A study conducted by Assam Medical College Hospital, with support from an ICMR-recognized laboratory, revealed that 55% of Covishield recipients encountered only mild side effects, such as fever and headache, within a week of receiving the first dose. Moreover, the study found no long-term adverse effects after the year's end.
In a separate study, doctors from Kozhikode have conducted a distinct study indicating that the risks associated with the vaccine are negligible when weighed against its benefits.
<h3>How much to worried about?&nbsp;</h3>
Amidst the optimistic findings, it's crucial to acknowledge concerns about a rare side effect known as Thrombosis with Thrombocytopenia Syndrome (TTS), which was highlighted in a UK court case involving AstraZeneca's COVID-19 vaccine, marketed as Covishield in India and developed in partnership with the University of Oxford.
The Indian Express- quoted that, it is evident that the benefits of the Covishield vaccine in preventing severe COVID-19 disease and saving lives significantly outweigh the extremely low risk of rare adverse effects like Thrombosis with Thrombocytopenia Syndrome or TTS.
The research demonstrates that TTS is extremely rare. While any potential adverse reaction is understandably worrisome for patients, we cannot overlook the overwhelmingly positive effect this vaccine has had in significantly reducing COVID-19 hospitalizations, critical care requirements, and ultimately saving lives.

Manufacturers of Covid-19 vaccines Covishield and Covaxin have slashed the prices of the third dose or booster dose to ₹225 per shot at private hospitals. 
The move comes a day before the Covid-19 booster dose drive will be opened by for all people above 18 years of age. 
Adar Poonawalla, the owner of Serum Institute of India on Saturday announced that the price of Covishield has been brought down to ₹225 per dose from ₹600 for private hospitals. 
Meanwhile, Covaxin makers Bharat Biotech also issued a statement saying that they bringing down the price of the Covid-19 vaccine to ₹225 from ₹1200. 
The govt had announced on Friday that April 10 onwards anyone above 18 years of age will be eligible to take the Covid-19 precaution dose provided nine or more months have passed since the 2nd dose.

India has started giving booster shots to health workers, frontline workers and senior citizens with illnesses. The recommended period, however, between the second and the third dose is currently nine months.
The move to give full approval to vaccines will perk up India's booster drive. The recommendation by the expert panel of the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation has been sent to the top drug regulator DCGI.

The vaccines are unlikely to be available at the chemist shops anytime soon and people will still need to register on CoWIN platfomr for the third dose, reports quoting government sources said.
According to reports, 300 million doses of <a href="https://www.editorji.com/story/explained-should-gap-between-covid-19-doses-be-increased-1618295309957">Covishield</a> are presently stocked with the Serum Institute of India. Covishield accounts for 90% of vaccinations in India.
