The BWF World Tour Finals became the latest sporting event that has been shifted out of China due to COVID-19 fears.

The BWF World tour finals was scheduled to be held in Guangzhou, China but now has been shifted to Bangkok, Thailand&nbsp;

As COVID-19 cases continue to rise in China, the BWF World Tour Finals have been moved out of the country.
The city of Guangzhou in China was set to host the event from December 14, but due to the current COVID-19 crisis in the city the Badminton body decided to shift the venue.
The Nimibutr Arena in Bangkok, Thailand is set to host the event which will now start a week earlier on December 7 due to the change in venue and stadium availability issues.
The BWF said that after consulting with the Chinese Badminton Association, they agreed to relocate the World Tour Finals due to the various challenges brought about by the current situation.
BWF added that it will confirm the list of qualified athletes for the tournament on November 22 after the conclusion of the ongoing Australian Open.
HS Prannoy will be the only Indian at the World Tour Finals, after double Olympic medallist PV Sindhu, the only other Indian shuttler to qualify for the season-ending event, pulled out of the tournament on Sunday as she is yet to fully recover from a stress fracture on her left ankle.&nbsp;

Double Olympic medallist PV Sindhu has pulled out from the season-ending BWF World Tour Finals due to the stress fracture on her left ankle, PV Ramana, Sindhu's father confirmed. The Hyderabad-based shuttler who won the inaugural BWF World Tour Final in 2018 had sustained the injury during her successful Commonwealth Games campaign and has not recovered fully from it yet.&nbsp;
'Her doctor has advised her to take some more time so that she recovers completely ahead of the new season, her father said. He further informed that Sindhu had already started her training a couple of weeks back and the 27-year-old is expected to be fully fit by January.

Badminton has once again started to bear the brunt of Covid-19 as the Badminton World Federation (BWF) cancelled the Hong Kong Open Super 500 and Macau Open Super 300 due to restrictions in the two countries.
Macau Open was due to start on November 1 while the Hong Kong Open was scheduled to be played from November 8 to 13.&nbsp;
With quarantine restrictions still required for all overseas visitors, there was no other viable option than to cancel the tournament, BWF said in a statement.

Srikanth Kidambi who recently won the silver medal at the World Badminton Championship is among 7 players who have tested positive for Covid-19 at the ongoing India Open in New Delhi, the Badminton World Federation confirmed on Thursday. Apart from Kidambi, Ashwini Ponappa, Ritika Thakkar, Treesa Jolly, Mithun Manjunath, Simran Singh and Khushi Gupta have also contracted Covid-19. The BWF is a statement further informed that the 7 persons have been withdrawn from the ongoing badminton event. They underwent RT PCR test on Tuesday. Their doubles partners who were deemed to be the close contacts have also been withdrawn from the badminton event.  
The players will not be withdrawn from the main draw and their opponents will be given a walkover to the next round, BWF said. India Open which began on 11th January was not organised for the past 2 years due to pandemic scare.
