This is the second time Asha became pregnant after a miscarriage at the time of translocation. Experts believe that she lost the embryos due to stress at that time.
Sharing the clip of the cubs on social media X, India's environment minister Bhupender Yadav praised wildlife experts involved in Project Cheetah, which was commenced on September 17, 2022, to restore the population of the wild cats, which were declared extinct in the country in 1952.&nbsp;

In May last year, three of four cubs born to another Namibian cheetah named 'Jwala' died soon after birth. Six adults introduced at Kuno have also died since the beginning of the project, taking the total number of deaths to nine.
A total of 20 cheetahs were brought in from Namibia and South Africa. On September 17, 2022, on the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi&rsquo;s birthday, eight cheetahs came from Namibia, while 12 arrived from South Africa in February 2023. Asha was named by Modi.&nbsp;

The Supreme Court on August 7 said that there was no reason to doubt the government on the Cheetah project that aims at the reintroduction of big cats in India. The court's observation came while hearing a petition on the death of nine cheetahs this year in MP's Kuno National Park.
In the last 11 months, 9 cheetahs have died including three cubs.
The government in the apex court denied any negligence and emphasised that foreign experts were consulted prior to making the arrangements.
The government also asserted that while challenges exist, there is no cause for alarm, according to NDTV reports.

Nine cheetahs have died in Madhya Pradesh's Kuno national park in about five months.

One more cheetah has died at the Kuno National Park in Madhya Pradesh, making it the ninth feline to die since March, according to a statement from the state forest department.
"This morning, one of the female cheetahs -- Dhatri (Tbilisi) -- was found dead. A post-mortem is being conducted to determine the cause of death," the statement reads.
Fourteen cheetahs -- seven males, six females and a female cub -- are kept in enclosures in Kuno. A team comprising Kuno wildlife veterinarians and a Namibian expert regularly monitors their health.
One female cheetah is out in the open and is under intensive monitoring by the team. Efforts are underway to bring her back to an enclosure for a health examination, the statement said.
Last month, two cheetahs died due to infection in wounds caused by the radio collars around their necks. However, the environment ministry said all cheetah deaths were due to natural causes.
Experts involved in the cheetah reintroduction project had told PTI that heavy rain, extreme heat, and humidity may have caused the problems, "with the collars fitted around the necks of the cheetahs potentially causing additional complications".
Following the deaths, all the cheetahs, except the two females, were brought back to their enclosures for examination. An expert veterinarian from South Africa cleaned up the wounds. All the cheetahs have been administered Fluralaner, a systemic insecticide and acaricide given orally or topically.
Under the much-vaunted Project Cheetah, a total of 20 animals were imported from Namibia and South Africa to the KNP in two batches -- one in September last year and the second in February this year.
Since March, six of these adult cheetahs have died due to various reasons. In May, three of the four cubs born to a female Namibian cheetah had also succumbed to extreme heat. The remaining cub is being hand-raised for future wildling.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi released the first batch of eight spotted felines from Namibia into a quarantine enclosure at Kuno in Madhya Pradesh on September 17 last year. In a second such translocation, 12 cheetahs were flown in from South Africa and released into Kuno on February 18.
Three cheetahs died in March and April. Of the 17 remaining adult cheetahs, seven have already been released into the wild. The death of three adult cheetahs and three of the four cubs born to a female Namibian cheetah, Sisaya, has prompted questions from several experts on the suitability of the habitat and wildlife management.
 "It's an international project and we had anticipated mortality. It's mentioned in our report too (cheetah introduction action plan). One of the cheetahs was unwell before it even came to India. We have provided the reasons for the deaths of the two other (adult) cheetahs.
"The three cubs died due to extreme heat. The temperature soared to 47 degrees Celsius... We take responsibility for whatever happened. However, the project will be a major success and the whole country will be proud of it," he said in reply to a question at Times Network's conclave.
Shortly after news emerged about the death of two cheetah cubs last week, the Centre set up an 11-member high-level steering committee to review and monitor the progress of the Cheetah reintroduction programme.
The government and experts involved in the project have maintained that the mortalities are within the normal range. The action plan for cheetah reintroduction anticipated up to 50 per cent mortality in the first year of relocation.
The steering committee met for the first time on Wednesday and decided to release seven more cheetahs, including two females, into the wild by the third week of June.

During his meeting with MP Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Yadav said he will be visiting KNP, in Sheopur district, on June 6.
Six cheetahs have died at KNP since March. While three of the four cubs born to cheetah Jwala died on May 23, Sasha, one of the translocated Namibian cheetahs, died due to a kidney-related ailment on March 27, and cheetah Uday, brought from South Africa, died on April 13.
Daksha, a cheetah brought from South Africa, succumbed to the injuries following a violent interaction with a male during a mating attempt on May 9 this year.

After the clearance procedure in Gwalior, these cheetahs will be flown to the KNP in an IAF helicopter, another official said.

An Indian Air Force (IAF) plane carrying 12 cheetahs from South Africa landed in Madhya Pradesh's Gwalior on Saturday morning, from where they will be taken to the Kuno National Park (KNP) in Sheopur district, around 165 kms from here, and released into quarantine enclosures.
These cheetahs - seven males and five females - comprise the second set of big cats coming to the state, with the first group of eight from Namibia having been released into the KNP on September 17 last year at a function by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
"A plane carrying cheetahs from South Africa landed at the Gwalior airport around 10 am," Gwalior Superintendent of Police (SP) Amit Sanghi told PTI.
After the clearance procedure in Gwalior, these cheetahs will be flown to the KNP in an IAF helicopter, another official said.

As per the plan, they will be offloaded at the KNP around 12 noon, after which MP Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Union Minister for Environment and Forests Bhupender Yadav would release them into quarantine bomas, he added.
These animals had embarked on a journey to their new home thousands of miles away aboard an IAF transport aircraft from the O R Tambo International Airport, Gauteng in South Africa shortly before midnight, a project participant and expert told PTI.
KNP Director Uttam Sharma said they have set up 10 quarantine bomas for South African cheetahs. In two of these facilities, two pairs of cheetahs would be kept.
"We have completed our preparations to receive the big cats," he added.
The intercontinental translocation of these fastest land animals - first from Namibia and now from South Africa - is part of the Indian government's ambitious cheetah reintroduction programme. The country's last cheetah died in Koriya district of present-day Chhattisgarh in 1947 and the species was declared extinct in 1952.
Experts said a delegation from South Africa had visited the KNP early September last year to see the arrangements at the wildlife sanctuary for housing the cheetahs.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between India and South Africa last month for the translocation of the mammals.
South Africa has donated these big cats to India. But India has to pay USD 3,000 for the capture of every cheetah to the African nation before they are translocated, said the wildlife expert.
India had planned to airlift these South African cheetahs in August last year but couldn't do so due to delay in signing a formal translocation agreement between the two countries.
PM Modi had released eight cheetahs flown in from Namibia into the KNP on September 17 last year amid a lot of fanfare, setting the ball rolling for the revival of their population in India where these distinctively spotted cat species became extinct seven decades ago.
The cheetahs from Namibia &ndash; five females and three males &ndash; are currently in hunting enclosures at the park before their full release into the wild.
Due to the delay in the MoU signing for the inter-continental translocation of these big cats, some experts had in December expressed concern over the health of the South African cheetahs as these animals have been quarantined in their home country since July 15 in anticipation of their transfer to India.
As per Indian wildlife laws, a month-long quarantine is mandatory before importing animals and they are required to be kept in isolation for another 30 days after arrival in the country.
The experts said the spotted animals' metapopulation (cheetah count in small and medium parks) in South Africa has risen to 504 from 217 in 2011.
Former Union Environment Minister Jairam Ramesh had initiated 'Project Cheetah' in 2009 under the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government with an aim to reintroduce the wild cats in India.

"For a genetically viable population in India in the long-term you need at least 500 individuals, so every year we will send eight to 12 animals, to top them up, to increase numbers, to bring in new genetics until they have a viable population," said van der Merwe.
Indian officials say the move will aid global cheetah conservation efforts since their range in Africa is limited.
The plan is for the cats to be kept in large enclosures in central Indian forests, protected from other predators like leopards or bears, to give them time to get used to their new home.
The enclosures have prey — like deer and antelope — which scientists hope the cheetahs will hunt. After a few months of close monitoring, the cheetahs will be radio-collared and released.
The southern African countries of South Africa, Zambia, Namibia and Zimbabwe still have significant cheetah populations and are expected to play a significant role in their reintroduction in India following the first shipments this year.

Officials say usually, a leopard kills an animal and after devouring a portion of the carcass it leaves the remaining part only to return to eat the leftovers later after feeling hungry.
In the meantime, if a rabid dog eats that leopard prey's leftover, the big cat is bound to catch rabies and spread it among other wild animals in the forest.

Congress general secretary and in-charge communications Jairam Ramesh also alleged that the prime minister "hardly ever acknowledges continuity in governance" and the Cheetah project was the latest example of that.

When tigers were first translocated to Panna and Sariska during 2009-11, there were many prophets of doom, Ramesh said, adding that they were proved wrong.
"Similar predictions are being made on the Cheetah project. The professionals involved are first-rate and I wish the project the very best!" he said.

He will arrive at the Gwalior airport from New Delhi at around 9.20 am and leave for Kuno National Park (KNP) in Sheopur district, about 165km away, where he will release cheetahs into quarantine enclosures at around 10.45 am, the official said.
The special cargo plane carrying eight cheetahs from Namibia will land at the Gwalior airport in Madhya Pradesh at around 6 am on September 17, which is also Modi's birthday, said a senior police official.
The felines will be then shifted to KNP in a helicopter.
As per the earlier plan, the special plane carrying the big cats from the African country was to land at the Jaipur airport, from where they were to be flown to KNP, around 400km from the Rajasthan capital.
The release of wild cheetahs by the prime minister in KNP is part of his efforts to revitalise and diversify India’s wildlife and its habitat, said a statement issued by the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) on Thursday.

Cheetahs will help in the restoration of open forest and grassland ecosystems in India. This will help conserve biodiversity and enhance ecosystem services like water security, carbon sequestration and soil moisture conservation, benefiting the society at large, it said.
After releasing cheetahs, Modi will take part in a plantation programme at Karahal in Sheopur district and later arrive in a local school to participate in a conference of women self-help groups (SHGs), said officials.
After the SHG programme, the PM will arrive in Gwalior and after a brief stay in the city, leave for New Delhi in the afternoon, they said.
Meanwhile, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minster released a glimpse of a cheetah arriving at KNP which sounds “Meow” on his Twitter handle.
“It is a matter of extreme happiness that cheetahs are coming to Kuno National Park. We the people of Madhya Pradesh are eager to welcome our new guests,” Chouhan said in a tweet.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the occasion of his birthday released cheetahs brought from Namibia in Madhya Pradesh's Kuno National Park.
The special cargo plane carrying eight cheetahs from Namibia landed at the Gwalior airport in Madhya Pradesh early morning on Saturday.
The felines were transferred to Kuno National Park in a helicopter.
The release of wild cheetahs is part of PM Modi's efforts to revitalise and diversify India&rsquo;s wildlife and its habitat, said a statement issued by the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) on Thursday.
