A school district in the American state of Utah has banned the King James' Bible in primary and middle schools for 'vulgarity and violence' after a complaint by a parent.

A school district in the American state of Utah has banned the King James Bible in primary and middle schools for 'vulgarity and violence' after a complaint by a parent. The complaint was reportedly filed in March 2023 after a 2022 law passed in Utah allowed parents to challenge books found in school libraries.&nbsp;
The 72,000-student Davis School District north of Salt Lake City removed the Bible from its elementary and middle schools while keeping it in high schools.&nbsp;
The decision comes as conservative parent activists, including state-based chapters of the group Parents United, descend on school boards and statehouses throughout the United States, sowing alarm about how sex and violence are talked about in schools.
Parents who have pushed for more say in their children's education and the curriculum and materials available in schools have argued that they should control how their children are taught about matters like gender, sexuality and race.

Oldest Hebrew Bible to go up for sale for the first time in 30 years

Composed of 24 books, the Hebrew Bible makes up the foundation for Judaism as well as Christianity, in which these texts are referred to as the Old Testament

The Codex Sassoon was handwritten by one scribe on 792 pages.

Sotheby's is auctioning off the oldest and most complete Hebrew Bible ever discovered.
The Codex Sassoon was written in the late ninth to early tenth century.
Composed of 24 books, the Hebrew Bible makes up the foundation for Judaism as well as Christianity, in which these texts are referred to as the Old Testament.
Sotheby's senior consultant, Sharon Liberman Mintz said the condition of the book is astounding.
Coming to auction for the first time in more than 30 years, the book is expected to fetch between $30 and 50 million. The auction will be in May.
Liberman Mintz said the Codex Sassoon is most valuable printed manuscript or historical document by estimate ever offered at auction.

Clarence School as part of class 11 admission application require parents to sign a declaration that says their child will attend all classes including Morning Assembly Scripture Class and Clubs for his or her own moral and spiritual welfare and will not object to carry the Bible and Hymn Book. 
The directive has irked certain Hindu-right wing groups. The Hindu Janajagruti Samithi has called it a violation of the Karnataka Education Act and said the school is forcing non-Christian students to read the Bible. 
The Clarence School in its defence has said it provides Bible-based education. 
The Karnataka state govt had recently announced that it plans to introduce Bhagavad Gita as part of the syllabus from the next academic year.
