Mangaluru Police on Tuesday arrested 6 people in the wake of Mohammed Fazil's murder who was hacked to death on the night of July 28. 
The police said Fazil was killed as part of a conspiracy to avenge the killing of BJP worker Praveen Nettaru.
Mangaluru Police CP N Shashikumar said the 6 arrested individuals have gangster past and they had shortlisted Fazil's name among others following the murder of BJP youth wing leader. 
He added that the accused had 5 more targets in their list, and police probe was on to find out those people.
Dismissing specualtion of a 'love affair' police said it is a clear case of pre-mediated murder where the weapon and targt were deliberately picked.
The 6 accused have been identified as Suhas Shetty, Mohan Singh alias Nepali Mohan, Giridhar, Abhishek, Srinivas Katipalla and Deekshit Katipalla

Mangaluru Police on Tuesday said Mohammed Fazil was chosen as the target out of a list of 6 names to avenge the killing of BJP youth wing worker Praveen Nettaru.
Fazil was hacked to death on the night of July 28 on the outskirts of Mangaluru and the police have arrested 6 people so far.
Mangaluru Police Commissioner N Shashikumar said the 6 arrested individuals have gangster past and they had shortlisted Fazil's name following the murder of BJP youth wing leader.&nbsp;
He added that the police is searching for the other 5 people whose names were on the target list.

Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad activists were baton-charged and driven away when they barged into the residence of Karnataka Home Minister Araga Jnanendraon Saturday.The members of the BJP's student wing were seeking "justice" for a BJP youth wing leader, who was murdered in Dakshina Kannada district.
Holding their organisation's saffron flag stormed into the compound of Jnanendra's bungalow at Jayamahal and raised slogans.
They also sought a ban on Popular Front of India and its allied outfits, which they alleged were behind the killing of Hindutva activists and their growing influence in the state especially in the coastal districts bordering Kerala.
The police sought to persuade them to go away but they remained adamant and staged a sit-in demonstration inside the compound raising slogans. Later, the activists tried to storm Jnanendra's house.
Finally, the policemen dragged them out of the bungalow. A few of them were baton-charged as they resisted the police bid.
Later, the activists were driven away from the spot in government vehicles and taken to the JC Nagar police station where cases were registered against 30 of them.

BJP leader Raja Singh was arrested here on Tuesday for his alleged controversial remarks against a particular religion.
On Monday, the BJP MLA released a video criticising stand-up comedian Munawar Faruqui, who recently performed in the city. Singh is also purportedly seen making some comments against the religion in it.
Several people belonging to community staged protests in various parts of the city on Monday night demanding Singh's arrest.
Many All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) legislators and corporators of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation reached the police stations, where protests were held and sought stringent action against Raja Singh, party sources said.
According to police, complaints were filed against Singh in several police stations under South, East and West Zones.
Dabeerpur Police Inspector G Koteswar Raos said they received a complaint against Singh, which alleged that the BJP MLA made derogatory remarks against a religion.
An FIR was booked against Singh under various sections of IPC pertaining to promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs and criminal intimidation among others, he said.
During the arrest, the Goshamahal MLA told reporters that his video was pulled down by the social media platform on which it was uploaded and that he will upload “part 2” of the clip after his release.
“They removed my video from YouTube. I don’t know what the police are going to do. Once I am released second part (of the video) will certainly be uploaded. I am doing it for Dharma. I am ready to die for dharma,” he said.
Singh sought to know why several complaints were lodged against him in various police stations.
“Why there are complaints? Our Ram is not Ram? Our Sita is Sita? I requested the DGP with folded hands not to allow the person (Munawar Faruqui) who made comedy with vulgar language against Ram and Sita,” he said.
On August 19, Raja Singh was taken into custody by the police here when he tried to reach the venue of a show held to be held next day by stand-up comedian Munawar Faruqui.
Faruqui performed the show on that day even as the police picked up 50 people who tried to reach the venue and protest.

A 25-year-old Muslim man died after being beaten up allegedly by his neighbours in Uttar Pradesh's Kushinagar district for participating in the BJP's election campaign and celebrating its victory in the recently-held state polls, police said on Sunday.
Babar Ali, who was thrashed on March 20 in Kathargarhi, died during treatment in Lucknow, and when his body reached the village on Sunday, his family members refused to perform last rites and demanded the arrest of the perpetrators, they said.
However, local MLA PN Pathak and other officials reached there, and the family agreed to bury Ali's body.
Later, police arrested two accused and said the hunt is on to nab two more people.
Police said Ali was allegedly targeted by his neighbours for apparently participating in the BJP's campaigning and celebrating its victory in the assembly polls.
On the complaint of the victim's wife, Fatima Khatoon, police registered a case against Azimullah, Arif, Salma and Tahid under the Indian Penal Code on March 21 and among the four, Arif and Tahid have been arrested.
As per reports, Ali campaigned for Pathak, a BJP leader, during the assembly election and on the day of victory, he not only burst crackers but also distributed sweets.
His neighbours became very angry, threatened him with dire consequences and on March 20 , they surrounded him in his house and started beating him up with sticks, police said.
When he climbed to the roof of the house, to save himself, they threw him down from there, they said.
Ali's brother Chande Alam and Fatima told reporters that they went to police and other officials several times to get protection from their neighbours but no one cared.
Pathak said that the culprits won't be spared and strict action will be taken against them.
"On March 21 a case was registered in which one Baba Ali was injured after he was beaten up. On March 25 , he died and among two accused Arif and Tahid have been arrested and sent to jail and the rest of the accused will be soon arrested. The accused and victim are of the same community," Circle Officer Khadda Sandeep Verma said.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed condolences on death of Ali and expressed his gratitude towards his family.
He directed officials to conduct an unbiased probe into the matter.
