Former champion PV Sindhu's wretched run continued as she bowed out of the World Championships, but HS Prannoy and Lakshya Sen produced commanding performances to enter the third round in men's singles, in Copenhagen on August 22. Sindhu lacked any sting in her attack and went down tamely 14-21 14-21 to old nemesis Nozomi Okuhara of Japan, a 2017 gold medallist and silver winner in 2019.
In men's singles, world No 9 Prannoy produced a masterclass as he tamed Indonesia's Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo 21-9 21-14 to set up a clash with 2021 champion, Loh Kean Yew of Singapore.
Earlier, Lakshya Sen, a bronze medallist at the 2021 edition, prevailed 21-11 21-12 over the world No. 51 Korean Jeon Hyeok Jin.

The BWF World Tour Finals became the latest sporting event that has been shifted out of China due to COVID-19 fears.

The BWF World tour finals was scheduled to be held in Guangzhou, China but now has been shifted to Bangkok, Thailand&nbsp;

As COVID-19 cases continue to rise in China, the BWF World Tour Finals have been moved out of the country.
The city of Guangzhou in China was set to host the event from December 14, but due to the current COVID-19 crisis in the city the Badminton body decided to shift the venue.
The Nimibutr Arena in Bangkok, Thailand is set to host the event which will now start a week earlier on December 7 due to the change in venue and stadium availability issues.
The BWF said that after consulting with the Chinese Badminton Association, they agreed to relocate the World Tour Finals due to the various challenges brought about by the current situation.
BWF added that it will confirm the list of qualified athletes for the tournament on November 22 after the conclusion of the ongoing Australian Open.
HS Prannoy will be the only Indian at the World Tour Finals, after double Olympic medallist PV Sindhu, the only other Indian shuttler to qualify for the season-ending event, pulled out of the tournament on Sunday as she is yet to fully recover from a stress fracture on her left ankle.&nbsp;

Indian shuttler HS Prannoy's resurgence continued as he overtook World Champion Viktor Axelsen to become the new No. 1 in the latest BWF World Tour Rankings.
The Indian star took the pole position by pipping the Dane by more than 2500 points.
30-year-old Prannoy has been incredibly consistent this year and he also played an instrumental role in helping the nation lift their maiden Thomas Cup crown in May.

The Badminton World Federation on Saturday announced to cancel the Taipei Open Super 300 that was scheduled to take place from September 7th to 12 in Taipei City due to Covid-19. The body said that they decided to cancel the event because of the 'unexpected Covid-19 complications regarding staging the tournament' They further assured that there will be no further changes for the upcoming Badminton tournaments.
