<p>Actor Dinesh Phadnis, best known for playing Fredericks on the hit Sony TV show &lsquo;CID&rsquo; has passed away. The actor was receiving treatment at Mumbai&rsquo;s Tunga Hospital. His last rites will be performed at Daulat Nagar Crematorium, Borivali East. &nbsp;<br><br>Earlier last week, there were reports that Dinesh had suffered a heard attack. Dayanand Shetty had cleared the rumours and said that Dinesh was suffering from liver damage, not heart attack.&nbsp;<br><br>Dayanand Shetty, who played the character of Daya in &lsquo;CID&rsquo;, said, "Firstly, it wasn't a heart attack, it was liver damage, because of which he was immediately rushed to Tunga Hospital, Malad. For the last two days, he has been very critical. Today morning (Sunday) also I've learned that there's no major improvement. We're hoping he gets better soon."&nbsp;<br><br>He added, "Dinesh was getting treated for some other ailment but the medication affected his liver adversely. That's why it is always recommended to take medicines very carefully. You never know when the medicine that one is taking to treat something can cause another major ailment. &nbsp;<br><br>Dinesh played the funny and innocent &lsquo;CID&rsquo; officer Fredericks on &lsquo;CID&rsquo;, along with Shivaji Satam and Aditya Shrivastava. Talking about how he landed the role, Dinesh had said in an interview, &ldquo;I remember I was struggling for roles and wherever I went to seek work, I met B P Singh (producer of &lsquo;CID&rsquo;). I am not aware if it was sheer luck or co incidence. Finally, he asked me if I wanted to join &lsquo;CID&rsquo; and that's how my journey began. Later I also took up &lsquo;Aahat&rsquo;.&rdquo;&nbsp;<br><br>"The show earlier had no humour at all. So I was chosen to be the comic relief. And I must say that I have received great response from the masses." <p>Weeks after Assam police claimed to have shot dead a dacoit named Kenaram, an inquiry has reportedly found that it was a case of "mistaken identity".</p>
<p>A CID probe found that the deceased was not Kenaram, but a person named Dimbeswar, who was a "small farmer" according to his family.</p>
<p>The encounter took place on 24 February 2023, and police claimed that 2 cops were also injured in the shootout.</p>
<p>The dead body was initially handed over to Kenaram's family, but after the funeral, Dimbeswar's family raised objections. Amid the furore, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma ordered a CID probe which began on 2 March.</p>

<p>Ten days after a Russian businessman and lawmaker died in Odisha, investigators are planning to conduct a simulation in which a dummy will be dropped from the hotel's third floor.</p>

<p>The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) will use a dummy with the same weight and height as Antov to recreate the circumstances in which he died. Experts will try to ascertain the nature of the incident and injury marks on Antov's body, and cross-check with the autopsy report.</p>
<p>Investigators also continued to interrogate the hotel staffers, while the seized items will be sent for forensic examination.</p>
<p>The local police, which conducted the autopsy, did not preserve the viscera samples for future investigation. The CID has collected some remnants of Antov's body from the crematorium.</p>

Russian nationals death: CID seizes burnt remnants from crematorium

<p>The investigating agency has also collected the list of guests who visited the hotel at Rayagada from December 21 to December 27. "The address and other details of guests are obtained for verification," the official said.</p>

<p>The CID of Odisha Police seized burnt remnants of two Russian nationals including a lawmaker from the cremation ground at Rayagada for forensic examination as part of its probe into the mystery over the twin deaths of the foreigners.</p>
<p>The CID which is probing the deaths of Vladimir Bidenov (61) and Pavel Antov (65), a lawmaker in Russia, was also planning to take the help of Interpol as the investigation may require interrogation and examination of certain people in Russia, an official said on Saturday.</p>
<p>"We are yet to take a final decision in this regard," the official added.</p>
<p>A senior official involved in the investigation of the case said "seizure of burnt remnants of the deceased could be useful for future investigation in the case." Odisha&rsquo;s premier investigating agency on Saturday also completed recording the statement of two fellow tourists of the deceased Russians.</p>
<p>"Recording of the statement of accompanying Russian couple namely Turov Mikhail and Pane Senko Natalia with the assistance of interpreter and of tourist guide Jitendra Singh completed with audio-video recording of the whole process," a statement issued by the CID said.</p>

<p>Of the four Russians visiting Odisha&rsquo;s Rayagada district, Bidenov died on December 22 while Antov succumbed to a fall from height on December 24. The local police based on the permission given by the deceased persons family members and the Russian Consulate, Kolkata cremated both the bodies.</p>
<p>While police preserved the viscera of Bidenov, the same was not done in the case of Antov.</p>
<p>A team of CID sleuths also thoroughly checked the two rooms of the hotel where the deceased persons were staying, the official said, adding that some articles were also seized from the rooms.</p>
<p>The investigating agency has also collected the list of guests who visited the hotel at Rayagada from December 21 to December 27. "The address and other details of guests are obtained for verification," the official said.</p>
<p>The CID also obtained the list of hotel staff and they are being examined by the team, the official added.</p>

CID Raids Former DIG’s House

<p>The CID raided the residence of retired DIG of Assam Police, Pradip Kr Dutta in connection with the SI exams paper leak investigation. According eye witness account, the sleuths recovered about 5 kg gold jewellery and some utensils made of bell metal (supposed to be expensive) and some documents. The raid was conducted overnight. The CID team left Dutta&rsquo;s residence at around 3am on Thursday. Dutta was not present. His daughter and domestic help were the only people present at the house during the raid.</p>
