Charpentier on Nobel: women in science can create impact

After winning a Nobel Prize in Chemistry, scientist&nbsp;Emmanuelle Charpentier&nbsp;shared a message for the women scientist around the globe. The official account of the The Royal Swedish Academy tweeted the message that said&nbsp;
"My wish is that this will provide a positive message to the young girls who would like to follow the path of science, and to show them that women in science can also have an impact through the research that they are performing."
The award won by two women scientists, Charpentier and&nbsp;US's Jennifer Doudna&nbsp;has paved a way for women scientists to come forward and claim the victory henceforth.&nbsp;
The duo recieved&nbsp;the award for the&nbsp;discovery and development of&nbsp;Crispr Cas9, which has been termed by the prestigious Royal Swedish Academy as a revolutionary discovery. They&nbsp;are also the sixth and seventh women in the world to have won the Nobel Prize for Chemistry, after scientists like Marie Curie and Frances Arnold.

The Nobel Prize in Chemistry&nbsp;this year has been awarded&nbsp;to French scientist Emmanuelle Charpentier and American Jennifer A. Doudna&nbsp;for&nbsp;developing a method of genome editing&nbsp;known as the CRISPR-Cas9 DNA,&nbsp;likened to 'molecular scissors' that offer the promise of one day curing genetic diseases.
CRISPR&nbsp;is gene technology's sharpest stool, using these, researchers can change the DNA of animals, plants and microorganisms with extremely high precision. Te Nobel jury said,&nbsp;the technology has had a revolutionary impact on the life sciences, is contributing to new cancer therapies and may make the dream of curing inherited diseases come true.
The strangest thing about the win however, is that back in 2017, Charpentier and Doudna lost the legal battle for the patent of it - which went to a US company.
