A minister in Pakistan's Punjab province says she regrets not allowing Aamir Khan's "Dangal" to release in the country in 2017.
Maryam Aurangzeb, who is now a senior minister in the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) in Punjab, said she had just become the information minister when "Dangal" was released internationally and in India.
"Yes, if there is one regret that I have when I was the Federal information minister it was banning the screening of 'Dangal' in Pakistan,&rdquo; Aurangzeb said on a popular podcast.
&ldquo;It was my first meeting with the censor board representatives and information ministry people and they recommended a ban on screening of the film giving some reasons for this,&rdquo; she added.
Aurangzeb said she approved the ban though she had not seen the film. In those days, the government allowed the release of Indian films in Pakistan.
&ldquo;One and half year later, I got a chance to see the film and I realised my decision to approve the ban was wrong. It was a film which was inspirational for our girls and was close to home,&rdquo; she said.
Though Indian films and actors remain hugely popular in Pakistan, the government has placed a ban on their screening in the country since 2019.
Indian films were screened in Pakistani cinemas between 2008 to 2019 and did excellent business.
Since the ban, dozens off cinema houses have gone out of business and are struggling to survive on Hollywood movies as the production quality Pakistani films remains very low.

Voicing his support for the protesting wrestlers, Dronacharya award-winning coach Mahavir Singh Phogat on Friday threatened to return his medals if justice is not delivered, demanding the arrest of WFI chief Brijbhushan Sharan Singh.
The wrestlers, including Olympic medallist duo of Sakshi Malik and Bajrang Punia and World Championship medallist Vinesh Phogat, have been sitting on a protest in the national capital since April 23, demanding the arrest of the Wrestling Federation of India Chief and BJP MP Singh for alleged sexual harassment of seven wrestlers, including a minor.
"I will return my medals if justice is not delivered in the case," Mahavir Phogat said.
"The kind of allegations he faces, action should be taken against him and he should be arrested," Mahavir Phogat, who had joined BJP over three years ago, added.

When asked if he had talked to the government or raised the matter at the party level, he said, "No there has been no talk so far." The protesting wrestlers had also threatened to return their medals and awards, including the Padma Shri, to the government after they were allegedly mistreated by the Delhi Police on Wednesday night.
Meanwhile, several Khaps in Haryana have also come in support of the protesting athletes.
On Thursday, many Khaps held protests including in Hisar, Bhiwani, Jind and Rohtak, expressing solidarity with the wrestlers and demanding that they should be given justice.
Notably, Mahavir Phogat is the father of wrestlers Babita and <a href="https://www.editorji.com/sports-news/others-sports/wrestler-geeta-phogat-claims-delhi-police-arrested-her-along-with-husband-pawan-saroha-1683207041055">Geeta Phogat, who was detained by the police along with her husband</a> on Thursday when she tried to meet the protesting wrestlers at Jantar Mantar.
He is also the uncle of Vinesh, who has been at the forefront of the protest.&nbsp;

Siddharth Anand has reportedly also become the only director to have delivered five 50 crore plus nett box office days in India and five 100 crore plus worldwide gross box office days.
The director talked about the same and shared, &lsquo;The feeling has not sunk in yet because it is such a huge one. To have directed a film that has smashed all records, that has become the number one Hindi film of all time is very daunting. I hope that I can entertain people to this level again. I will work just as hard and focus on my craft and try and keep making cinema that appeals to all audience segments like War and now Pathaan.&rsquo;
&lsquo;Pathaan&rsquo;, which was released on January 25, marked SRK&rsquo;s comeback to the big screen after almost four years.

Actor Fatima Sana Shaikh opened up about battling epilepsy. She also mentioned that she was scared to reveal it as she would lose her work.

Actor Fatima Sana Shaikh, who had previously shared that she suffers from epilepsy, recalled the day of the incident and called it the most difficult time. She said that she had five clusters of seizures when she was all alone. &nbsp;
Talking to Hindustan Times, the actor said that she was frightened when she got the seizure. She said, &lsquo;It kept my work and life on hold. For me this was a big jhatka, I really thought I&rsquo;m lucky that I survived. I&rsquo;ve had big episodes in the past, but this was the most difficult as I was all alone. Now I cannot travel alone, I need someone with me.&rsquo;
She further mentioned that she hasn&rsquo;t hidden her health condition, but never got a chance to talk about it. She stated, &lsquo;I&rsquo;ve not hidden it, but kabhi mauka nahi mila. I took some time to understand what it was. There&rsquo;s so much stigma attached. You think log sochenge that you have an ailment. I didn&rsquo;t want people to think I&rsquo;m weak. I was scared that if I tell people that I have this then I will not get work. I, also, didn&rsquo;t want to accept that I have a neurological condition.&rsquo;
The actor also mentioned the reason for not being open about it and said, &lsquo;People in the rural areas think drugs kar liya, devi chadh gayi. People don&rsquo;t get married because people don&rsquo;t know about it. They cannot work, because you become a liability. That is the reason I wasn&rsquo;t talking much about it or telling anyone about it.&rsquo;
Epilepsy is a neurological condition in which brain undergoes a period of instability and hence results in seizures and loss of consciousness.
