The death of 21 people in a span of 78 hours at Delhi's Jaipur&nbsp;Golden hospital during the second wave of Covid-19 pandemic is still fresh in the memory.&nbsp;But in a status report filed before a Delhi court on Tuesday, the Delhi police have stated that the&nbsp;death of 21 Covid patients at Jaipur Golden Hospital&nbsp;in April was not caused due to shortage of oxygen. The hospital management also stated that the average mortality per day before and after the incident was only two and three respectively, which increased to 21 within a span of 7-8 hours.Family members of the deceased had approached the court&nbsp;claiming that the hospital management should be punished, and alleged that police, with mala fide intention, have neither arrested nor set up an inquiry against them.

AIIMS Director Dr Randeep Guleria said on Monday that there is no data anywhere in the world to corroborate the fact that the third wave of Covid-19 infections could affect children more than others.He added that according to the second wave data, out of all the children admitted to hospitals with Covid-19, 60-70% had co-morbidities or low immunity, some were on chemo therapy. The first Indian woman scientist to be elected a Fellow of the Royal Society also dispelled doubts over the efficacy of the two vaccines and said more options would be available soon.
&ldquo;The vaccines offer lot of protection against disease, severe disease; good protection against disease and some protection against infection. If you are protected against infection, you also don&rsquo;t transmit to the next person. So the vaccines are working very well against severe disease and death,&rdquo; said Dr. Kang, adding that they may not prevent infection but definitely decrease infection.

The government offices with one-third strength will function only till 5 pm instead of 6 pm now while shops business establishments will be closed at 6 pm, an hour before than what was decided last week.
Attendance at funerals has been reduced to 25 from 50 and likewise gathering in marriage curtailed to 100 till mid-May.
