The death toll due to the viral disease shot up to over 4.44 lakh.

The death toll has climbed to over 4.38 lakh with 380 fresh fatalities, which include 131 from Maharashtra and 75 from Kerala.
The ministry said that 34,763 people recovered from the virus in the last 24 hours while the recovery rate increased to 97.51 per cent.

With 491 fatalities the death toll due to the viral disease shot up to over 4.27 lakh, the Union health ministry said.
The number of active coronavirus cases declined to 4,06822, in the same period while 43,910 patients recovered from the virus.
India's overall&nbsp;Covid-19 recovery rate stands at 97.39% while the daily positivity rate was recorded at 2.27 per cent. It has been less than 3 per cent for the last 13 days.
The govt also informed that over 50.68 crore Covid-19 vaccine doses have been administered so far.

Rajasthan has been vaccinating 2.5 lakh people per day, says it is now only left with 5.85 lakh doses. The state's Health Minister Dr Raghu Sharma sent an SOS message to the centre, asking for an urgent supply, to which the centre rushed 85,000 emergency doses to the state. A 14-year-old Indian-American girl has won a USD 25,000 young scientist challenge for a discovery that could provide a potential treatment for Covid-19.
Anika Chebrolu, an eighth-grader from Texas, won the 3M Young Scientist Challenge,&nbsp;for her work on finding a molecule that can selectively bind to the spike protein of SARS-CoV-2 virus in an attempt to find a cure for the same, according to the 3M Challenge website.
Chebrolu was one of the 10 finalists in this year&rsquo;s 3M Young Scientist Challenge. In addition to the prize money, she was also awarded an exclusive 3M Mentorship.
