U.S energy secretary Jennifer Granholm has said that U.S based First Solar will invest in India to produce solar panels without sourcing materials from China

U.S based First Solar will invest billions of dollars in India to make solar panels, reported The Economic Times. The report quoted U.S energy secretary Jennifer Granholm and said that the company will produce the panels without sourcing materials from China.
"Funding-wise, India has committed, and the private sector is clearly listening. For example, US firm First Solar will invest billions of dollars for production of solar panels in India that does not depend on any materials from China. They are doing the same expansion in the US", Granholm told Economic Times.
As per the report, Granholm also mentioned that Tesla is in discussions to invest in the country. Last month, Tesla CEO Elon Musk had said that Tesla will be in India "as soon as humanely possible"

Jennifer Granholm was in India for the India-US Strategic Clean Energy Partnership meet that was held on Tuesday. She met Union Minister of oil &amp; gas Hardeep Singh Puri and Minister of state for new and renewable energy RK Singh during her visit.&nbsp;
Granholm elaborated on the ways in which both the countries can benefit from each other. She also mentioned that U.S will bring 17 labs to partner with India as part of the committment reached to create innovative investment platforms during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the U.S
"The pillar of a green strategic partnership - whether it is biofuels, green hydrogen, offshore wind, or grid or energy storage, the whole gamut of technologies - (is that) each country brings something, so we can learn from each other. We launched something new mentioned in the leaders' summit. We will bring our 17 national labs to partner India on its own ambitions. We talked about this with minister Puri", Granholm told Economic Times.

US researchers announced a historic nuclear fusion breakthrough on Tuesday that could pave the way for alternative clean energy sources.
The Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) said an experiment it conducted this month "produced more energy from fusion than the laser energy used to drive it."
The US Department of Energy described the achievement of fusion ignition as a "major scientific breakthrough" that will lead to "advancements in national defense and the future of clean power."

LLNL director Dr. Kim Budil described it as "is one of the most significant scientific challenges ever tackled by humanity."
Scientists have been working for decades to develop nuclear fusion -- touted by its supporters as a clean, abundant and safe source of energy that could eventually allow humanity to break its dependence on the fossil fuels driving a global climate crisis.

India's most valuable company Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) reported earnings for Q1 and despite a 7% drop in profit have beaten the street estimates.
Operating numbers showed resilience during the pandemic with consolidated operating profit of the company growing 27.6 per cent on-year to a record high of Rs 27,550 cr.The revenue from the main business of oil-to-chemical also saw significant surge, up 75% on a year-on-year basis.&nbsp;The telecom&nbsp;vertical with&nbsp;Jio Platforms outperformed estimates on all parameters. Revenues and profit grew 4 per cent each and the platform reported that&nbsp;total users stood at 440 million at the end of June.&nbsp;The focus from here on though moves to clean energy as RIL&nbsp;chief Mukesh&nbsp;Ambani&nbsp;told shareholders in the earnings release;&nbsp; "I am most excited by the swift start to our new Clean and Green Energy business initiative. We have started investment across all verticals. We are also resolutely implementing our vision of net carbon zero before 2035, which is our highest priority."
