After facing severe criticism for his outrageous "enjoy rape" remark, Congress MLA and ex-speaker KR Ramesh Kumar apologised for his comment made on the Karnataka assembly floor on Thursday.
Ramesh said that if the statement hurts the sentiments of women, he has no problem apologising. "I apologise from bottom of my heart," the MLA stated.
The senior Congress leader, during a discussion, had said: "There is a saying- when rape is inevitable, lie down and enjoy it. That's exactly the position in which you are".
The remark triggered a widespread outrage and calls for action against the MLA. Ramesh Kumar made the shocking remark while demanding more time during a discussion in the House.
Speaker Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri was running short of time and wanted to wind up the discussion by 6 pm whereas the MLAs were insisting to extend the time.
As the Speaker questioned how the House can be run if everyone just kept demanding more time, Ramesh came up with the horrible analogy.
And what's worse is that no one objected to the crass analogy. The Speaker and other MLAs just laughed it off and went on with the business in the House.

A video allegedly showing former Congress MLA Asif Khan in Delhi's Okhla caning and abusing staff of the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) for reportedly removing hoardings and posters put up by him has gone viral. 
The video of the incident, purportedly shows Khan beating four men with a stick and directing them to hold their ears while doing squats, surfaced on Friday. 
Khan told PTI he had noticed that for quite some time that hoardings put up by him in the area were swiftly removed while those of a local AAP MLA and municipal corporations remained untouched.
Reacting to the incident, police on Friday said they will be registering an FIR in the matter.

However, Khan said he had no knowledge that they were SDMC staff.
"I don't know who they were. I have also received no call or a message from the SDMC about the incident," he said.

A Congress MLA and her Husband have been caught on camera allegedly creating a ruckus at a police station here after her nephew was booked for drunken driving and his vehicle impounded.
A video of the Shergarh MLA Meera Kanwar and her husband Ummed Singh, a PCC member, purportedly showing the duo sitting on the floor of the police station and arguing with policemen that all children drink and a bit of drinking does no harm, went viral on Monday night.
&ldquo;Sabke bacche peete hain. Kya hua jo thodi bahut le li? (All children drink. What happened if he took a little),&rdquo; the MLA is heard telling officials at the Ratanada police station while demanding the immediate release of her nephew and his vehicle.
The MLA and her husband are also heard rather accusing the policemen of misbehaving with them under the influence of liquor and asking them to leave their chairs and stand up in front of the MLAs.
In the video, though the policemen are heard requesting the MLA and her husband to sit on chairs, they sat on the floor of the police station in a bid to pressurise the policemen.
Eventually, under the MLA's pressure, the local policemen allowed her to leave the police station along with her nephew and his vehicle despite the police having lodged a formal case against her nephew under section 185 of the Motor Vehicle Act and impounding the vehicle, a senior police official said requesting anonymity.
On being asked about the video, DCP (East) Bhuvan Bhushan Yadav said that the investigation of the case had been given to the ACP (East).
&ldquo;Only after the investigation, we would be able to arrive at some conclusion,&rdquo; Yadav said.
Meena Kanwar, however, claimed that police misbehaved with her nephew despite him giving his introduction.
&ldquo;He was not found under the influence of liquor. On his information, we reached the police station but police behaved rudely with us,&rdquo; she alleged.
