A growing number of American adults, who aren&rsquo;t already parents, see no point in making more humans, finds a new survey.&nbsp;
Around 44&nbsp;per cent&nbsp;of non-parents aged 18 to 49 say it&rsquo;s not too likely, or not at all likely for them to ever have children as per&nbsp;the&nbsp;Pew Research Centre report.&nbsp;This is an increase of 7&nbsp;per cent&nbsp;in the same group that was&nbsp;also&nbsp;surveyed in 2018.

Factors like apathy, financial instability, medical problems and the&nbsp;world feeling too &lsquo;bleak&rsquo; were the top reasons for their choice to abstain&nbsp;from&nbsp;parenthood.&nbsp;
Notably, Americans are not alone in this sentiment. In a recent survey, around 41 per cent&nbsp;of young Indians also expressed hesitance in having their own children, due to the&nbsp;diminishing&nbsp;state of the planet.&nbsp;

The movement to be 'childfree'&nbsp;
The &lsquo;childfree&rsquo; movement has also gained momentum on social media where more couples and, especially&nbsp;women who have chosen to not have kids are amplifying&nbsp;conversations about personal freedom.
While the childfree phenomenon isn't new, the pandemic may have brought more people into its fold.&nbsp;The outbreak&nbsp;has&nbsp;given people more time to rethink and reset their priorities. It also highlighted&nbsp;shortcomings&nbsp;of the healthcare system&nbsp;and&nbsp;magnified economic insecurities.
In fact, a new study confirms that&nbsp;for most high-income countries,&nbsp;the expected&nbsp;pandemic baby boom&nbsp;was actually&nbsp;a bust.&nbsp;Appearing in the&nbsp;Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences USA, the research found that 7 of the 22 rich economies studied saw a&nbsp;statistically significant birth decline&nbsp;in the final months of 2020.&nbsp;

According to a new study, children who increased their connection to nature during COVID lockdowns have lower levels of emotional and behavioural problems. The study led by researchers at the University of Cambridge and the University of Sussex, also found that children from affluent families tended to have increased their connection to nature during the pandemic more than their less affluent peers.
An increased connection to nature was reflected in children spending time gardening, playing in the backyard or doing physical activities outdoors. This was commonly linked to having more time available for these activities during the lockdown.&nbsp;
The study used an online survey to collect responses from 376 families in the UK, with children between three and seven years old. Over half of these families reported that their child's connection to nature increased during the first COVID-19 lockdown. The remaining parents whose children's connection to nature decreased or stayed the same during this period also reported that their children were experiencing a problem of well-being and increased sadness or anxiety.

Details on when the vaccination drive will commence for children between 12-17 years of age will be announced before the Zydus Cadila vaccine is rolled out in October, the government's Covid panel chief NK Arora said. 
He further said that there are 12 crore children in the 12-17 age group, however, vaccination priority will be given to those with health complications. 
Most schools in India have been shut since the first nationwide lockdown imposed in March 2020. This has brought forth unprecedented challenges such as denying many children access to quality education. 
Addressing this issue, Dr Arora said, 'there are about 44 crore children in India under the age of 18 and suggested reopening of schools was necessary for the intellectual development of children.'

The Shivraj Singh Chouhan government in Madhya Pradesh has become the first state government to come to the rescue of kids who have become orphans&nbsp;or lost either of their parents/guardians due to the Covid pandemic.
