The Drugs Controller General of India has approved emergency use of drug firm Hetero&rsquo;s Tocilizumab for treatment of hospitalised adults suffering from&nbsp;Covid-19.Hetero in a statement said that medical practitioners would be able to use the drug for treating Covid-19 in adults who receive systemic corticosteroids, and even those who require supplemental oxygen, non-invasive or invasive mechanical ventilation, or extracorporeal membrane oxygenation.
Hetero Group Chairman B Partha Saradhi Reddy&nbsp;said this approval is extremely crucial for supply security in India considering a global shortage of Tocilizumab. The drug firm&rsquo;s Tocilizumab&nbsp;would be available in the market by September end.
Hetero&rsquo;s associate company Hetero Healthcare will market its biosimilar version of Tocilizumab under the brand name Tocira, PTI reported.&nbsp;

The Delhi High Court on Monday disapproved of political leaders and Members of Parliament hoarding medicines which are used for treatment of COVID-19. &nbsp;The observation came after hoarding of drugs by BJP MP Gautam Gambhir was brought to the attention of the Court during the hearing.
The court said political leaders have no business to hoard such medicines at a time when citizens are suffering and running around for such drugs. &lsquo;If their intention is to do public good, then they should surrender Covid drugs to Director General of Health Services (DGHS) who will then distribute it to government hospitals,&rsquo; the Court said.
HC also asked Delhi Police to file status report after conducting proper probe into hoarding of medicines.
