 It was just minutes before close that NSE announced that trading hours would be extended by both exchanges from 3:45 upto 5 pm. The message was short and for many almost too late . Zerodha sent out a message to their clients - if NSE had informed brokers of a potential reopening or extension of trading hours, at least by 3 PM, we, along with many other brokers would not have had to take risk mitigation measures and square off positions on BSE. Unfortunately, because there were no updates given to brokers, we had no other choice. The last minute notification of the trading extension at 3:17 PM came a little too late.&nbsp;

Power being restored in phases in Mumbai: BMC

Power has been restored in many parts of Mumbai including Worli, Dadar, Kalina and Charni Road after Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) announced that electricity will be back in phases in the financial capital within minutes.
A blackout of over 2 hours was reported in Mumbai on Monday with residents taking to Twitter to report power cut across the city, Navi Mumbai and Thane.
Multiple tripping of lines and transformers affected 360 MW supply in the city and suburbs. As the city came to a standstill, Mumbai University announced that it has deferred Monday's exam to Sunday, October 18.
The local trains under Western Railway &mdash; between Church Gate to Vasai railway station &mdash; have come to a standstill due to grid failure. The Central Railway (CR) that runs between CSMT and Kalyan has also been stopped.
However, both National Stock Exchange (NSE) and Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) said that there is no stoppage in trading despite power failure. Amid the blackout, shares of Tata Power crashed by two percent.

Equity markets surged in the morning trade on Thursday led by huge gains in IT stocks.
At 9:25 am, the Sensex&nbsp;was 429 points higher at 40,308. The BSE&nbsp;benchmark index crossed the 40,000-mark for the first time since&nbsp;February. Similarly, the Nifty 50 index&nbsp;jumped a percent to trade at 11,856.
TCS, Wipro, HCL&nbsp;Tech, Tech Mahindra and Infosys&nbsp;were the top market movers.
The US markets also posted a sharp rally on Wednesday with Dow Jones ending almost 2% higher.
