Published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine, the research involved almost 200,000 men and women. The team found that coronavirus vaccination effectively prevented severe illness in people who exercised regularly.&nbsp;
The findings also suggested that those who walked or exercised on a regular basis were 25 per cent less likely to be hospitalised with Covid-19 as compared to those with a sedentary lifestyle.&nbsp;

The Union Health Ministry's decision to relax the norms about the precaution dose for overseas travellers was based on recommendations by the National Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (NTAGI).
"Indian citizens and students travelling overseas can now take the precaution dose as required by the guidelines of the destination country. This new facility will be available soon on the CoWIN portal," Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said in a tweet.
The advisory panel last week had recommended that those who need to travel overseas can take the precaution dose of Covid vaccine as required by the country they are travelling to before the mandatory nine-month gap.
Currently, all those above 18 years who have completed nine months after the second dose are eligible for the precaution jab.
The ministry had received several representations seeking the precaution dose of Covid vaccine for those who have to travel abroad for employment, business commitments, admission to foreign educational institutes, participating in sports events, and bilateral and multilateral meetings as part of India's official delegation.
"The issue was discussed in a meeting of NTAGI held last week after which it recommended that those who need to travel overseas can take the booster shot, before the stipulated nine-month waiting period, as per the booster guidelines of the country they are travelling to," a source had said.
India began administering precaution doses of Covid vaccines to healthcare and frontline workers and those aged 60 and above with comorbidities from January 10 this year.
The comorbidity clause was removed in March making all people aged above 60 eligible for the precaution dose of Covid vaccine.

Covaxin maker Bharat Biotech has received Drugs Controller General of India's permission to conduct Phase 3 trials for its nasal booster dose for novel coronavirus. 
The trials will be conducted at 9 locations in the country. 
Bharat Biotech has said that the intranasal booster dose will meant for people who have received both shots of Covaxin and it will be easier to administer during mass vaccination drives. 
According to the vaccine maker, the nasal dose, BBV154, stimulates immune responses at the the site of infection -- the nose -- and is very effective in blocking infection and transmission of Covid-19.

Covaxin maker Bharat&nbsp;Biotech has received Drugs Controller General of India's permission to conduct Phase 3 trials for its nasal booster dose for novel coronavirus.&nbsp;
The trials will be conducted at 9 locations in the country.&nbsp;
Bharat&nbsp;Biotech&nbsp;has said that the intranasal&nbsp;booster dose will meant for people who have received both shots of Covaxin&nbsp;and it will be easier to administer during mass vaccination drives.&nbsp;
According to the vaccine maker,&nbsp;the nasal dose, BBV154, stimulates immune responses at the the site of infection -- the nose -- and is very effective in blocking infection and transmission of Covid-19.

India's drug regulator has granted regular market approval for Covid-19 vaccines Covishield and Covaxin for use in the adult population subject to certain conditions, Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said on Thursday.
The two vaccines so far had restricted emergency use authorisation. 
"The regulator has upgraded the permission for Covaxin and Covishield from restricted use in emergency situations to normal new drug permission in the adult population with certain conditions," Mandaviya said.
According to news agency PTI, Covaxin and Covishield will soon be available at hospitals and clinics for people to buy. 
Gradually, the vaccine will be available in the market at a price lower than at what it was being sold earlier at private hospitals, the report added. 
The health minister also clarified that govt's free vaccination drive will continue even after the vaccines are made available in the regular market.

Months after people began sharing their stories online of experiencing abnormal menstruation following a COVID-19 vaccination, clinical research into a potential link is all set to begin.

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) has given $1.67 million to five institutions to explore potential links between the Covid-19 vaccination and menstrual changes. This comes after more than 30,000 women in the UK reported irregular, missed or heavier periods after taking the coronavirus vaccine.

The one-year supplemental grants have been given to Boston University, Harvard Medical School, Johns Hopkins University, Michigan State University and Oregon Health and Science University.&nbsp;
The new NIH research will establish if there is a correlation between menstrual changes and Covid-19 vaccines. And if so, why the change is occurring and for how long will it last. Researchers will also clarify the mechanisms underlying potential vaccine-related menstrual changes.
The study will improve the understanding of the effects of COVID-19 vaccines on menstruation. It will also give people who menstruate more information about what to expect after the vaccination and potentially reduce vaccine hesitancy.

For the study, researchers examined 105,446 women who were between 6 and 19 weeks into their pregnancies. Amongst them, 7.8 percent had received at least one dose of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine and 6 percent had received at least one shot of Moderna.
As per the findings, 13,160 women suffered miscarriages between December 2020 to June 2021. The team found that the risk of miscarriage was the same for those who did not get vaccinated.
The study addresses concerns amongst pregnant patients regarding specific risks of pregnancy loss or miscarriage following COVID-19 vaccination.
