Bollywood stars Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol huddled under an umbrella on a rainy Thursday in London to unveil their bronze likeness from an iconic &lsquo;Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge&rsquo; scene.
The sculpture of the duo joins Leicester Square&rsquo;s &lsquo;Scenes in the Square&rsquo; trail depicting memorable shots from some of the world&rsquo;s most famous films, with &lsquo;DDLJ&rsquo; marking a Bollywood first and the 30th anniversary of the 1995 box-office hit. It is in this popular London square that SRK as Raj and Kajol as Simran first cross paths unknowingly.
&ldquo;DDLJ was made with a pure heart. We wanted to tell a story about love, how it can bridge barriers and how the world would be a better place if it had a lot of love in it, and I think this is why 'DDLJ' has had a lasting impact for over 30 years now," said Khan.

He expressed his gratitude to the Heart of London Business Alliance, behind the cinematic trail at Leicester Square, for celebrating &lsquo;DDLJ&rsquo; and &ldquo;immortalising&rdquo; its lead stars.
&ldquo;Seeing &lsquo;DDLJ&rsquo; become the first Indian film to be honoured in the iconic Scenes in the Square trail is an emotional moment and has brought back so many memories. I feel immense pride knowing the film has been embraced around the world, and I want to share this moment with the entire cast and crew of &lsquo;DDLJ&rsquo;, my friend and director Aditya Chopra and the Yash Raj Films family. This is a moment I will never forget,&rdquo; added Khan.
Kajol, joined by her daughter Nysa and son Yug, posed with Khan in front of the statue as she braved the rain in a green saree.
&ldquo;It&rsquo;s incredible to see &lsquo;Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge&rsquo; continue to receive so much love, even 30 years later. Watching the statue being unveiled in London felt like reliving a piece of our history - a story that has truly travelled across generations,&rdquo; said Kajol.
&ldquo;Seeing it find its rightful place in Leicester Square, a location of such enormous significance to &lsquo;DDLJ&rsquo;, makes this moment even more special. For the film to be honoured in this way in the UK &ndash; the first Indian film to receive such recognition &ndash; is something that will forever stay in the hearts and minds of all the &lsquo;DDLJ&rsquo; fans across the world,&rdquo; she said.
Their statue, captured in a dancing pose from the hit song &lsquo;Mehndi Laga Ke Rakhna&rsquo;, joins the likes of Harry Potter, Bridget Jones, Mary Poppins, and Batman in what is dubbed as an ever-growing celebration of movie magic in a square packed with multiplex cinema screens.
&ldquo;When &lsquo;Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge&rsquo;, DDLJ, was released 30 years ago, the film became a defining moment for Indian cinema and changed the face of the industry, capturing the hearts of everyone who saw it all over the globe," said Akshaye Widhani, CEO of Yash Raj Films.

Since its release in 1995, &lsquo;DDLJ&rsquo; has become the longest-running film in Hindi cinema history.

It is a particularly special year for the film, with a musical based on the romance playing to packed houses at Manchester&rsquo;s Opera House earlier this year.
Aditya Chopra reprised his role as director of the English language stage production, &lsquo;Come Fall In Love &ndash; The DDLJ Musical&rsquo;, which revolved around the love story of Simran and Roger.
The script was a nod to the original as it followed Simran as a young British Indian woman who finds herself engaged to a family friend in India in an arranged marriage. However, the plot thickens when she falls in love with a British man named Roger.

One of the most iconic films of Bollywood, 'Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge', is going to re-release in theatres to celebrate Valentine's week. Yash Raj Films, the production house behind 'DDLJ' announced that the film will be re-released in national cinema chains across the country for a week begining February 10.&nbsp;
Taking to Twitter, YRF wrote 'Come fall in love with #DDLJ all over again, in cinemas tomorrow onwards for 1 week!'
The film stars Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol in the lead role along with Amrish Puri, Farida Jalal, Anupam Kher. The film was a huge critical and commercial success.

Superstar Shah Rukh Khan attended the Auto Expo 2023 in Greater Noida on Wednesday and delighted his fans as he sang his &lsquo;Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge&rsquo; (DDLJ) song &lsquo;Tujhe Dekha Toh&rsquo;. Several pictures and videos of the actor from the event have surfaced online. Besides singing, King Khan is also seen giving his iconic romantic pose - extending his hands while leaning to one side.
The actor greeted several people with hugs and posed for photos.
Shah Rukh, who is the brand ambassador of a car brand Hyundai India, joked with the company's team, &lsquo;I would request the wonderful set of people to make it a company policy ki jabbhi main Delhi aayu, nayi gaadi launch karne k liye, toh yeh gaadi main free mein ghar le kar jau (whenever I come to Delhi to launch a new car, I should be able to take it home for free). For the rest of you (laughs), I wish you a great morning, and a Happy New Year. I wish you all the goodness in the world, a very healthy life.&rsquo;
On the work front, the trailer of Shah Rukh Khan&rsquo;s forthcoming film &lsquo;Pathaan&rsquo; was unveiled on January 10. Helmed by Siddharth Anand, the film also stars Deepika Padukone, John Abraham, Dimple Kapadia, and Ashutosh Rana in the lead roles. The film is all set to hit the theatres on January 25.

Filmmaker Guneet Monga is all set to tie the knot with fashion entrepreneur Sunny Kapoor on December 12 in Mumbai. Ahead of D-day, she took to social media and penned a heartfelt post chronicling her love story and its connection with 1995 blockbuster &lsquo;Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge&rsquo;, starring Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol.
Guneet Monga revealed how she had been looking for her Raj after watching DDLJ and is now finally getting married at 39.
She said that everyone would always tell her, at the right time the right person will come into her life, and this irritated her the most! She would question herself why her time has not come yet and even cursed her body, intelligence, way of talking, education, and job for the same.
Her note read, &lsquo;DDLJ ruined me&hellip; Like every girl growing up in the 90s, I too have been on a constant lookout for my Raj ever since I was 18. Anyone I dated, I ran to my friends to tell them this is it, I found my partner for the rest of my life. Some even indulged me a couple of times but mostly rolled their eyes and wanted to say, &ldquo;Guneet please just take your time&rdquo;. I never wanted to take my time, my magical forever started from Day 1. I was ready to commit from Day 1!&rsquo;
She continued, &lsquo;Everyone would always tell me, at the right time the right person will come into my life, and this irritated me the most! Why on earth has my time not come? Ab toh chaalis saal hogaye (its 40 years already), actually 39 but a round figure sounds better na. And every time an extended family member would ask me, &ldquo;Beta shaadi nahi ki (you are yet not married)&rdquo;, I would reply, &ldquo;Koi dhoond do, kal karloongi (get one for me, I will get married tomorrow)&rdquo;, and they would have no answer. Just &ldquo;Beta hum kahan se dhoondhein&hellip; tum toh film industry mein ho na (how can we find a match for you, you are from the film industry)&rdquo;. Now that is also my fault.&rsquo;
&lsquo;Honestly, I have cursed my body, my intelligence, my way of talking, my education, my middle-class life and even my job designation to be able to find someone! Wait, did I tell you, I have also tried missing the last Euro train but wahan pe door automatic shut hotey hain and no one keeps their hand out to pull you in! Haath kat jayenge behenon!,&rsquo; she added.
Concluding her note, Guneet Monga said, &lsquo;My dear girlfriends, can I tell you, when the time is right and when that person comes into your life, you just know it. When he shows you how much YOU mean to him. That kind of love is everything.&rsquo;

It gave me my identity and kickstarted an amazing journey for which I&rsquo;ll always be grateful."

Aditya Chopra has been working on the passion project for the past three years and has roped in a stellar, extremely diverse team, comprising some of the best talents of Broadway and India for the same. 
The musical will feature book and lyrics by Laurence Oliver Award-winner Nell Benjamin (Legally Blonde, Mean Girls), Vishal Dadlani and Shekhar Ravjiani will serve as composers. Tony and Emmy winner Rob Ashford (Frozen, Thoroughly Modern Millie, The Boys from Syracuse) will choreograph with associate choreographer Shruti Merchant. The design team will also include set design by Emmy and Tony Award winner Derek McLane (Moulin Rouge!, Hairspray Live!, 33 Variations) and music supervision by Tony, Grammy, and Emmy Award-winning Bill Sherman (In The Heights, Sesame Street, Hamilton). Adam Zotovich is the Executive Producer for the project. 
A global casting search begins shortly headed by Duncan Stewart of Stewart/Whitley casting and Yash Raj Films casting head Shanoo Sharma.

Reports are the statue will be from one the of films scene that was shot in the Square.&nbsp;Reportedly&nbsp;SRK, Kajol's&nbsp;statue will be the&nbsp;first-ever Bollywood statue erected in the UK. The statue is set to&nbsp;be unveiled in Spring 2021.
