sonu has 11, registered across multiple police stations in Delhi. Teams are hunting for the third accused, Deepak," the DCP said, adding that further investigation is underway.

The Delhi Police will soon deploy a 'reverse image search' software that can match suspect sketches with its database of criminal photographs, significantly reducing the time and effort required in identifying accused persons, an official said on Monday.
The image reconstruction software, being developed by the Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology, will assist law enforcement agencies in quickly matching facial sketches prepared from eyewitness accounts with digital images in police records, he said.
"Earlier, such comparisons had to be made manually, which was time-consuming and lacked accuracy. This new software automates the process and increases the precision of suspect identification," a police source said.
The system uses machine learning to process a sketch, filter through visual data and shortlist matching images from a central database. It allows investigators to upload suspect sketches and receive close matches in real time.
According to police officials, the software is particularly useful in cases such as murder, robbery and sexual assault, where the only clue may be a sketch based on a victim's or witness's memory.
It will also be helpful in cases where no direct image or CCTV footage of the suspect is available, they said.
"This tool...could be a game changer in solving cases where leads are limited," the officer highlighted.
Police officials said these advanced tools are already proving useful in cracking complex cyber and physical crimes. Delhi Police is already using a host of forensic and data recovery technologies, including the software for retrieving data from corrupted storage devices and mobile phones.

In his post on X, Kejriwal said, "In response to a complaint about the growing hooliganism, the Election Commission has filed a police case against the Chief Minister of Delhi. So now, the official stance of the Delhi Police and the Election Commission is - The 'work' of the Delhi Police and the Election Commission is to engage in hooliganism against the Aam Aadmi Party, provide protection to the BJP's hooliganism, and distribute liquor, money, and goods."&nbsp;
He further stated, "If anyone tries to stop them from doing this 'work,' a case will be filed against that person for obstructing the 'work' of the police and the Election Commission."
Atishi, in her response to the case, pointed out the lack of action against BJP candidate Ramesh Bidhuri, whose family members were reportedly involved in violations of the MCC.&nbsp;
She raised concerns about the ECI's actions, asking how far they would go in undermining the electoral process.&nbsp;

"The Election Commission is also amazing! Ramesh Bidhuri ji's family members are openly violating the code of conduct. No action is being taken against them. The DCP South East Delhi, in a post on X, reported that Atishi was found violating the MCC on February 4 at 12:30 AM along with 50-70 people and 10 vehicles at Fateh Singh Marg.&nbsp;
The police instructed them to vacate the area, and a case was filed following a complaint by the Flying Squad Team (FST), under sections of the Representation of the People Act.
In another update, the DCP South East Delhi mentioned that AAP members Ashmit and Sagar Mehta had obstructed and assaulted a Head Constable who was documenting the gathering at Baba Fateh Singh Marg, Govindpuri.&nbsp;
The police officer, HC Kaushal Pal, was responding to the situation and began recording video when the altercation occurred. The DCP confirmed that an FIR has been registered under sections related to obstruction of public duty and assault while on duty, with further investigations ongoing.

The Aam Aadmi Party has accused the BJP-led Centre and Delhi Police of conspiring to harm Arvind Kejriwal ahead of the Delhi polls. Atishi and Bhagwant Mann, have demanded the restoration of Kejriwal&rsquo;s security cover withdrawn by Punjab police.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Friday accused the BJP-led Centre and the Delhi Police of conspiring to "kill" its supremo Arvind Kejriwal and urged the Election Commission to restore his security cover provided by the Punjab Police that was withdrawn.
There was no immediate reaction from the BJP or the Delhi Police to the allegation.
Addressing a press conference here, Delhi Chief Minister Atishi and her Punjab counterpart, Bhagwant Mann, said they have written to the EC demanding "fair grounds" to the AAP in the February 5 Delhi Assembly polls and the restoration of Kejriwal's security cover given by the Punjab Police, along with an audit of "life-threatening" attacks on him.
They alleged that the Delhi Police, which comes under the Centre, has turned a blind eye on the alleged attacks on Kejriwal in accordance with Union Home Minister Amit Shah's order.
"There are two players involved in this conspiracy to kill Kejriwalji -- the BJP and the Delhi Police. They are both conspiring to end Kejriwal's life. Attacks have been attempted on him one after the other. In October (last year), an attack was made on Kejriwal. Upon investigation by us, it was found that the attackers were BJP workers, but police took no action," Atishi alleged.
"We have written to the EC demanding that Kejriwal's security be restored. We do not trust the Delhi Police as it is under Amit Shah's control," she added.
The AAP leaders alleged that resorting to "dirty politics" ahead of the Delhi polls, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has conspired to get Kejriwal's security removed.

Singh also raised concerns about the Election Commission's lack of action, saying, "All this is happening under the nose of the Election Commission. We asked for time from the Election Commission. It has been 3 days but we have not been given time yet. If someone complains, no action is being taken on it. Initially, action was taken on a few complaints. But now, there is nothing... How are these elections fair?"
Earlier in the day, Delhi Chief Minister and AAP leader Atishi wrote to the Election Officer of Delhi, alleging that the Delhi Police was trying to dismiss a complaint against BJP workers who reportedly intimidated AAP volunteers on January 21 and 22.
In her letter, Atishi demanded the transfer of police officials involved, accusing them of pressuring AAP workers into signing false statements claiming no violence or intimidation occurred. "I made a complaint regarding the intimidation of AAP volunteers by BJP workers yesterday (21.01.2025) and today (22.01.2025). Both complaints are enclosed. On 21.01.2025, I received a notice u/s 94 BNSS from SHO Govindpuri regarding the complaint made on 21.01.2025 (enclosed)," Atishi wrote.
She further claimed that police officers, including SHO Dharamveer, Inspector Sushil Sharma, and Constable Jai Bhagwan, were contacting AAP volunteers under the guise of recording their statements. "The Investigating Officer -- Sh Jai Bhagwan and Sh. Sushil Sharma met Vijeta, Rekha Bassi, and Deepa Deol -- who are volunteers of the Aam Aadmi Party and dictated statements to them where it was stated that no violence or intimidation took place. They then pressurized the aforementioned persons to sign those statements," the letter stated. Atishi also alleged that when volunteers objected to signing false statements, the police tore the documents. She has called for the transfer of the officers involved, citing possible collusion with the BJP.

In her letter, Atishi explained that she had filed complaints regarding the intimidation on January 21 and 22. She attached both complaints to her letter, highlighting that on January 21, she received a notice under Section 94 BNSS from the SHO of Govindpuri concerning her complaint.&nbsp;

However, instead of investigating, she claims that police officers began pressuring AAP volunteers to retract their statements.
&ldquo;Atishi&rsquo;s letter further detailed the actions of the police officers, including SHO Dharamveer, Inspector Sushil Sharma, and Constable Jai Bhagwan, who reportedly tried to coerce volunteers into signing false statements that claimed no intimidation or violence had occurred. These officers allegedly met with volunteers such as Vijeta, Rekha Bassi, and Deepa Deol, dictated false statements to them, and then pressured them to sign," the letter said.
The Chief Minister also highlighted that her volunteers were willing to give statements in the presence of their legal representatives, but they were being forced to sign incomplete and false documents.&nbsp;
When the volunteers refused, the police allegedly tore up their objections. Atishi expressed concerns over the collusion of the local police officers and called for their immediate transfer, specifically requesting that SHO Dharamveer, Inspector Sushil Sharma, and Constable Jai Bhagwan be reassigned out of the area.
Earlier this week, Atishi had also called for the deployment of paramilitary forces in Kalkaji to ensure the safety of voters and party workers as the Delhi Assembly elections draw near. The elections are set for February 5, with the vote counting scheduled for February 8, amid escalating tensions between the AAP and BJP.

According to the advisory, traffic restrictions would be put in place for Kartavyapath- Rafi Marg crossing, Kartavyapath- Janpath crossing, Kartavypath- Mansingh Road crossing, and Kartavyapath- C- Hexagon from 10.15 am to 12.30 pm.

Delhi Police have apprehended a private school student responsible for sending bomb threats to over 400 schools.

Delhi Police, on Tuesday, revealed that a private school student, arrested for sending bomb threats to various educational institutions, had emailed over 400 schools with the threats. Special CP Law and Order, Madhup Tiwari, shared that the student's family had connections to an NGO, which had ties to a particular political party and had previously been involved in legitimizing Afzal Guru. The student, a Class 12 pupil, had been sending hoax bomb threat emails to schools since last year, aiming to avoid taking his exams. The police launched an extensive investigation after receiving multiple bomb threats that began in February of the previous year. Tiwari explained that the emails were sent in a highly sophisticated manner, often using VPNs, making it difficult to trace the sender. &ldquo;The emails were sent in a very sophisticated manner, including the use of VPNs. Hence, we had difficulties in tracing the emails,&rdquo; he said.
The breakthrough came on January 8, when the police identified the juvenile as the primary suspect. Upon his arrest, it was revealed that he had sent bomb threat emails to more than 400 schools. &ldquo;We suspected an anti-national or sabotage angle. When we did the profiling of the family of the juvenile as part of the investigation, we found that one of his parents is connected to an organisation with deep connections to an NGO. As per our preliminary info, it was found that the NGO has deep connections to a particular political party,&rdquo; Tiwari said.
Additionally, the suspect was linked to more than 250 bomb threat emails sent to schools on May 1 of the previous year, among other incidents. &ldquo;This is a preliminary investigation. Further investigation is yet to be done,&rdquo; Tiwari confirmed.
The student had also sent bomb threat emails to 23 schools last Thursday, which the police were able to trace through Gmail. Upon further questioning, the student admitted to sending the emails with the help of other students using VPNs.
This development came amid mounting criticism of Delhi Police&rsquo;s handling of the bomb threats, which had disrupted school activities in the city. Chief Minister Atishi, former CM Arvind Kejriwal, and former Deputy CM Manish Sisodia expressed strong disapproval of both the Delhi Police and the central government for their failure to curb the ongoing bomb threats.
In December, bomb threat emails were sent to at least 40 Delhi schools, including DPS RK Puram and GD Goenka School in Paschim Vihar, demanding a ransom of $30,000. Similar threats were also sent to more than 30 schools on December 13 and 14.

The sources said the south district police apprehended the Class 12 student, a minor, Thursday evening in connection with the threats.
Earlier in the day, officials said police will address a press conference at its headquarters to share more details but it was later cancelled.
The sources said the accused had sent bomb threats to 23 different schools as he did not want to take school examinations. He used this method to trigger panic.
"The student got the idea from previous incidents and hatched a plan to change his IP address by using Virtual Private Network (VPN) and send threat e-mails to different schools. Further investigation is underway," said a source.
