India was on Thursday drawn to meet Sweden in an away Davis Cup World Group I tie in September.
The Indian Davis Cup team had blanked Pakistan 4-0 in the World Group I play-offs in Islamabad last week while Sweden lost 1-3 to Brazil at home in the Qualifiers first round.
India has never defeated Sweden in five meetings so far but will have a great opportunity to get their first win as the hosts do not boast of intimidating singles players.
The last time India competed against Sweden was in 2005 when India hosted them in Delhi and lost 1-3.
Sweden has a very talented Elias Ymer, who is ranked 160, in their ranks. India has higher-ranked Sumit Nagal (121) and if he is available, it will be an interesting tie.
India captain Rohit Rajpal seemed happy with the draw, considering that they could have been drawn against Novak Djokovic-led Serbia.
"The away ties are tough because the surface choice is with the home team. It will depend on what surface they choose to play on. We could have drawn tougher teams and now we have to make full use of this draw," Rajpal told PTI.
Ymer and his brother Mikael (189) feature in top-200 and are followed by Dragos Nicolae Madaras (256), Karl Frieberg and Leo Borg. They have a top-100 doubles player in Andre Goransson (67).
India has five players in the doubles top-100, led by world number one Rohan Bopanna, who though does not play Davis Cup anymore. He is followed by Yuki Bhambri (60), N Sriram Balaji (78), Vijay Sundar Prashanth (80) and Anirudh Chandrasekar (90)

&nbsp;Indian Davis Cup team capped its historic visit to Pakistan after 60 years by sealing its place in World Group I as it blanked Pakistan 4-0 with Yuki Bhambri and Saketh Myneni recording a comfortable victory and Niki Poonacha making a winning debut, in Islamabad Sunday.
Taking the court with a 2-0 lead in pocket, Bhambri and Myneni subdued the home team of Muzammil Murtaza and Aqeel Khan 6-2 7-6(5) in the doubles rubber to extend India's dominance of Pakistan in the tournament.
Aqeel replaced Barkat Ullah in the side. The idea was to have an experienced player for the do-or-die match, the defeat in which would have clinched India the tie.
However, Bhambri and big-serving Myneni did not put a foot wrong in the match in which they were not troubled by their rivals much. The gulf in quality in the two teams was apparent.
Myneni's big serves were too hot to handle for the home team. Myneni hardly lost a point on his serve and was also superb at the net also.
The Indian players' returns were also better as several times Bhambri sent down winners between the two Pakistani players.
The 28-year-old Poonacha was then asked to play the dead fourth rubber against Muhammad Shoaib, who he beat 6-3 6-4. The fifth match was not played.
Shoaib struggled with his serve but had a terrific backhand. Realising Shoaib's strong point, Niki did not feed many balls to his backhand and comfortably logged the win. Shoaib also struggled to contain unforced errors, giving many free points to the Indian. It was India's eighth win in as many meetings in the event, dubbed as World Cup of tennis and now it will compete in World Group I in September this year while Pakistan will stay in Group II.
The Indian team adapted well to the tough conditions and the heavy security around them, not letting the restrictions on their movement have an adverse impact on them.
The Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) did well in creating a safety net around the players, as several agencies worked in tandem to ensure that the historic tie went without any untoward incidents.
"The organisation was spot on. All the arrangements were good. We thank Pakistan Tennis Federation for being wonderful hosts," India captain Zeeshan Ali said.
Bhambri and Myneni had a tight grip over the contest from the beginning. They broke Aqeel in the first and fifth games for a commanding 4-1 lead. In game one, Aqeel hit a backhand long and wide to be down two breakpoints. While Myneni hit wide on first, he found and easy volley winner on Aqeel's feeble return.
The Pakistani stalwart again dropped serve in game five. his overheas flat smash flew over the baseline at 30-all and Bhambri sent down a crushing forehand winner between the two players to close the game.
Murtaza went down by three set points in game seven but saved all as the two players finally got some rhythm.
Bhambri came out to serve out the set and did with ease as Murtaza could not return a widish serve from the Indian on the first set point.
Aqeel finally began to hold his serve. The second set was 5-5 on serve. In between Murtaza saved three break chances in game five. It boiled down to a tie-breaker in which a few errors from the Indians got the Pakstanis ahead 4-2.
However, Bhambri and Myneni ensured that there was no twist in the tale. They quickly made it 5-5 as Aqeel and Murtaza lacked coordination.

India blunted Pakistan's challenge on the opening day to take a 2-0 lead in the Davis Cup World Group I play-off tie with Ramkumar Ramanathan and N Sriram Balaji rising to the occasion in the high-pressure contest, in Islamabad on Saturday. A fired-up Aisam-ul-haq Qureshi gave his all in a tight opening singles but the intensity of the match and tough conditions took a toll on him as he suffered a hamstring injury in the third set, which prevented a close finish to a hard-fought contest.
Ramkumar served extremely well in the match and also returned better in the second set to prevail 6-7 (3) 7-6 (4), 6-0 while 43-year-old Aisam served 10 double faults in the match.
Ramkumar's strong serving and percentage tennis was key to the outcome of the match.
He served nine games at love, keeping the points short and crisp.
Down by a set, Ramkumar wriggled out of a tough situation when he was down 15-40 in game eight of the second set and never looked back in the match in which he fired 20 aces.
Balaji, a doubles specialist, was challenged by Aqeel Khan, but the Indian defeated the veteran Pakistani player 7-5, 6-3 in the rain-hit second singles.
Balaji had a grip over the match. He broke Aqeel once in both the sets. His movement, strong serve, use of drop shots all came together for a comfortable win in the end. India are now one win away from advancing to the World Group I.

The freezing cold made the conditions challenging for the players. Ramkumar quickly overcame the initial jitters to serve out the opening game at love with an ace. Points were long when Aisam served but when the home favourite hit a backhand service return winner on Ramkumar's serve in the third game, it was clear that the match was on.
Ramkumar, though, served extremely well. He had fired five aces in his first three service games, closing the fifth for a hold with his third ace of the game.
Aisam charged the net often and also used drop shots very effectively. The Pakistani had served three double faults but he came back strongly in following points to stay unhurt. Ramkumar served five games at love in the opening set which was eventually settled in tie-breaker, in which Aisam raced to a 3-0 lead with a break of serve on the first point when Ramkumar hit a forehand wide.
Asiam held his serves on the following points. A forehand lob from Ramkumar that went long gave Aisam his first set-point and he converted that with an ace and let out a roar.
Ramkumar got the kind of start he needed in the second set. He reeled off eight straight points to go a break up as Aisam dropped serve at love.
The Indian, though, squandered the opportunity to further build pressure by dropping his serve in game four.
Aisam produced some stunning backhand shots. The one that stood out was a service return winner while he was down 30-40.
He got breakpoint with a screaming backhand passing winner and Ramkumar buckled under pressure by hitting a forehand wide.
Egged on by his family and home fans, Asiam held the game easily for a 3-2 lead.
In game eight, Ramkumar saved two breakpoints. It was Aisam's service return winner that earned him two breakpoints. Ramkumar saved both with some good serving.
In a repeat of the first set, it all boiled down to tie-breaker and this time it was the Indian who got the break on the first point by hitting a service return winner.
In no time, Ramkumar zoomed to a 4-0 lead and soon had five set points.
Aisam saved the first four but Ramkumar nailed it on the fifth with an ace.
Ramkumar drew the first blood in the third set, breaking Aisam in the second game. He attacked Aisam's service with his forehands.
Aisam was up 40-15, but Ramkumar hit a passing backhand winner and followed that up with another winner to make it deuce.
Ramkumar found a service return winner to earn a break point and Aisam served a double fault to help his rival.
Aisam was now struggling and took a medical time out to treat his groin and hamstring.
Ramkumar just ran away with the match after that, finishing off with an easy backhand drop shot.

India will be without their top singles players but the visitors, who have come to Pakistan after 60 years, will still start as favourites in the historic Davis Cup World Group I play-off tie, which is being played within a restricted environment due to security concerns.
India have never lost to Pakistan in Davis Cup history, winning all seven ties so far, and the trend is likely to continue.
However, the hosts are expected to put up a good fight through their biggest stars, Aisam-ul-haq Qureshi and Aqeel Khan, after choosing to play on grass courts.
If Pakistan stood a chance against India, it had to be on the grass courts because both Aisam and Aqeel are tremendous fighters, and this surface brings the best out of them.
The courts in Islamabad are fast with low bounce, and it made sense that N Sriram Balaji, who is a doubles specialist, has been asked to play singles on the opening day along with the team's best singles player, Ramkumar Ramanathan.
India had an option in the form of Niki Poonacha but he is taller than Balaji, and on low-bounce grass courts, taller players struggle more as they have to go down a lot to pick up balls, and that could disturb the rhythm of a player.
This strategy was successfully used by the iconic Leander Paes to torment the Europeans, who would come to India to compete in Davis Cup.
Also, Balaji has the experience of playing at a good level and that will give him the confidence to handle the pressure of playing against Pakistan on their home soil.
He recently played at the Australian Open and the one-week camp in New Delhi, before arriving in Islamabad, would have also made him sharper and ready for the singles challenge.
"I have shifted to doubles in the last couple of years but that does not mean I am totally away from singles. I am practising singles whenever I can. When I get the opportunity to play Challengers I do play, so I am really excited to play against Pakistan," he said.
Ramkumar is one player in the current generation of Indian players who loves to serve and volley, and playing on grass is his strength too. His career-best result of making the ATP250 final in Newport also came on grass courts.
Ramkumar will open the tie for India with a clash against 43-year-old Aisam, who said he is "younger at heart." "All of you are reminding me of my age but I am young at heart," he joked at the draw ceremony.
"Playing against India motivates me. I had a tough 2023, I had injuries and my ranking also dropped. I am inspired to play this tie.
"Hopefully, the change will begin with this tie, and hopefully, more Indian teams will come to Pakistan, and I am glad it is beginning with tennis," said the country's most accomplished tennis player.
India's non-playing captain Zeeshan Ali felt that it will be a close tie and refused to engage in discussion on why the Indian cricket team or other Indian athletes do not travel to Pakistan for competition.
"We are here to play tennis. Certain decisions are taken by the government and we have no role in that. We have come prepared, and we have a job to do," he said and also acknowledged the warm hospitality the host has offered to the Indian team.
Pakistan have nominated Barkatullah and Muzammil Murtaza to take on Yuki Bhambri and Saketh Myneni in the doubles.
Teams can change nominations on the morning of the match. If It's 1-1 on day one, Aisam and Aqeel may play the doubles as well, as they have done in the past.
Pakistan are playing in home conditions but not many home fans will be there to cheer them as ITF has allowed only 500 guests and fans to watch the action unfold at Islamabad Sports Complex.

A bomb disposal squad will sanitise the Islamabad Sports Complex every morning, and two escort vehicles will shadow the Indian Davis Cup team during its travel as part of a multi-layer security arrangement, which is usually accorded to the Head of State, to ensure the visiting tennis players' safety and security.
The national Indian tennis team has travelled to Pakistan for the first time in 60 years, and naturally, the Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) does not want to compromise on the security aspect.
Mostly, the Indian players will be restricted to the venue and the hotel and it could well prove to be a bit stifling, though safe. The PTF is following the security plan that has been approved by the International Tennis Federation (ITF).
"Since an Indian team has come to Pakistan after 60 years, we are taking extra precautions. There are four to five layers of security around the Indian team. I, as event security manager, is with them during travel," Col Gul Rehman, who is the secretary general of PTF, told PTI.
The Indian contingent, that has five players, two physios and two AITA officials, arrived in Islamabad on Sunday night.
"Escort vans are with the team during travel time, and they enter the hotel from the VVIP entry, which is reserved for Head of State. Bomb disposal squads sanitised the venue in the morning, and no one will be allowed to enter the venue. It will be a drill that will be followed throughout the tie," he said.
"Islamabad is one of the safest cities in Asia. And since general elections are approaching, security is already tight. Then there is air surveillance, there are around 10,000 cameras deployed in the city. There will be no compromise on safety and security of the Indian players," he said.
The teams of Pakistan Sports Board (PSB), Islamabad Police, traffic police, and others are on the job.
"It's an honour not just for the PTF but also for Pakistan to host the Indian team. We believe in sports diplomacy," Rehman said.
Aqeel Khan, one of the finest tennis players from Pakistan, said that his friends in the rival camp should explore the city, if they are comfortable.
"If they can't move out and see the city, visit the restaurants. In would like to take them for dinner. They have asked for foolproof security and that's why the arrangements. It's up to the Indian players now," he said.
While the Indian team is largely relaxed, it was clear that the players would stay alert.
"It is first time here. Yes, there are a few things that play on your mind. We have just heard things about Pakistan, so an image is created. It is too early to say anything about how it is being in Pakistan. Give us two days," said one player.
Keen to play to their strength, Pakistan chose the grass surface but the hosts won't be able to exploit the home conditions to the optimum level since a maximum of only 500 fans will be allowed to watch the action.
The players get a different kind of energy when the home fans cheer for them and egg them on but having only 500 fans for such a tie would not create that environment.
"It's tough. Apparently ITF, unfortunately, does not allow us to host too many guests or supporters for security reasons. This is something we have to apply. We are still pushing to, may be, have some stands on this side of the court as well. In a day or two we will finalise," said Aisam-ul-haq Quershi.&nbsp;

India have been drawn to play Pakistan in the World Group I Play-offs and the Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) on Thursday made it clear that it won't agree to shift their home tie to a neutral venue this time.
India had drawn Pakistan in 2019 also but due to "security concerns" the Asia/Oceania Group I tie was shifted to Kazakhstan, a neutral venue.
As a mark of protest, Pakistan's top players Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi and Aqeel Khan had opted not to play the tie in which rookies Mohammed Shoaib, Huzaifa Abdul Rehman and Yousaf Khalil competed for them.
India had expectedly thrashed a weak Pakistan line-up 4-0. In a lop-sided contest, Pakistan won only seven games in the entire tie.
The ITF had agreed to shift the tie to a neutral venue in 2019 but it will be very tough for AITA to convince the world governing body if the national federation pushes for a neutral venue.
Pakistan's veteran player Aqeel Khan told PTI that they are hoping for the Indian team to travel to their nation.
"I hope they come and give us a chance to host," Aqeel, 43, said.
Qureshi said, "Hopefully this time it will be played in Pakistan." Pakistan last week beat Indonesia 4-0 at home in the World Group II tie, played on grass courts in Islamabad with Aqeel winning a singles and the doubles rubber.
PTF President Salim Saifullah Khan said they will host India on grass court.
"They should come to Pakistan. It's not fair that they do not come to Pakistan. The Indian team is much better than us. We have a beautiful hotel just across the stadium. If Indians come it will send a good message that we are good neighbours," Saifullah Khan told PTI.
If India decide to travel, it will be the Davis Cup team's first visit across the border in 59 years, and only third in the history of the team tournament.
The last time an Indian Davis Cup team travelled to Pakistan was in 1964 when the visitors beat the hosts 4-0.
Ramanathan Krishan had led the first team from India, which travelled to Pakistan in 1962.
Pakistan have visited India three times, but India have never lost to them in eight Davis Cup ties between the two countries.
"We have hosted Lithuania, Slovekia, Korea, Iran, Thailand. All these countries have come and there have been no issues.
"We won't play on a neutral venue. If India does not want to come, we will not play this tie. We will play on grass courts and the Indians are a better team. And in February-March, the weather is lovely in Islamabad," Saifullah said.

The tie levelled at 1-1, India needed to win the doubles but the pair of Yuki Bhambri and Rohan Bopanna lost 2-6 4-6 in just 65 minutes to the home team combo of Rune and Johannes Inglidsen.
The equation requiring India to win both the reverse singles to stay in World Group I, Nagal put a brave fight but lost 5-7 3-6 in one hour and 37 minutes in the first reverse singles.
That defeat gave Denmark an unassailable 1-3 lead and pushed India to World Group II.
Prajnesh Gunneswaran then took court in the dead rubber against Elmer Moeller and won 6-4 7-6(1) in one hour and 39 minutes. On Friday, Nagal had erased a one-set deficit to pip August Holmgren 4-6 6-3 6-4 in two hours and 27 minutes to make it 1-1 after Bhambri lost the opening singles 2-6 2-6 to the rising teen sensation Rune.

Gerard Pique's investment group Kosmos Tennis has filed a multimillion-dollar lawsuit against the International Tennis Federation for ending their partnership to organize the Davis Cup. The suit has been filed at the Court of Arbitration for Sport and Kosmos has accused ITF of 'unjustified termination of contract.' ITF had earlier this month ended its 25-year-long partnership with Kosmos unilaterally without providing reasons behind the decision. It said it will run this year's Davis Cup on its own. As per local reports, ITF was also considering legal action against Kosmos for allegedly not meeting the payments that had been agreed upon between the parties. The former Barcelona player who retired in November 2022 had earlier pledged an investment of $3 billion during the 25-year partnership.

Less than 5 years after it was first signed, the International Tennis Federation (ITF) ended its 25-year-long Davis Cup deal with former Barcelona player Gerard Pique's investment group Kosmos.

In 2018, the deal was signed for a period of 25 years but ITF decided to end the agreement in less than 5 years.

ITF and Pique's investment group came together in 2018 in an agreement worth $3 billion for 25 years.&nbsp;
The investment group Kosmos promised to invest $120 million per year in 2018 to revamp the competition for the benefit of all stakeholders.

However, ITF hasn't clarified yet why they ended the partnership less than 5 years into the deal, and there has been no comments from Kosmos as well.
