Making the sixth price hike since April this year, city gas distributor Mahanagar Gas (MGL) has announced the second price hike of Rs 6 per kilogram for CNG and by Rs 4 a unit for piped natural gas with immediate effect.
The price revision comes amidst rising prices of the natural gas at source both internationally as well as for domestically drilled gas. Rising prices have forced suppliers and distributors to cut down on industrial supplies since the past many weeks.
The utility said the price hike is to meet the shortfall in domestic gas allocation, as it forced to source additional market-priced natural gas to cater to the increasing requirement of CNG and PNG.
The last increase was effected on July 12 when the state-run utility hiked the retail price of CNG by Rs 6 per kilogram and PNG by Rs 3/SCM.
The Centre had increased the price of domestic and imported natural gas by over 110 per cent from April 1. This had completely offset the steep price reduction announced by the state by way of slashing VAT on these fuels to 3.5 per cent from 13.5 per cent from April 1.

CNG PNG Price Today : Making the sixth price hike since April this year, city gas distributor Mahanagar Gas (MGL) has announced the second price hike of Rs 6 per kilogram for Compressed natural gas (CNG) and by Rs 4 a unit for piped natural gas with immediate effect.
The price revision comes amidst rising prices of the natural gas at source both internationally as well as for domestically drilled gas. Rising prices have forced suppliers and distributors to cut down on industrial supplies since the past many weeks.

CNG&nbsp;Price Hike Latest News:&nbsp;CNG price increased by Rs 2 per kg in Delhi and NCR.&nbsp;CNG is now priced at Rs 75.61 per kg in Delhi, Rs 78.17 per kg in Noida, while in Gurugram, it will cost Rs 83.94 per kg. This is the second hike in CNG&nbsp;in less that a week.The price of CNG&nbsp;has been adding considerable pressure on budgets.&nbsp;This is the fourth price hike this month and the 12th since March 7. In all, CNG price has risen by Rs 17.6 per kg in less than six weeks. This includes a&nbsp;₹9.50 per kg hike in the last month along.&nbsp;In the last one year, prices have increased by&nbsp;₹30.21 per kg or 60%.&nbsp;Rising CNG&nbsp;prices has led to pressure on auto drivers in the capital region as well and the unions have demanded a fare revision. As per reports a Delhi government committee tasked with fare revision of auto-rickshaws and taxis is likely to recommend a proportionate increase in fares soon.&nbsp;
