India's coronavirus case tally crossed the 55-lakh mark with a spike of 75,083 new cases &amp; 1,053 deaths, data released by health ministry on Tuesday morning showed. The number deaths due to the virus has now jumped up to close to 89,000. The country now has close to 10 lakh active case while nearly 45 lakh patients have recovered from the virus. The health ministry said that India has recorded very high single-day recoveries successively during the last 3 days. More than 90,000 Covid patients have recovered daily in the last three days taking the recovery rate to over 80%

Oxford University says trials of a coronavirus vaccine that it is developing with pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca will resume, days after being paused due to a reported side-effect in a patient in the UK.
In a statement, the university said in large trials such as this &ldquo;it is expected that some participants will become unwell and every case must be carefully evaluated to ensure careful assessment of safety.&rdquo; It said that globally some 18,000 people have received the vaccine as part of the trial.
It would not disclose information about the patient's illness for reasons of participant confidentiality but insisted that it is &ldquo;committed to the safety of our participants and the highest standards of conduct in our studies and will continue to monitor safety closely.&rdquo; Pauses in drug trials are commonplace.&nbsp;
