The investigative agency claimed Kejriwal's petition, which also challenges certain provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, was not maintainable.

The Delhi High Court on Wednesday sought the stance of the Enforcement Directorate on a petition by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal challenging the summons issued to him in an excise policy-linked money laundering case.
The investigating agency claimed the petition of the AAP national convenor, which also challenges certain provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, was not maintainable.
A bench headed by Justice Suresh Kumar Kait granted two weeks' time to the ED to file its reply on this aspect.
Kejriwal has moved the court in the wake of the latest summons, the ninth issued by the ED asking him to appear before it on March 21 for questioning under the provisions of PMLA.
Senior advocate AM Singhvi, appearing for Kejriwal, said the petition raises several issues, including whether a political party is covered by the anti-money laundering law.
The court also asked the AAP leader why he was not appearing pursuant to the summons to him.
The senior lawyer for the petitioner said protection from coercive action is required in the matter because of the agency's "clear intent" to apprehend him when elections are around the corner.
Kejriwal has repeatedly refused to appear in response to these summonses, calling them illegal.
The case pertains to alleged corruption in formulating and executing the city government's excise policy for 2021-22, which was later scrapped.
Following a recommendation by Lt Governor V K Saxena, the CBI registered an FIR over alleged corruption which subsequently resulted in the money laundering probe.
The agencies have claimed that irregularities were committed while modifying the excise policy and undue favours were extended to licence holders.
AAP leaders Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh are in judicial custody in the case.
Kejriwal's name has been mentioned multiple times in the charge sheets filed by the ED in the excise policy case. The agency has alleged that the accused were in touch with Kejriwal for formulating the excise policy that resulted in undue benefits for them in return for which they paid kickbacks to the Aam Aadmi Party.
A Delhi court had on Saturday granted bail to Kejriwal on two complaints filed by the ED against him for skipping six of the previous eight summonses in the money laundering case.
The matter would be heard next on April 22.&nbsp;

Multiple reports said that the searches were linked to the ED probe in the liquor excise case.&nbsp;&nbsp;

In its probe into the Delhi Liquor excise case, Enforcement Directorate officials conducted searches at the residence of Aam Admi Party leader Sanjay Singh in Delhi. New wire ANI released footage of ED officials and security personnel at the residence of the Rajya Sabha MP. The searches began at around 7 a.m. Singh&rsquo;s name was mentioned in the ED&rsquo;s prosecution complaint filed in December 2022. The raids at Singh's residence are happening on the day the Supreme Court is expected to hear the bail plea of AAP leader Manish Sisodia in a matter connected with the excise policy case.

The Delhi High Court on Tuesday dismissed the bail plea of former deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia in the excise policy scam being probed by the CBI.
Justice Dinesh Kumar Sharma denied the relief to the AAP leader, who was arrested on February 26, saying the allegations against him are very serious in nature.
The high court, while pronouncing its verdict on the bail plea, said Sisodia is an influential man and the possibility that witnesses could be influenced if he is released on bail cannot be ruled out.
The CBI had arrested Sisodia for alleged corruption in the formulation and implementation of the now-scrapped Delhi Excise Policy 2021-22 following several rounds of questioning.
He has challenged the March 31 order of a trial court which had dismissed Sisodia's bail plea in the matter, saying he was "prima facie the architect" of the "scam" and had played the "most important and vital role" in the criminal conspiracy related to alleged payment of advance kickbacks of Rs 90-100 crore meant for him and his colleagues in the Delhi government.
He is also in custody in a related money laundering case.

Delhi liquor policy case: Kavitha says will seek legal opinion

The Enforcement Directorate has summoned Kavitha in connection with a money laundering case linked to alleged irregularities in the Delhi excise policy.

BRS MLC in Telangana K Kavitha, who has been summoned by the ED, on Wednesday said she would fully cooperate with the investigation agency but would seek legal opinion on the date of deposition in view of her proposed dharna in support of the women's reservation bill in Delhi on March 10.
Kavitha said "these tactics of intimidation" against the fight of her father and Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and the BRS would not deter them.
In a statement here, she claimed that she has been summoned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to depose on March 9 "in light of" her proposed hunger strike at Jantar Mantar in Delhi in support of the women's reservation bill on March 10.
"As a law-abiding citizen, I will fully cooperate with the investigation agencies. However, due to the dharna and prefixed appointments, I'll seek legal opinions on the date of attending it," she said.
"I would also like the ruling party at the Centre to know that these tactics of intimidation against the fight and voice of our leader, CM Shri KCR, and against the entire BRS Party will not deter us," Kavitha said.
Under the leadership of Chief Minister KCR, the BRS will continue to fight to expose the BJP's failures and raise its voice for a brighter and better future for India, she said.
Telangana would "never bow before" the anti-people regime in Delhi, she claimed.
"Let me also remind the power mongers in Delhi that Telangana has never and will never bow before the oppressive anti-people regime. We will fearlessly and fiercely fight for the rights of the people," she said.
The Enforcement Directorate has summoned Kavitha in connection with a money laundering case linked to alleged irregularities in the Delhi excise policy.
Kavitha, 44, has been asked to depose on March 9 before the federal agency in the national capital.&nbsp;
