The process of cancellation of the drugs licenses of Marion Biotech pharmaceutical is in process and a report will be sent to the UP government.

The process has been initiated for cancellation of the drug license of pharmaceutical firm Marion Biotech, which is allegedly linked with the death of 18 children in Uzbekistan who consumed their cough syrup in December 2022, officials&nbsp; said on Sunday.
All production of drugs and other activities at the firm's campus in Sector 67 of Noida have also been stopped completely, Gautam Buddh Nagar drug inspector Vaibhav Babbar said.
On Friday, the local police arrested three senior employees of the firm after an FIR was lodged against them on charges of manufacturing and sale of adulterated drugs.
The two directors of the company named in the FIR, however, still remain at large.
&ldquo;The process has been initiated for cancellation of the drug license of pharmaceutical firm Marion Biotech. Paperwork for it is in progress and a report has been sent to the Uttar Pradesh government," Babbar told PTI.
"All production at the firm had been suspended in January itself and now it has been completely stopped,&rdquo; he said.
Marion Biotech had come under the scanner in December over reports of the children's death in Uzbekistan after which India's Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) initiated a probe into the matter and found 22 out of 36 samples &ldquo;not of standard quality&rdquo; (adulterated and spurious).
The World Health Organization had also declared a &ldquo;medical product alert&rdquo; related to Marion Biotech's drugs in the wake of the deaths reported in Uzbekistan.
The cough syrup 'Dok-1 Max', which was under the spotlight, has no domestic market in India and it was only an export item, the drug inspector said.

Drug firm AstraZeneca India on Tuesday said it has received approval from the country's drug regulator to market anti-diabetes medication Dapagliflozin.
The company said it has received approval from the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDCSCO) for the drug indicated for diabetes patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD).
Dapagliflozin is the first and only anti-diabetic drug approved to significantly reduce the risk of sustained eGFR (estimated Glomerular Filtration Rate), cardiovascular deaths and hospitalisations due to heart failure in adults with progressive chronic kidney disease, the drug firm said.
The approval is applicable for both diabetic and non-diabetic CKD patients, it added.
CKD is one of the leading causes of hospitalisation globally and in India, representing a significant clinical and economic burden.
"The timely approval of Dapagliflozin from the CDCSCO committee with the additional indication is a huge boost for nephrologists across the country towards the management of progressive CKD," AstraZeneca India Vice President - Medical Affairs and Regulatory Anil Kukreja said in a statement.
The approval will provide the clinical community with a potential therapeutic option to arrest the progression of CKDs and address heart failures at an early stage, he added.

The Biotechnology company Bharat Biotech, on Tuesday said that the Central Drugs Standard Control(CDSCO) has approved the extension of the shelf-life of the most used vaccines in India, Covaxin up to 12 months, from the date of manufacture.&nbsp;
The company further said that the approval is based on the availability of additional stability data, which was submitted to Central Drugs Standard Control.
Earlier during the month of April 2021, the Hyderabad-based Bharat Biotech has written to India&rsquo;s drug regulatory body CDSCO seeking an extension on the shelf life of the vaccine &lsquo;Covaxin&rsquo; from a period of six months to 24 months.
Bharat Biotech was permitted the sale and distribution of its indigenously developed Covid-19 vaccine &rdquo;Covaxin&rdquo; with a shelf life of six months when kept at 2&deg;C-8&deg;C.&nbsp;
