The Directorate of Education on Monday asked schools in Delhi to prevent the enrolment of &ldquo;illegal Bangladeshi migrants&rdquo; by ensuring a strict document verification process during admission.
&ldquo;Schools must ensure strict admission procedures, verification of students&rsquo; documentation to prevent illegal Bangladeshi migrants&rsquo; enrolment&hellip; implementation of greater scrutiny to detect and prevent unauthorised admissions of illegal Bangladeshi migrants, in particular,&rdquo; according to the circular.
It directed the heads of all government, government-aided and unaided recognised private schools to refer to the local police and the revenue authority in any case where they have doubts.
The Directorate of Education further instructed the school heads to ensure that a careful process is followed to verify and handle all necessary documentation when enrolling the children of migrants.
The District Directorate of Education (districts/zones) was directed to submit weekly reports of all such cases to the school branch headquarters and the Directorate of Education.
Delhi Chief Minister Atishi said BJP members are bringing &ldquo;Rohingyas to Delhi by crossing the border from Bangladesh, providing them with EWS flats and facilities that rightfully belong to the people of Delhi&rdquo;.

Sub-inspector Gopal Singh of Delhi Police was convicted for demanding a bribe of Rs 2 lakh from the complainant Anita for removing her and her husband's name from a complaint against them related to a quarrel which he was investigating.
The court said all witnesses have said the complainant herself gave the officer Rs 80,000 on January 2, 2019, after the amount was decided during a conversation on December 31, 2018.
The court said that the quote 'with great power comes great responsibility' from the movie Spiderman has became an "arduous code of conduct" for public servants, especially police.
The court said power cannot be enjoyed simply for its privileges alone, it makes the holder morally responsible for what they do or don't do with it.&nbsp;

Raj Kumar Sharma, a resident of Rohini, was raising slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and in support of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, sources said.
He was immediately taken to a nearby hospital and his condition is stated to be stable as of now, a senior police officer said.
Before being taken to the hospital, he was heard shouting "Desh ko bacha lo (save the country)".
The reason behind him trying to end his life is yet to be ascertained, the officer said, adding that an inquiry has been initiated into the matter.

Delhi records 509 fresh Covid-19 cases, positivity rate crosses 25% mark

Delhi's COVID-19 positivity rate breached the 25 per cent mark on Wednesday as the city recorded 509 fresh cases in a single day.

Delhi's COVID-19 positivity rate breached the 25 per cent mark on Wednesday as the city recorded 509 fresh cases in a single day.
The positivity rate stood at 26.54 per cent, while no new fatalities were logged.
Delhi had recorded 521 cases on Tuesday, the highest single-day rise since August 27 last year, and one fatality, according to data shared by the city health department.
The positivity rate stood at 15.64 per cent.
The city had recorded 573 positive cases on August 27 last year with a positivity rate of 3.62 per cent along with five deaths.
The city&rsquo;s COVID-19 death toll remains at 26,533.
With the fresh cases, the city's infection tally has increased to 20,12,064. The data showed that 1,918 Covid tests were conducted on Tuesday.
Delhi has witnessed an increase in the number of fresh Covid cases over the last few days amid a sharp rise in the figure of H3N2 influenza cases in the country.
The Delhi government is keeping an eye on the spurt in Covid cases in the national capital and is "prepared to face any eventuality", Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had said on Friday.
Addressing reporters after chairing a review meeting on the Covid situation, Kejriwal had said there was no need to worry for now and that the city government was taking all required steps.
