Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj S Chouhan on Thursday said the state government will approach the Supreme Court against the high court order that restricts political rallies in the state in view of the coronavirus pandemic, ahead of the coming by-elections in 28 seats.
Pointing out how political rallies are being held in Bihar every day as the state prepares to go to polls, Chauhan said there can't be such contradicting legislation in one country.
The high court on Tuesday restrained district magistrates in 9 districts from giving permission for any physical public meeting, while observing &lsquo;health and life of a common man is more precious compared to the right to campaigning for a candidate'.

The chart showed that the Indian economy is projected to contract by a massive 10.3 per cent this year, the highest contraction among the countries mentioned.
"Another solid achievement by the BJP government. Even Pakistan and Afghanistan handled Covid better than India," Gandhi tweeted with the chart.
The former Congress chief on Wednesday had also taken a dig at the government over IMF growth projections showing Bangladesh closing in on India in terms of per capita GDP this year and described it as a "solid achievement" of six years of BJP's "hate-filled cultural nationalism".
The Indian economy, severely hit by the coronavirus pandemic, is projected to contract by a massive 10.3 per cent this year, the International Monetary Fund had said on Tuesday.
However, India is likely to bounce back with an impressive 8.8 per cent growth rate in 2021, thus regaining the position of the fastest growing emerging economy, surpassing China's projected growth rate of 8.2 per cent, the IMF said in its latest 'World Economic Outlook' report.

Mumbai Police on Tuesday issued a show-cause notice to Republic TV's Editor-in-Chief ArnabGoswami over his alleged communal comments during his coverage of the Palghar lynching case and the Bandra migrants incident in April this year. Goswami&nbsp;has been asked why&nbsp;a bond of good behaviour should not be taken from him, a police official told PTI.&nbsp;He has been asked to appear before the Special Executive Magistrate and Assistant Commissioner of Police, Worli Division on Friday at 4 pm.&nbsp;

Mumbai, PTI: Mumbai Police on Tuesday issued a show-cause notice to Republic TV's Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami over his alleged communal comments during his coverage of the Palghar lynching case and the Bandra migrants incident in April this year. The notice has been sent under section 108 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), asking Mr Goswami to show reasons as to why a bond of good behaviour should not be taken from him, a police official said.
He has been asked to appear before the Special Executive Magistrate and Assistant Commissioner of Police, Worli Division on Friday at 4 pm, the official added.
On April 21, Arnab Goswami conducted a debate on his show "Puchhta Hain Bharat" on Republic Bharat about the attack on two monks and their driver in Maharashtra's Palghar.
The show-cause notice said during the debate (in Hindi), Mr Goswami asked whether it was a crime to be Hindu and wear saffron clothes and whether people would have remained silent had the victims not been Hindus.
A case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code for "giving provocation to cause riot" and "promoting enmity between different groups on the basis of religion" and other sections has been registered against Mr Goswami following the program, it added.
His comments could create communal disharmony and hatred between Hindus and Muslims, and the show evoked strong reactions on YouTube, the notice said.
Only because of the coronavirus pandemic there was no violence but the comments posed a threat to communal integrity and law and order, so as a preventive action the police had now started the process of taking an undertaking for good behaviour from Arnab Goswami, the official said.
A bond of ₹ 10 lakh for the duration of one year with one guarantor "who is well-known in society and who can control his behaviour" will be taken from Mr Goswami, he added.

New Delhi, PTI: The coronavirus pandemic has shown the risk involved in excessive dependence of the global supply chain on any single source, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said during a virtual bilateral summit on Monday with his Danish counterpart Mette Frederiksen.
The prime minister said India is working with Australia and Japan to diversify the supply chain, noting that like-minded countries are welcome to join the initiative.
In his opening remarks at the summit, the PM also said the events of the last few months have brought forth the need for countries believing in transparency, democratic value system and rules-based order to work together.
"The pandemic showed the risk involved in excessive dependence of the global supply chain on any single source," Modi said without naming any country or source.
The prime minister also highlighted the government's 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat' (self-reliant India) initiative as well as various reform measures in the areas of agriculture, taxation and labour market.
"We are focusing on all-round reforms under the (Aatmanirbhar Bharat) initiative," he said, adding companies working in India will be benefited from regulatory and taxation reforms.
Denmark is a key country in Northern Europe with whom India's bilateral trade ties witnessed a significant expansion in the last few years.
According to official figures, bilateral trade in goods and services between India and Denmark grew by 30.49 per cent between 2016 and 2019 as the trade volume rose from USD 2.82 billion to USD 3.68 billion.
Around 200 Danish companies have invested in India in sectors such as shipping, renewable energy, environment, agriculture and food processing.
Nearly 5,000 Indian professionals are working in major Danish companies, while 20 Indian IT companies are operating in Denmark for decades, according to official data.
Major Danish companies such as Grundfos, Danfoss, Vestas, LM Wind, Novozymes, Rockwool, Haldor Topsoe, etc. have set up factories and manufacturing facilities in India under the 'Make in India' scheme.

"We have great support from India. We have great support from Prime Minister Modi. I would think that the Indian (American) people would be voting for Trump," the president told reporters at a White House news conference.
Trump was responding to a question on a video titled, "Four more years" released by the Trump Campaign during the Republican National Convention last month. Tweeted by Kimberly Guilfoyle, national chair of Trump Victory Finance Committee and retweeted by his son Donald Trump Jr, the video conceptualised by Al Mason, co-chair of the Trump Victory Indian American Finance Committee, has short clips from the Modi-Trump joint address in Houston last year and Ahmedabad in February this year.
"Would Kimberly, Don Jr, and Ivanka Trump, who are very popular among Indian Americans, would be campaigning on your behalf among the Indian Americans with your views on India-US relationship?" he was asked.
"I know India and I understood those young people (Kimberley, Donald J Trump Jr and Ivanka) that you mentioned. They're very good young people. And I know their relationship with India is very good and so is mine," Trump said.
The president said that he has a very good relationship with PM Modi.
"Prime Minister Modi is a friend of mine and he's doing a very good job. Nothing easy, but he's done a very good job," he said as he recollected his historic address at the 'Howdy Mody' event in Houston last September.
"We had an event in Houston, as you know. And it was a fantastic event. I was invited by Prime Minister Modi and this was a massive (event)... And it was incredible. And the prime minister could not have been more generous. We have great support from India. We have great support from Prime Minister Modi," Trump said.
The president then referred to his India visit early this year in February before the coronavirus pandemic hit the two countries.
"I also, as you know, went to India just prior to the pandemic setting in because India has been hit very hard, left really about a week before that, and we had an incredible time. What we saw the people are so incredible it's really an incredible place, an incredible country and its definitely big," he said.
"But you've got a great leader and he''s a great person," Trump said.
In recent weeks both the Democrats and Republicans have intensified their outreach to the Indian American community, in particular in the battle ground states.
