Union Minister of State for Home Nisith Pramanik's convoy faced a hail of stones after it was attacked allegedly by a TMC-backed mob in West Bengal's Cooch Behar on Saturday.&nbsp;
The mob attacked Pramanik's SUV with sticks and hurled stones damaging its windshield and making the minister run for his life. Pramanik is a MP from the area.
Footage shared by ANI shows Pramanik surrounded by supporters while a mob with sticks tries to break the barrier created by security personnel.&nbsp;
Speaking with the news agency, the minister slammed the ruling TMC and said "Democracy in the state has collapsed. If a minister is not safe in the state then just think of the common man's plight."

Pramanik also lashed out at the police and said, " Police are mere spectators here. Look, they are protecting those who are attacking.&nbsp;
The police at the spot had to fire tear gas to disperse the angry crowd.&nbsp;

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday while addressing a rally in Asansol slammed TMC supremo and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for doing politics over dead bodies. PM Modi&rsquo;s comment came in the wake of the alleged audio clip in which Banerjee was heard telling TMC MLA to take out a rally with the dead bodies of those killed in Sitalkuchi violence. &lsquo;The truth is that Didi was trying to take political benefits from the deaths of those killed in Cooch Behar&rsquo;, PM Modi added and asked the Bengal CM how far she will go for votes.

The complaint was filed after Siddique Ali Mia, the zilla president of BJP's minority cell in Cooch Behar, cited the TMC supremo's comments during a rally, claiming that her address provoked people to attack CISF personnel during the fourth phase of state elections. He also attached a video clip of Banerjee's speech in his complaint at Mathabhanga police station.
