Around $620 million were stolen by the hackers in one of the biggest crypto theft in the world from Ronin, a blockchain network connected to the popular Axie Infinity online game.
The Ronin hack comes after more than $300 million worth of cryptos were lost in the February attack on the Wormhole bridge. 
Like any system, cryptocurrency platforms and exchange mechanisms are vulnerable to cyberattacks. As per a report, a 51% or majority attack is where an attacker gains control of more than 50% of the hashing power of a blockchain. Once a hacker has that level of control over the blockchain, they can perform double-spends and reverse transactions.

The infection is most likely to have been instigated via a phishing email.
4. Mt Gox | $470 million: Back in 2014, the Japanese crypto-exchange, Mt Gox was the most successful exchange, handling over 70% of all crypto transactions. In early 2014, the exchange was the victim of a crypto heist that stole over $470 million worth of bitcoins.
5. Wormhole Bridge | $325 million: One of the most popular bridges which links the Ethereum and Solana blockchains, was hacked in February. The attack swiped $320 million or 120,000 Ethereum.

Zhao was born in 1977 in China and later moved to Canada with family, where he worked at Mcdonald's to support his family. He is a major in computer science from McGill University and has developed various software related to trading in his life. Between 2013 and 2017, CZ worked on some crypto projects before finally launching his own crypto exchange Binance, which has now become the world's biggest crypto exchange platform. 
Binance could be worth as much as $300 billion as per a report from the Wall Street Journal, which is three times of the publicly traded Coinbase. Binance generated at least $20 billion of revenue last year, according to a Bloomberg analysis of its trading volume and fees. In one recent 24-hour span, Binance completed $170 billion of transactions. On a really slow day, he said, it’s about $40 billion — and that’s up from as little as $10 billion two years before that.

<h3>Why does SEBI&nbsp;want&nbsp;DLT?</h3>
The decision has been taken based on the recommendations of a working group, comprising officials from SEBI, depositories, stock exchanges, and trustees association of India, constituted by the regulator last November to suggest ways to strengthen the&nbsp;capturing process.
WazirX founder <a href="https://www.edtr.ai/a16a" target="_blank">Nischal Shetty, in a conversation with editorji,</a> also urged the Indian government to not lag behind in the crypto revolution that is underway in many parts of the world.
The system will come into effect from April 1, 2022, however, testing of the system will start from January 2022.
<h3>Understanding DLT</h3>
DLT&nbsp;is a&nbsp;technological infrastructure that allows simultaneous access, validation, and record updating across a network that's spread across multiple entities or locations.&nbsp;The technology creates an immutable database, which means information, once stored, cannot be deleted and any updates are permanently recorded for all future generations.
The technology was introduced by&nbsp;<a href="https://www.editorji.com/story/bitcoin-bounces-back-with-dogecoin-ethereum-as-elon-musk-jack-dorsey-come-to-the-rescue-1626921065308" target="_blank">Bitcoin&nbsp;</a>and is now a buzzword in the tech world, given its potential across industries and sectors.
