The Aam Aadmi Party and BJP escalate their rivalry with Bollywood-inspired poster and video campaigns, targeting each other over key issues like Purvanchali votes and leadership.&nbsp;

In the build-up to the Delhi Assembly elections, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have escalated their rivalry through a heated and creative poster war, using Bollywood-inspired visuals and satirical content to influence voters.
The BJP's latest move came on Monday with a poster portraying AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal as Mogambo, the iconic villain from the 1980 Bollywood classic Mr. India, originally played by Amrish Puri.

 Captioned &ldquo;Purvanchaliyon se Nafrat ki Aag&rdquo; (Hatred against people from Purvanchal), the poster accuses Kejriwal of disrespecting the Purvanchali community by allegedly labeling some voters as "fake."

The Purvanchali vote bank has become a significant battleground for both parties in Delhi. The BJP also alleged that AAP prioritizes illegal settlements of Rohingyas and Bangladeshis over Delhi&rsquo;s Purvanchali residents.
"AAP's anti-Purvanchal face has been exposed before the nation. People from UP-Bihar living in Delhi are fake for Arvind Kejriwal. But are Rohingya and Bangladeshi infiltrators his friends?" read the BJP&rsquo;s poster.
In response, AAP launched its own satirical counterattack, releasing a parody video referencing the 1996 film Diljale. Shared on X, the video used a fictional conversation between Amrish Puri&rsquo;s character Dara and a deepfake of Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

The video mocks the BJP for lacking a Chief Ministerial candidate in Delhi. &ldquo;Dulha kahaan hai, vision kahaan hai, sirf gaaliyan hain. Dilli mein Kejriwal ne kaam karke dikhaya hai aur tumne sirf gaaliyan di hain,&rdquo; Dara's character says, translating to, &ldquo;Where is the groom, where is the vision? There are only abuses. Kejriwal has worked for Delhi, but you&rsquo;ve only hurled insults.&rdquo;
This creative exchange is part of a larger "poster-video war" between the two parties, which have been using satirical content and Bollywood imagery to engage voters on social media platforms.
Earlier, AAP targeted BJP candidate Ramesh Bidhuri with a poster casting him as a villain from Bahubali 1, branding him the &ldquo;CM face of the abusive party.&rdquo; The BJP fired back, labeling Kejriwal as &ldquo;Sheeshmahal wale AAP-da-e-aazam,&rdquo; a dig at the alleged extravagant renovations of his official residence.
As Delhi prepares for its 70-member assembly elections scheduled on February 5, with results to be announced on February 8, the ongoing war of words and visuals has added an intense and theatrical layer to the campaign.

BJP holds protests near Kejriwal's residence over 'fake' voter registrations

The protest, centered on claims of "fake voters" from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, escalated with demonstrators attempting to breach security near Kejriwal&rsquo;s residence. Police used water cannons to disperse the crowd, detaining over 20 protesters.

The Delhi BJP held a protest on Friday against the AAP for allegedly making "fake" claims about registration of voters from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar in the electoral rolls ahead of assembly polls.
Hundreds of protesters holding placards like "Purvanchal Virodhi Kejriwal" raised slogans against AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal, with some attempting to breach the security barricades near his residence.
Slogans such as "Litti chokha khayenge, Kejriwal bhagayenge", "Chhathi Maiya ki jai", and "Purvanchal Virodhi Kejriwal murdabad" echoed during the protest.
A protester, speaking to PTI, said, "Purvanchalis have been called fake voters. This anger will not subside until we remove Kejriwal from here."
Another protester added, "He has humiliated us. During Anna Hazare's movement, he used us and made us endure police lathis. And now, he is calling us fake voters."
During the protest, the demonstrators attempted to breach security barricades and move closer to Kejriwal's residence.
However, the police used water cannons to disperse the crowd and prevented them from advancing further.
According to police officials, more than 20 protesters were detained for protesting without valid permission.
"They were bundled into police buses and taken to different police stations," a senior police officer said.
BJP MP Manoj Tiwari said, "Arvind Kejriwal has always insulted the Purvanchali community. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he made several objectionable statements, and now he has referred to them as 'fake voters'. We will not forget this insult, and neither will the people of Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, and Bihar. This betrayal will remain etched in the memory of Delhiites as well."
Kejriwal on Thursday accused BJP of manipulating the electoral rolls by registering "fake" voters from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar in his constituency, New Delhi, ahead of assembly polls.
In a formal complaint to the Election Commission, Kejriwal raised concerns over applications for the addition of 13,000 new voters between December 15 and January 8.
Addressing the media after lodging the complaint, Kejriwal said, "Apparently many of these voters have been brought in from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and other neighbouring states to create fake voter registrations. This manipulation undermines the election process."
Kejriwal's remarks sparked an immediate backlash from BJP with party leaders condemning his comments.
Elections for the 70-member Delhi assembly are scheduled on February 5. Votes will be counted on February 8.
