The newly formed cabinet in Bihar expanded on Tuesday when 31 ministers took oath, with the RJD getting a lion’s share, and care having been taken to represent all sections of the society, including the minorities.

The RJD has given seven berths to Yadavs, including Tej Pratap Yadav, the elder son of party president Lalu Prasad. It also gave representation to the upper castes in keeping with the wider social outreach.

The newly formed cabinet in Bihar expanded on Tuesday when 31 ministers took oath, with the RJD getting a lion&rsquo;s share, and care having been taken to represent all sections of the society, including the minorities.
Among the ministers who took oath, 16 were from RJD, 11 from Chief Minister Nitish Kumar&rsquo;s JD(U), two from Congress, one from ex-CM Jitan Ram Manjhi&rsquo;s Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) and one Independent.
The number of Muslims in the new cabinet is five, up from only one in the previous NDA government that fell last week after the chief minister severed ties with the BJP.
The RJD has, predictably, given a significant number of seven berths to Yadavs, including Tej Pratap Yadav, the elder son of party president Lalu Prasad.
It, however, also gave representation to the upper castes in keeping with the wider social outreach by deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav.

Among those from the RJD quota were Kartikeya Singh, a Bhumihar MLC, and Sudhakar Singh, a Rajput, whose father Jagadanand Singh is currently the state president.
The JD(U) has retained its ministers from the previous dispensation.
The Congress is represented by a Dalit and a Muslim.&nbsp;

Mansukh Mandviya who was handling the shipping ministry as minister of state till now has been given the all important task of overseeing country's Covid-19 management as the new Health Minister. Kiren Rijiju has been given the Law and Justice portfolio that was previously held by Ravi Shankar Prasad. Anurag Thakur&nbsp;who was made a Cabinet minister at the ceremony has been given charge of the Sports ministry and I&amp;B. He was a MoS at the Finance Ministry till now. While Piyush Goyal keeps Commerce Ministry and has been given additional charge of Textiles, the important Railways portfolio has been given to new inductee Ashwini Vaishnaw. Vaishnaw&nbsp;will also be in charge of Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.
Dharmendra Pradhan will now head Ministry of Education after Ramesh Pokhriyal was dropped earlier in the day.

An extensive and protracted review was carried out by Modi and the BJP top brass through a series of meetings with ministers ahead of Wednesday's big exercise. These meetings were also held in the wake of widespread criticism of the Central government's handling of the COVID crisis.
Rane, a Rajya Sabha MP and a former Maharashtra chief minister, was the first to take oath.
 Lok Sabha MP from Tikamgarh in Madhya Pradesh Virendra Kumar, Rajya Sabha MP from Odisha Ashwini Vaishnaw, Rajya Sabha MP from Bihar and JD(U) leader R C P Singh, Lok Sabha MP from Bihar's Hajipur Pashupati Kumar Paras, were also sworn-in as Cabinet ministers. 
Kiren Rijiju, R K Singh, Hardeep Singh Puri, Mansukh Mandaviya, Parshottam Rupala, G Kishan Reddy and Anurag Thakur were elevated to the Cabinet level.
