Isometric exercises involve low-impact movements that focus on enhancing muscular strength and endurance.&nbsp;
The examination revealed that incorporating approximately eight minutes of isometric exercise three times a week can result in a beneficial reduction in blood pressure.
The research indicates that a wall sit, maintaining a seated position against a wall, is highly effective in reducing blood pressure. Following a regular isometric routine, with two minutes of wall sits, two minutes of rest, and repeating this four times, resulted in a notable decrease of 10 mmHg in systolic blood pressure and 5 mmHg in diastolic pressure.
Researchers clarify that isometric exercises, by contracting and holding muscles, efficiently lower blood pressure. This contraction temporarily reduces blood flow, prompting blood vessels to relax, facilitating improved blood flow and effectively reducing blood pressure.

Married people might enjoy longer lives, but it doesn't guarantee ideal health: A study in the Journal of the American Heart Association suggests that middle-aged and elderly heterosexual couples could face increased high blood pressure risks if one partner has the condition.
The study, conducted in China, England, India, and the United States, examined data from over 30,300 couples across four countries revealing that women married to men with high blood pressure were more likely to have hypertension themselves, as were men with wives facing hypertension.&nbsp;
The study suggests that health-related conversations between partners and shared approaches to lifestyle changes could significantly impact hypertension management.
"High blood pressure is more common in the US and England than in China and India, however, the association between couples&rsquo; blood pressure status was stronger in China and India than in the US and England. One reason might be cultural,&rdquo; said study co-lead author Peiyi Lu, Ph.D., a post-doctoral fellow in epidemiology at Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health.

Experts conducted the study on 110 patients with a history of high blood pressure and placed them on, "one gram of paracetamol four times a day or a placebo for two weeks, before reversing the regime so the placebo group got paracetamol," The Telegraph UK reported.
The study raises alarm as paracetamol was considered a safe altrnative to drugs such as ibuprofen, which are known to raise blood pressure.

Normal blood pressure is defined by pressure below 120/80, whereas an optimal and healthier blood pressure is closer to 110/70. The ANU team in collaboration with colleagues in Australia, New Zealand and Germany, examined more than 2,000 brain scans of 686 healthy individuals. The blood pressure of the participants was measured up to four times across a 12-year period.
The ANU study found that participants with high blood pressure had older and therefore less healthy brains, increasing their risk of heart disease, stroke and dementia. Researchers also found that participants with the elevated blood pressure but within the normal range too had older-looking brains and were at risk of health problems.
If optimal blood pressure is maintained, brains will remain younger and healthier, researchers concluded. Findings show the need for everyone including young people to check their blood pressure regularly.
