This is the second time that Azad's life has come under danger. On June 28 last year, the Dalit leader was shot at by unidentified assailants in the Deoband area.

Azad Samaj Party founder Chandrashekhar Azad allegedly received a death threat, a party office-bearer said on Thursday and added that a police complaint has been lodged.
A case has been registered at Qutubsher police station and an investigation is underway, police said.
Azad is contesting the Lok Sabha elections from the Nagina constituency.
Karanveer Singh, the Azad Samaj Party's district unit chief, said he received a call around 6.30 pm on Tuesday, with the caller using "abusive language" against "great men".
Singh claimed the caller also used "casteist slurs".
The caller then issued a threat, saying Azad had survived an earlier attempt on his life after being shot in Deoband as the gun was fired by his aunt's son but will not survive this time.
Singh said he informed the Senior Superintendent of Police (Saharanpur) Vipin Tada and gave a memorandum demanding the culprit's immediate arrest.
Superintendent of Police (City) Abhimanyu Manglik told PTI that a case has been registered and action will be taken after a probe into the allegation

The accident occurred near Ratona village on the Sagar-Bhopal Road in Madhya Pradesh on April 24.&nbsp;In the video, the victim's bike can be seen first hitting a cow at high speed.&nbsp;The riders were thrown onto the road.&nbsp;Just then a car passed the spot, running over the teenager.
Ahirwar was rushed to a hospital but died while undergoing treatment.

Dalit voters, who are Azad's main catchment area, don't have much sway in this seat.
The Gorakhpur Sadar assembly seat has been with the BJP continuously since 1989, except once when it was won by an affiliate. In 2017, the BJP's Radha Mohan Das Agarwal won the seat by a margin of over 60,000 votes.
Yogi Adityanath is a five-time MP from Gorakhpur while Chandrashekhar Azad has never fought elections before.
So why is Ravan contesting from Gorakhpur?
It's more personal than political. The Dalit youth icon had declared back in November 2021 that he would contest against Yogi, who jailed him under NSA. Ravan has spent almost half of last 5 years in jail, thanks to Yogi.
On political level, Ravan has declared that his Azad Samaj Party will not ally Akhilesh Yadav's Samajwadi Party. Reports said that SP chief was ready to give Azad's party 3 seats, but he insisted on 25.
Ravan is a political rookie, his outfit, Bhim Army, is popular among Dalit youths, but has no significant organisational or political base in the state. Did he make a mistake by not accepting Akhilesh's offer? Is contesting against Yogi a strategy to remain in news in the election season?

AIMIM chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi on Sunday announced that his party will contest 100 seats in the 2022 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.
Owaisi also said his party would contest the polls in alliance with Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party patron Om Prakash Rajbhar&nbsp;who has formed an alliance&nbsp;called&nbsp;'Bhagidari Sankalp Morcha'.

As temperatures dip in some parts of the country, the political heat is rising in Bihar as polling draws near and political parties give their campaigns one final push. &nbsp;
The election for the 243-seat Bihar assembly is being held in 3 phases &ndash; 71 constituencies will vote in the first phase on October 28, 94 seats will go to polls in the second phase on November 3 and third phase on November 7 will cover 78 assembly seats. The ballots will be counted on November 10. &nbsp;
Around 7.29 crore people including nearly 78 lakh first-time voters will decide the fate of political stalwarts like Nitish Kumar and as well as that of rising sons like Tejashwi Yadav and Chirag Paswan. &nbsp;
Alliances have changed since the last Bihar assembly elections in 2015 which saw the RJD, JD(U) and Congress combine come to power. However, Nitish Kumar walked out of this grand alliance in 2017 to return to the BJP-led NDA fold. He continued as the Chief Minister but BJP&rsquo;s Sushil Kumar Modi replaced RJD&rsquo;s Tejashwi Yadav as the Deputy Chief Minister. &nbsp;
2020 might be the younger Yadav scion&rsquo;s year of vengeance as he takes the field as the chief ministerial candidate of the Congress-RJD Mahagathbandhan. The RJD has bagged the lion&rsquo;s share and will be contesting 144 seats, Congress 70 seats and the CPI-ML, CPI and CPI(M) will be contesting a total of 29 seats. The grand alliance is however a few allies short with Vikasheel Insaan Party and former CM Jiten Manjhi&rsquo;s Hindustani Awam Morcha quitting the alliance and joining NDA. &nbsp;
The ruling coalition may have gained 2 allies but it lost 1 very important ally with Lok Janshakti Party led by late Ram Vilas Paswan&rsquo;s son Chirag Paswan deciding to party ways with NDA in Bihar over differences with Nitish Kumar. While the LJP will fight the polls alone, it will field candidates only against JD(U) and not the BJP.&nbsp;
The saffron party is contesting 110 seats, the JD(U) 115 seats and smaller allies Vikasheel Insaan Party and CM Jiten Ram Manjhi&rsquo;s HAM will be fighting from 11 and 7 seats respectively.&nbsp;
There are other minor political parties and alliances in the fray as well. Former NDA ally Upendra Khushwaha&rsquo;s Rashtriya Lok Samta Party has joined hands with Asaduddin Owaisi&rsquo;s AIMIM.
