Bharatiya Kisan Union national spokesperson Rakesh Tikait has accused the BJP of plotting to get him killed.
Tikait termed the ink attack on him in Karnataka recently, a "well-planned conspiracy".
"The government wants to get me killed to break the Tikait family and the sangathan (union). But this will never happen," he said.
Tikait was addressing a review meeting of BKU at Dharmeshwari Farm in Jangethi village of Meerut district.
He said that just as Mahatma Gandhi was shot dead by “conspirators”, people who raise the voice for the country and the farmers of the country are on the target of the “conspirators.” "If some harm comes to one Tikait, then lakhs of Tikaits are ready to raise the Inquilabi flag in the country," he said.

Tikait also hit out at the BJP-ruled Uttar Pradesh government saying it should talk to the farmers and find a solution to their problems.
He said that the chief minister is the chief minister of the people of the entire state and not only of his own party, and he should engage with the farmers with indiscrimination.

Rakesh&nbsp;Tikait&nbsp;was in Karnataka&nbsp;at the time of the incident.

Miscreants on Monday threw ink on farmer leader Rakesh Tikait during an event organised by a farmers' organisation at the Gandhi Bhavan here.
Soon after the incident, clashes took place between the organisers and the miscreants leading to both sides attacking each other with plastic chairs.
Reacting to the incident, Tikait alleged that the ink attack on him was in connivance with the state government.
"The local police is responsible for it and it happened due to the connivance of the government," Tikait told reporters.
Black ink was seen on his turban, face, Kurta, and green shawl around his neck.

BKU (Krantikari) leader Surjit Singh Phool lauded protestors for occupying the route through which PM Modi was supposed to travel from Punjab's Bathinda to Ferozepur on Jan 5.

 A leader of Bhartiya Kisan Union (Krantikari) congratulated fellow workers for the protest which forced PM Modi to cut his Punjab trip short.

 On January 5, the Prime Minister's convoy was stranded on a flyover in Punjab for 15-20 minutes as the route was blocked by protestors. PM Modi eventually had to turn back and cancel the event to which he was headed.

 The Union Home Ministry slammed the Punjab government for a major security lapse, while the BJP accused the ruling Congress of trying to harm the PM. Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi rubbished the allegations, claiming that PM Modi changed his programme at the last minute, and that he was not in any danger at any point in time.

Subsequently, Phool uploaded another video, this time claiming that the protestors were not aware that the Prime Minister would be taking that route to reach his destination. Phool claimed that BKU(K) members occupied the streets after police denied them permission to protest at the district headquarters. He said that when police told them that PM Modi would be travelling via that route, the protestors felt the cops were lying to break up the demonstration.

With the controversy over an alleged lapse in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's security snowballing, a farm union leader made a big statement a day after the incident.
Bhartiya Kisan Union (Krantikari) leader Surjit Singh Phool congratulated fellow workers for blocking the PM's path and forcing him to cut his Punjab trip short. PM Modi's convoy was stuck on a flyover for around 15-20 minutes between Punjab's Bathinda and Ferozepur on January 5 as protestors occupied the street. The Union Home Ministry called it a major security lapse, while the Bharatiya Janata Party accused the Indian National Congress - which rules Punjab - of trying to harm the Prime Minister.

Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi had rejected the charges, claiming that PM Modi changed his programme of travelling by air at the last minute, and that he was not under threat at any point in time.
After hailing BKU(K) workers, Phool uploaded another video in which he seemed to have softened his stance. He claimed that the protestors were unaware that PM Modi would be taking that route. They were forced to occupy the street after police denied them permission to protest at the district headquarters, he said. He went on to say that when the police told the demonstrators that the PM was going to be travelling through their protest site, they felt that it was a lie meant to make them vacate the spot.
Meanwhile, the issue has reached the Supreme Court with a public interest litigation (PIL) being filed against the Punjab government's 'serious and deliberate lapse'.
