Ruggero Deodato's final credit was for a segment in the 24-part horror anthology film &lsquo;Deathcember&rsquo;.

Ruggero Deodato, director of the 1980 horror film &lsquo;Cannibal Holocaust&rsquo;, died aged 83 on Thursday. He made films in a variety of genres but he remains best known for his gruesome horror film that got him arrested and was banned in more than 50 countries. According to Deadline, no detailed information about his death was given.
As per a Deadline report, &lsquo;Cannibal Holocaust&rsquo; footage contained scenes of horrific torture along with other acts of extreme cruelty. Deodato was found guilty of animal abuse, but the murder charges were withdrawn after the courtroom appearance of the purportedly dead and ingested actors.
Deodato started working as an assistant director on Robert Rossellini&rsquo;s films in the late 1950s. He directed his first picture, 1968&rsquo;s &lsquo;Fenomenal and the Treasure of Tutankamen&rsquo;, and went on to work on regional films, including comedies, dramas, and spaghetti westerns.
In the 1970s and 1980s, he continued to write and direct Italian movies and TV shows.
