Bihar Police authorities have asked an inspector general rank officer to examine the authenticity of evidence furnished against the Nawada district SP that he allegedly kept five cops inside a lockup for two hours, and initiate action if he is found guilty.
The Magadh IG, Vinay Kumar, was directed to complete the investigation into the matter within seven working days and update the Headquarters, according to an order issued by the Anil Kishore Yadav, Additional Director General (ADG), CID & Weaker Section division of the Bihar Police.
“If the evidence is found to be authentic, a case should be registered against the Nawada SP,” the order said.
The alleged incident took place in a police station in Nawada district on September 9 as SP Gaurav Mangala was dissatisfied with the performance of three assistant sub-inspectors and two sub-inspectors. He allegedly put them inside the lock-up for two hours.
Bihar Police Association lodged a complaint with the ADG and submitted electronic evidence against Mangala.
The SP concerned was not available for comment. When contacted, Vinay Kumar refused to speak on the issue.

Patna, PTI: Bihar Director General of Police (DGP) Gupteshwar Pandey on Tuesday took voluntary retirement from service, triggering speculations that the outspoken officer would contest the coming state Assembly polls.
Pandey's request seeking voluntary retirement was approved by Governor Phagu Chauhan, a notification issued by the state home department said.
Director General (Homeguards) SK Singhal has been given additional charge of DGP, ADG (Headquarters) Jitendra Kumar told PTI.&nbsp;
Pandey, a 1987 batch IPS officer, was involved in the investigation of actor Sushant Singh Rajput's death by suicide in Mumbai.
He had recently been in the headlines for his stout defence of the Nitish Kumar administration when it was under attack from the Shiv Sena-led government in Maharashtra over Bihar Police's probe into the death of Rajput.&nbsp;
He had also courted controversy with his 'aukaat' remark on Rhea Chakraborty.
Bihar Assembly election is likely to be held in October-November.
Pandey had taken premature retirement to contest the Lok Sabha elections in 2009, but later the state government did not accept his VRS application and reinstated him in the service.

The CBI has termed media reports attributed to it on its probe into the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput as "speculative and not based on facts". The agency has denied sharing any details with media

The CBI has termed media reports attributed to it on its probe into the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput as "speculative and not based on facts". In a statement late on Thursday evening, the CBI said it is conducting investigation into Sushant Rajput's death in a systematic and professional way. The agency stated that as a matter of policy, it does not share details of ongoing investigation. It further clarified that the&nbsp;CBI spokesperson or any team member has not shared any details of investigation with media. "The details being reported and attributed to CBI are not credible," it said.

Sushant Rajput, 34, was found dead at his apartment in suburban Bandra in Mumbai on June 14.
The CBI had filed an FIR (First Information Repot) taking over the probe from Bihar Police into the alleged abetment to suicide case filed by the actor's father KK Singh in Patna against Sushant Rajput's friend Rhea Chakraborty and her family.
Sushant Singh's father in his complaint to Bihar Police had alleged that Chakraborty along with her family members had misappropriated Sushant Rajput's wealth, which was denied by Rhea Chakraborty in TV interviews.
The CBI Director has handed over the probe to the special investigation branch which is camping in Mumbai and has recorded statements of Rhea Chakraborty and her family members, met police and visited the crime scene.
